Fries taste good because we're programmed to enjoy Calories. The fattier the food, the more we crave it. Why? Because back in the day when we didn't have much food, we'd fight the hardest for meat, fat rich foods, to supply us with a lot of energy between meals (which would be a long time). Fries fit that category, Calorie rich salty sticks of starch and grease. We can taste calories, the more there are, the better it tastes.

Question: Why don't McD's fries rot (break down) when put in a sealed glass container for weeks - months or even y.... other fries would grow things after that long in an enclosed jar. As for their taste - I believe they get their flavoring from a lab to simulate their taste. What does that do to your innards?

Very fine salt and palm oil? Just like buttered popcorn in theaters, the Palm Oil is the trick. Does McD use Palm Oil at all, when the fries are "blanched" (precooked) before being sent to the restaurants, where they're then "cooked" in vegetable oil?
Truth in advertising. Yes fries are "cooked" in vegetable oil! Nothing is stated for their pre-cooking (blanched) process.

The fresh reastaurant fries rotted after few days.... the McD fries hadn't rotted even by the end of the making of the movie.So they observed it for a bit longer, after they'd finished the movie, until a housekeeper ended up throwing them out by mistake! :D ONELOVE

Mcy Ds fries taste so good because they are fried then flash frozen while still in the factory, then when at the Mcy Ds location they are fried once again and coated with a salt/sugar mixture. it makes the fries addictive so you come back for more.

@Donut23SL ok, that might be correct but if you are correct, what would stop a different fast food chain from doing the same thing capturing market share? also, why would you use the term addictive for salt/sugar? salt and sugar are in catsup added to the fries after the purchase. and yes they pre salt the fries for convience because it will only stick to a hot oily fries and falls away from cold fries.

@Donut23SL thats an old trick to make them crunchy, the cross section size selection of the uncooked fry is even Moore important to the final moisture content. i have often wondered if the beef flavor isnt beef at all. i suspect its just MSG that enhances the flavor. Notice Mcdonals fries have a unique cross section size. when the finished product is served its never to moist never to dry, no matter where you buy them. its like their competitors dont even give a damn. toss em on the floor
