  • Jay Black, great interviewed by 2 pumpkin heads from Bay Shore, NY

  • Comment removed

  • Happy 73rd Jay,youve givin us so much wonderful music, wishing you the very best!

  • Jay seems very reserved here, but the stories are wonderful.

  • What fkin' douchebaggery!

  • What was the A side to Cara Mia? Good interview....except the stupid pumpkin heads

  • @Appleholic1 ......the A SIDE to " Cara Mia " was " When It's All Over ". It's a wonderful song, and Jay's voice is really strong and mature. He sounds older, even though he recorded it at the same time as Cara Mia, when he was about 26 or 27. It's on YouTube, but without a live video. You'll find it under " Jay and the Americans/When It's All Over "...Dawn

  • Jay was a great interview subject for me in 1978 and this iadds a few details to the story of "Cara Mia." He's right about David Whitfield's operatic take, which was recorded in 1954 with Mantovani's Orchestra and became both a US and UK pop hit. Authorship was credited to "Tulio Trapani and Lee Lange" -- Lange a pseudonym for Whitfield's producer Bunny Lewis and Trapani the nom de plume for Mantovani.

  • One of the great men of 60's music.

  • is that really him...or are these guys to promote their station?..he said he was 70...looks far older...who was the guy that called him ''brundle fly''

  • Connie Francis is also still performing at 72 years old. Still sounding great!

  • i remember the night of the bomb threat, we had to leave. and his 70th bday and the 45th show. and so on. seen him many times. love the man.

  • Where is this diner that people go after the show?? Love Jay!! Great voice

  • WHAT?!?!?!?! Some people are still wondering why you still sing and you are still alive?!?!?!? You are STILL the best! Any numbnuts out there who even contemplate why or how come, sheesh, simple answer, Go suck a lemon wedge! Jay, please keep it up. Thank you, for so many wonderful memories and the voice, best...as always! Angel hugs and bunches of love to everyone! Francine

  • Watching Jay's site for his next booking at Westbury for 2010...Can't wait......

  • Good interview however Jay always says "I" instead of "The Band" ..." I opened for the Beatles"... etc...

  • @rich465 I saw him in concert about 15 years ago and he was just great, but, there was just something about his personality that I didn't like. My mom told me he was always like that even in the 50's.

  • @rich465 Come on! Jay IS the show. The Voice!

  • I love Jay and the Americans. When he sings ,it draws tears from my eyes. I was an Opera Singer, yet when I hear them I want to sing with them. They are the main reason God created Music. 5stars.

  • I have seen Jay and The Americans in the 60's and have no desire to watch this other Jay impersonator...I saw Elvis in concert and don't even care to watch all these impersonator they have today. I like Jay Black and the Americans even at 70 years old......you can't beat the original record recorders....

  • Thanks for uploading this. It is very interesting to hear his views. He has great music! Ron

  • It is such a shame how everything went for Jay Black and Jay and the Americans will never be the same without him

  • Have you seen Jay and the americans??? They are great. going ot see them at the grainge fair on sept 2. They have never been better!!!!!

  • @lindaveee lol , thats not Jay & The Americans , its The Americans with a cheap rip of Jay ^^ Its a impersonator , a good one but still a impesonator , theres only one Jay The Voice Black ^^

  • @Mynxor Hi Mynxor. You should know there were three Jays in Jay And The Americans. Jay #1- John Traynor. Jay #2-David Blatt. Jay #3 Jay Reinecke. All three are great. Theres no impersonator. I have seen all three. My opinion is that Jay Reinecke is the best. Go see Jay And The Americans, they are on tour now.

  • Belated Happy Birthday Jay! I was a teen in the 60s. Your songs were part of my coming of age experience.
