First one was overture to Bartered Bride by Smetana, the Second Ride of the Valkyries and followed by Meistersinger overture both by Wagner, next was the overture to Don Pasquale by Donizetti - not too sure about the aria although it is very popular...
does anyone know what was the aria he sang? I'm trying to find it. Can anyone also list all of the orchestra pieces played in the first part of this video?
The four short excerpts at the beginning were: the overture to The Bartered Bride, The Ride of the Valkeries from Die Walkure, the overture to Die Meistersinger, and the overture to Don Pasquale. And what Domingo sang was from the prologue to Simon Boccanegra. I hope this helps!

Gee, I can't tell much of a difference when Domingo sings baritone. But I'm glad he chose to do this.
By the way, James Levine definitely is awesome. :)
