Heather, I never claimed to invent this game. I like the shotgun idea, but if you have ever got a lip stuck in a can while shotgunning, you know what a drag that is. Playing with the can closed will eliminate most of the beer once the can is hit, but I can see the appeal. I figured this may have originated in Canada. The first time we played it was with a bunch from northern MN.
I don't know where you guys are from but we have been playing this game for 10 years in Canada, we also shake the cans then throw, so you have to shotgun them, or stack one on the other if you hit the top shotgun the top hit the bottom shot gun both, hit a leg or body part, shotgun a beer.......
very good video. i like the cardboard idea but i think it might effect my throwing. the car mats are also an excellent touch. however, if you want to get super hammered i suggest leaving the cans closed, and when your beer is hit you shotgun the whole thing no matter where the hole is. this works much better by playing on teams but i imagine with the rate this sport traveled through north america there is hundreds of variations of the game. what a great invention.
