  • killer video mate, amazing day captured really well! brings back so many memories of the 5 years i spent in oz and the year on the goldie. awesome waves, weather and lifestyle. top country and fantastic people, i'd say to anyone if you get the chance to visit go for it.

landlocked in the uk and missing the waves, my oz mates and the tooheys pils.

  • @keroseen73 Thanks so much for watching. And for your awesome comments. Stay in touch and come and have a beer if you ever get back here. Cheers mate. Fantastic to get such nice feedback. I'm in my 40's and a soul surfer myself. Love to surf and have a few beers afterwards. Take care! geoff.

  • Fucking awesome video. Music, the way its shot, editing, awesome waves. Seriously one of the best surfing vids on youtube. Great song too, has to speak to every Aussie surfer.

  • @anurism1 Thanks mate. Much appreciated

  • @taazzyy

Oh well I guess if everyone loves the song then the artist won't feel so bad about one person not digging it. Having said that, I guess I was a bit rash or untactful and for that I apologize. I wasn't aware the artist would be viewing my comment; I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings. I wish them every success and thanks again for the spectacular footage.

  • When they say 6-8 he either is talking about the backs of the wave or the swell must have been like 6-8 ft at 20 seconds in deepwater (30+ ft), when wave periods are further apart, their energy stretches further down than normal, and wave periods of about 20 seconds become twice the size on shallow water than what they were in deep water. I agree, you should call a waves size by how big it is in shallow water, but this may just have been the forecast.

  • AT the end of the day nice clip .... Good stuff ...tracks a bit gay though

  • @DEOW1 thanks mate.

  • In NZ we measure from the back of the wave 4 ft wave 8 ft face ......6th wave double over head so 8ft wave here is about triple over head , im just saying thats all.

i t looks 3 to 4 foot .... the HYPE is always good but the footage say's it all!

  • @DEOW1 3 to 4 foot? you're fucking kidding right? 3 foot swell will produce a 6 foot wave face, that's overhead. @ 0:18 its easily two times overhead, more like three at the peak. 8 ft is a tad conservative on that wave. There may have been some smaller sets but you call a swell by its larger sets.

  • @DEOW1 And its got nothing to do with being a kiwi. Forecasters usually refer to the open ocean swell height as each beach will produce a different shaped wave for the same swell, some larger, some smaller. That's how people forecast waves EVERYWHERE as far as I know.

  • Nice vid Pal..... I'd call it 4 foot though.... not an Inch higher ,,,,, Might be a kiwi thing though aye mate......NZ reppin LOL South Coast

  • @DEOW1 are you saying that they don't teach you how to measure things properly in NZ?

  • Hi there,

almost every day I watched this video. I am a hungarian guy, who lives in Budapest. I spent one and a half year at palm beache, gold coast in 2008-2009. That was one of the best part of my life. I cannot wait to go back there and paddle out again.

    Awesome vid!

    Chris

  • FARK!!

  • Absoluteely amazing vid. Watched it so many times. :)

  • @ilovesmiles4 thanks mate

  • @geoffreyacharters thats easly 8ft+

  • if the guy is roughly 6ft the wave should be no more than 2ft bigger than him but its more like bigger than twice the size of them, why do people not understand measurements??????

  • @chainkiller999 you're probably right

  • @geoffreyacharters yea, I would say 7-10 maybe.

  • @geoffreyacharters we measure waves from the back of the wave !! so it looks about right 8ft will be about a 10ft face!!!

  • @69calds I was out that day, some of those faces were closer to 16 foot. The measurements of waves are ridiculously inaccurate and measuring from the back isn't helping that!

  • @chainkiller999 Because you measure a wave from the back.

  • Looks 8-10 ft

  • who the fuck disliked !?

  • This is mean!

  • heey wats this song called

  • and great vid

  • Tow in is the best method for freight trains like that - higher success rate.

  • This is the most fantastic surf video I have ever seen! I have probably watched it 50 times over the past year. The photography is great. The music is perfect. And the two are edited together superbly. Congratulations and thanks.

  • @roofer49 Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated and made my day. cheers...geoff.

  • @geoffreyacharters I was invited to surf in the 77 Stubbies, the year Peter Drouyn started the man on man format at Burleigh . I was injured before the contest and didnt make it to Australia. It still bums me out 35 years later. The waves for that contest were similar to your video. I would have smoked MP, ok just kidding he was my Idol But I was so bummed when saw the photos of Burleigh during that contest Well a big south swell at Malibu is a weak sister to Burleigh, but still great fun Gday

  • i dig the song is there something wrong with me? haha

  • Beautiful

  • more like 8 - 12 foot

  • looks sah fun

  • Nice song.

  • An uncomfortable combination of incredible surf with the worst song I've ever heard!

  • @tommyboyce Haha! Made a few of us laugh Tommy. No problems. Thanks for watching.

  • @tommyboyce

the song is awesome... what gives you the right to say something like that about a song just because it's not of your taste... Think about how the artist feels when he sees that comment.... Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you have to put it down like that for everyone to see.. Because there are loads of people who think the songs amazing...

In my opinion you are bang out of order with that comment

  • lol

  • 1.07 was about a 10 ft

  • that´s freedom!

  • i went on a holiday here, and surfed here, it was only 3-4 foot. but i got the waves of my life here. :)

  • shityeeeer, beautiful stuff

  • I'm from California, I surf Steamers Lane in Santa Cruz and that general area. Along with my need for adventure, this video is making me consider moving to Australia for college. Everything about it is beautiful. I've been looking into the University of Sydney, I plan on going into software development and electrical engineering. Do you know of any schools in Queensland that could support that major? Thank you! Great video again!

  • @thomasvermeersch Thanks mate. Try Griffith University Gold Coast, and Bond University. Both are very big. Also Southern Cross University is about 5 minutes from superbank. cheers. geoff

  • @thomasvermeersch I am from Canada and went attended Griffith University, awesome experience and have been going back every year since. I would look into the Bachelor of Engineering program they have. Not sure what Bond offers though.

  • @thomasvermeersch

Burleigh is never like this anymore but :(

  • @thomasvermeersch UQ in Brisbane a great uni. griffith and bond are fine to but they dont do the real fraterenity house thing at those. while in brisbane, the university of queensland has like kings and leos if you're into that sort of thing. brisbane isnt far from the gold coast btw.

  • Comment removed

anyway, these waves are easy 6-10 faces.

  • I haven't seen waves at Burleigh get close to this for a while, around 2 months ago I went down at 5am with some mates and caught some 7ft's. They were murky as shit and tubing like crazy. barely anyone was out. Just alot of camera's.

  • I can remember tht day, I went out with a couple mates to bodyboard :)

  • Yea quite a few of these are pushing 10ft. There is a 6fter or two in there, but mostly 8-10ft.

  • @iillyyia your my hero

  • @BigRoy1979 hahaha why? im just saying theres a good 12 ft on some of them waves

  • @iillyyia bro, he's measuring the waves they're supposed to be judged from the back not face... i'm a grom and i know that.
