  • The Other Woman trailer

  • @justin29m Hes right here

  • Ich liebe diese

  • parenthood :)

  • josh Ritter brought me here...

  • I thought he said

    "We cut through the warheads

    Our hands through the softness"

    instead of

    "We cut through the lowlands

    All hands through the saltlands"

I must say I like it my way, still great song.

  • I heard this on a trailer for The Other Woman. It's a great song.

  • This is a beautiful song. I first heard it for a football comercial.

  • Great! Glad to hear Josh's music going far places :)

  • Took me forever to find this song. I hear it on the It's good to back NFL commercial.

  • @pureblood40 Great song first time i heard it on the commercial i had to listen to it.

  • This song is very pretty...

  • I downloaded this song from itunes when it was a free download, shortly after it was released. fell in love with it right there! :D

  • When I saw this in the Back to Football commercial, I teared up...it's simply beautiful.

  • thank you football.

  • NFL Back to football commercial.

  • Like this if you knew this song before it was on the Back to football commercial

  • I heard this on the trailer for The Other Woman

  • Its time for some FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!

  • Parenthood <3

  • A nice 60`s style sounding song destined to become a classic thanks to the NFL!

Who the heck found this gem from NFL films?

Has a nice Chad & Jeremy-Jonathan King style.

  • Love it.

  • This song sounds like a rip off of Iron & wine's Trapeze Swinger. Not very original.

  • @scrawburry ...Kinda, but what IS original nowadays? Plus, this song is better than Iron & Wine's Trapeze Swinger, anyway.

  • @Equalizer919

It's not even close to being as good as the Trapeze Swinger, this song is horrible.

  • heard this on the "football is back" commerical. i immediately searched it on youtube. great song

  • Josh is an amazing singer/songwriter/performer. Met him at one of his shows one time, and he is simply *THE* nicest guy you could ever meet. Dude wrote a novel too! Seriously, check his other music besides this record, especially Hello Starling, Golden Age of Radio, and The Animal Years.

He's always reminded me of Dylan too, but he sings better.

  • football is back commercial!!

  • Heard this in the Football is back commercial and had to look it up

    Excellent song

    Reminds me of Bob Dylan

  • i love it

  • just saw the NFL commercial!! congrats Josh!

  • like if you heard it in the NFL is back commercial

  • The Other Woman trailer is where I first heard this and then the other night in Covert Affairs. Love it.

  • Covert Affairs s02e06 brought me here!!!

  • "I had a dream last night", too. It was about Josh Ritter. He's a cutie!

  • This song FTW.

  • @dorisbocchini54 idiot

  • I woke up to this on NPR on an interview - not so sure about this production! Solo guitar was great but I wanted to re-record this song myself with some more instruments but this is a bit crazy - Your heartstrings are pulled by the Eb-Bb-Ab-Bb chords with the third in the bass for Bb and Ab - a diatonic walkdown in Eb that keeps going to the 5th (Bb) as if that's the tonic but doesn't really resolve there so you start over at Eb

  • @Ivartshiva

It's an Eb-g-Ab-Bb7. The 5th7 solves the problem of flowing back to the tonic.

  • @DerekLenehan yes you're right the second chord is Gm, still I - iii - IV - V7 kills

  • @Ivartshiva eb bb??

  • lol jus heard this song of hellcats pretty good song made me think of my life and changes that time has made to it.

  • there is just something about this song that wrenches at my heartstrings. damn.

  • Love this song!!!! I heard this song when i was watching Natalie Portman's The other Women!!! Awesome!!!

  • Hellcats brought me here, and im glad to be here :)

  • @japanesegurl143 me too!

  • @japanesegurl143 what is hellcats?

  • This was I believe the third episode, of the first season which would have been last March. The song came on during the last few minutes of the show when their daughter introduced her boyfriend to the family. The dialogue of everyone talking was muted so it was just this song, it was a very poignant scene.

  • this is the only josh ritter song i know (i downloaded it for free on itunes a while back), and i love it. what are some of his other good songs?

  • @giraffe314 Start yourself with Lantern, The Curse, and Another New World-- but it's completely worthwhile to buy the whole album. Then, once you're completely in love with that, work your way backwards through his discography. You'll be overjoyed that you did!

  • @giraffe314 The Temptation Of Adam, Girl In The War, To The Dogs Or Whoever, Lantern, Thin Blue Flame, Here At The Right Time, Kathleen, Wings, Golden Age Of Radio, Harrisburg. That should be a good start for ya :) Beware though, his music can be addictive.

  • matthew good sent me here

  • @dhwasted I'm going to assume that the thumbs up and thumbs down are placed too close for people that are clumsy with their mouse

  • @burcharg ~ Hahaha... I was just about to post that someone made a mistake and hit the "DISLIKE" button instead of the "LIKE" button. How could you NOT love this song or the artist. Beautiful music.

  • ill never stop listening to this song. ever.

  • like this song a lot. i think he lifted the verse melody from Iron and Wine's "Trapeze Swinger". I know cause i've stolen it too.

  • @ninjatongue i thought so too the first time i heard this song i got the trapeze swinger and compared the two...there are subtle differences

  • never heard of parenthood. went to a "listening party" which was lame cause i thought josh was going to be there, but instead there were 6 people listening to his cd in a cafe here in san francisco. enjoyed the music otherwise, and have listened to it about 100 times as well! gorgeous lyrics.

  • Another Parenthood watcher here. Great song, glad I found it on here. FYI for those that had trouble--if you go to the Parenthood page of NBC's website they list the music featured in each episode.

  • I too discovered this on parenthood, and something about it caught my attention. For one thing, it fight that ending scene well. Like others said, nbc dropped the ball on the credits, googling was the only refuge for those who wished to seek out this excellent song. I will definitely check out some other of Josh's stuff.

  • I too heard this song on Parenthood Tuesday evenning. I had to go to hula the next day and then fastforward through the Parenthood episode to get to the credits, but it wasn't listed. So i just went to you tube and typed in time love and change of time and sure enough there it was. It's a lovely song. The guy that posted this listed it as May 23, when it was March 23.

  • @enkidu1936 - thanks for the date correction! So glad you found the song...

  • I'm quick! I just heard this on NBC's "Parenthood" and thought it was so beautiful so I found it!

This guy's awesome though! I got to see him perform live in Athens a couple of years ago!

  • If liking Josh's music is bad, I ain't never want to be good.

  • To say this is epic would not do it justice. There should be a new adjective invented specifically to describe Josh Ritter songs.

  • The song gives me goose bumps.

  • Josh reaches in your soul, grabs your heart, and brings out your most precious memories. GIFTED!

  • Probably the very best description of Josh Ritter's music that I've EVER read. How very true it is. Well stated Molly.

  • @marksamuelcohen

I lost my best friend Kathleen to cancer. I typed in "Kathleen" and discovered Josh. Then I found "Girl in the War". Both discribed her as if Josh knew her. I visit these songs often as a memorial. They bring me comfort and I feel closer to Kathy. Every song of Joshs' grabs at another memory. And isn't that what we hang on to, to get through the tough times? Thanks for your comment.
