  • A teacher in my school used to sing this to the class when I was a kid. However he distorted it. In his version the two boys both joined the army, but on opposing sides. And of course the ending was the same. I always took it that the boys' friendship had gave them the power to overcome war, and see each other as friends rather than indiscriminate enemies.

I always thought that's what the song went like. But when I found this... This is horrible. This is propaganda.

  • Lol watched this in music class and everybody jumped up and started singing! Times like those you don't want to leave:'-)

  • Bloody sick this is a very lovely emotional tune for kids and adults alike I grew up with this song. I hate what you've done to it.

  • Funny

  • Great great song-lmao @ "Fook

Me" just brill- happy memories listening to this! Good ole Rolf!!

    Merry Christmas all x

  • @MJLovesIreland thanks mate hope you had a great christmas too

  • Though the replacement of 'gayly' with 'daily' is a tad questionable the 'fook me' is class.

  • wierd sad little boy who created this had to much time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sure looks like the Japanese army. Conspiracy!

  • great vid, great song.

dont worry about the folks that complain about the 'fook me' bit, some people are just born without a sense of humour

  • why bother puttin fook me u could of just put fuck me or not at all

  • i used to love this song when i was small , but when i got to the bit in the video making fun of it i thought it was stupid because you just ruind it. it would have been a sweet video of rememberance of our child hood and you had to put

"FOOK" in it , its perthetic.

  • i agree man, what the hell are you thinking with this video, this is one of the most inspiring and groundshaking songs in british history, this is what people lived and died for to keep our country democratic. it's not just about war either, it's about everything that a self respecting english guy stands for.. i hope you got a good laugh out of making this man. it's a middle finger to the country i love

  • well said :) x

  • whilst i agree that this is classic song in british history, this is not a british song. it was first sung about the american civil war

  • idiot

  • im sori, i didt meen to cause offence, sum dope sent it to me, n i cudnt sleep peacefully without..i dunno..securin meself..

    bit rude tho

  • My first ever single. God, I wish I was just buying it again. Oh happy days.

  • Haha this was great , The "FOOK ME" took me right by suprise :)

  • It got a little dodgy when the real horse was a cartoon looking toy horse, but mostly a clever animation to a wonderful song.

  • wow! I luv this song!

my mum used 2 like always sing this song 2 me wen i was little!

  • Funnest thing.

    Its realllii guud too.

  • this song is played before hartlepool united's home matches, great song! 5*

  • Smashing!

I've watched "My Family at War" this week where Rolf discovered his Fathers and Uncles war records of WWI. Very moving and evocative.

    Long live Australia!

Very well done Adam, a touch of well timed humour in a deeply moving setting.

    Good show.

  • Makes me cry every fooking time.

  • like it m8 gd anni

  • heheee a my little pony lol

  • cool song

  • Brilliant. You got the ambiguity inherent nowadays in a childrens song about war, but still kept the childrens' songs ambience. The "fook me" was definitely in place. Brilliant!!!

  • lol I laughed at fook me

  • hahaaaaaaaa this makes me laugh

  • wenn a waz lirl mi nana n granda ust too sing it too me it waz thu onlyy thing that got mi n mi twin bro too sleep

  • i hav similar memory with my twin...we sang this in school concert aged 8...we still sing together professionally and we sometimes sing this if we r drunk and sentimental onstage...it happens despite professionalism!every night pretty much...

  • no affence but you sort o wrecked it with(fook me)

  • good as its really cool!!!!!:)

  • Love this one, makes the hairs on my neck stand up :)

  • Viva Rolf....

    this man from down under.....

Back in the 70s and early 80s, The Rolf Harris Show is on of my favorite tv programmes.....

  • Fook Me, that was great!

  • Good job.

  • that was gr8 well done

  • my dad used to sing this to me wen i was kid i loved it i like the bit wen its like do u think i would deing it gives me shivers even with his voice lol

  • Don't listen to them!

    It's great!

  • brill

  • FOOK ME spoilt it. And the My Little Pony looked outrageously out of place. The French horn at the end...well, that would probably only get at people like me, who know that a French horn CANNOT make that sound.

  • Good song but don't try to make it funny coz you failed miserably

  • brutal lol

  • this osng is the greatist

  • i think it is spoilt by fook me in the video

  • great again

  • great job great song and great vid well done i woul rate it A****** asweome íóéá :)

  • Just showing my small children as we sang this when we were kids. Why spoil it with the FOOK ME insert though !

  • cracking version of a cracking song. i find this song emotive and should be the battle song of any modern government. "I wonder if we will remember when we were two little boys"

  • awh that was adorable
