@GaM3RN3RD1 microsoft paid them. If they say this then more people will buy kinects and more people will but ME3 for xbox instead of the other platforms. Thats why bioware is doing this. Microsoft is paying them.

@Smdylan They dont expect people to buy the kinect. Also, a headset cannot process what the person is actually saying, it just transfers the audio from a person to another. The kinect recognizes speech word-for-word. Luckily I got a free kinect sensor from Microsoft during beta testing for the device, so I will give the speech functions a try in mass effect 3.

It's peanut butter jelly time!!!!! I was the same as these people in this video. I never got a kinect because it seemed like a useless "kiddy" gimmick device. Until now. ME3 using the kinect, at first I was skeptical, but after watching alot of these vids and reading up on it, I broke down and bought a kinect yesterday. Just using the kinect to navigate the dashboard is crazy accurate. So the response in ME3 must be sick. ME3 was already one of the best games of the year. This only enhances that

@Smdylan xbox headset does not recognize your voice. kinect was made to recognize your voice. i'ts a lot easier this way. old xbox 360 headsets record so bad quality voice that sometimes i can't understand other players. any microphone isn't enough to do voice recognition.

Kinect has built in voice recognition technology. Headsets don't. That's why you need kinect.

@dontreadmyusername0 socom 1 has voice recognition as part of the game code. Bioware would need to buy some or write their own if they wanted to use this route. I'm sure microsoft signed them a huge check to give ME3 an xbox exclusive feature also.

Y can't I use my headset? Kinect doesn't have a processor, so the voice recognition thing runs on xbox hardware anyway.
