  • Noo I Miss David Tennant :(

  • at first i thought he would be terrible compared with david but he has done very well against the hard act to follow xx <3

  • Next Doctor should be black.

  • I'm doing this comment for some time after Matt's started being the Doctor. And I can see most of these comments are either from last year or two years ago. I must say, at first I did not like Matt Smith, partly because David Tennant was the first Doctor I watched, so he kind of kindled into my Doctor and the one I was accustomed with. But, the more I watch Matt, the more I love him. He's a wonderful actor, quite cute, and he's sweet and has this sort of whimsical care free attitude that I thin

  • People seem to forget that there were other Doctors before David Tennant, and that there will be others after. Matt Smith is MY Doctor, but I know that one day he will be replaced, and hopefully I will enjoy the next one just as well.

  • I know something the rest of Brittan doesn't know *evil eyes* (Me: *faints*)

  • @ first I didn't want 2- give him a chance but the old saying goes u can't judge a book by it's cover.

  • I think he did really, really good :D

And I just need to get used to him I guess

    fish fingers.. lol

Do miss David though :/ he's my favourite ;)

  • Matt is so fit haha. When they first cast him I didn't really think he would be able to live up to David Tennant's standard, but I think he is possibly the best Doctor there has been so far!

When David Tennant first came, I thought he'd be brilliant but after time I must say I did start to get a bit bored after Martha left.

Now I just love Doctor Who again, once more I look forward to every episode! Oh and the new layout is absolutely great, too. :D

  • Love matt he's just so hot

  • exterminate

  • I loved Eccleston and hated Tennant when he first started. Now I love Tennant so I figure it's all part of the dr. Who process... I bet I'll end up loving Matt too. Plus he's just so excited about the role. It makes me feel like he really deserves it because he appreciates it.

  • Matt is said to be a friendly and charming person...I personally can't wait for the new series. I think this incarnation shall be very good.

Plus, I have a poster of him on the wall next to me :)

  • HEY wake up. He's gone, he's had his run now it's matts turn. David was good yer but you're gonna have to live with it he ain't coming back and there's no point crying about it. You have no idea what's he gonna be like so let's just keep watching. If he's good great if not well we have shout about. I'm saying go matt

  • I'm sorry, but you can't really follow David Tennant with... 'that'. I'm sure he's a good actor and all, but he doesn't look the part. And I'm not saying that he's ugly, it's just... no. This time lord is still a boy..! If not in age, then in appearance!

  • I'm particularly looking forward to seeing him face the Daaaaaaa... LEKSSS!!!

  • I'm all for giving this lad a chance, but David was sooo good. I'm nervous but I'm all-for being proven wrong. Good luck matey.

  • i completely agree.... i thought david was gonna be horrible but i am in love with him now <3<3<3 i wil give him a chance jst cos my boyfriends name is matt

  • Look me and my dad both thought that David was going to be rubbish at first but he wasn't so I'm going to give matt a chance ( and that's just not because my name is also matt) GO MATT !!!

  • I'll admit I was nervous... I loved Eccleston and love Tennant, but after hearing him speak, I have great hopes for Mister Smith! ;)

  • don't make superficial negative comments until you have seen his entire season...give him a fair chance!...you are not real fans you are tratiors in the eyes of your emperor davros and you worms will be sent to the red brick wall for extermination! stupid wretched earthlings..!.

  • dud this is the 11th regeneration if he sucks then the producers have just wasted 1 incarnation

  • @SpockBorg5

Colin Baker wasnt the best doctor, they wasted his incarnation.

  • 5,000,000 stars!...mission control all systems are go!...i am 44 and in the milwaukee timelords fanclub...lets give matt smith and karen gillan our new team 100 percent support and our very very best prayers and wishes!...he looks and sounds like doctor#11 to me! "hip-hip-horay!...hip-hip-horay!..hip-hip-horay!"-wisconsin

  • people thought that Tom Baker could never be replaced but he was and the same goes for Tennant and every other Doctor, give the guy a chance!!!!!!

  • dont judge him b4 uve even seen him

    he might be really good

but i must admit david tennan was 1 of the best doctors

just give him a chance u dont no wat hes like yet

  • u can never replace david tennant, THE BEST DOCTOR EVER!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • YOU SUCK !!! i love david tennant !!

  • no aviud teannant kicks ass why are you going tennant youre so cool everbody loves tennant

  • not me :D

I don't mind him, but meh.

  • He has this... thing about him. This kind of scruffy weird sexiness, like L from Deathnote... LOL. Yes I am comparing him to an anime character... so what. >XD

  • that is one of the best comparisons for him! <3 <3 <3

  • tehe :D

I thought of L the first time I saw Matt.

  • I doubt he'll be that good, but I'll give him a chance!

  • His hair's dark brown, not black, so he's not emo. His face makes him look a bit like a goth, but you can't judge a book by its cover... besides, I'd like to see a more ''childlike'' Doctor. He obviously has family who know about the show and he's played alongside Billie Piper, so he isn't virgin to it.

I feel -so- ashamed to be a fan hearing what some people have written.

  • More tennant!!!!!

  • WHY DAVID WHY U LEAVE!!!!!!! im not doubting this doctor i mean he seems like a good doctor to replace the doctor, but at the end of the day, there is only one David Tennant, man i wish they could make a clone of Tenant so when he leaves, the clone could replace him and be the doctor 4EVER LOL.

  • I don't like him. He's got the length of a sausage and the attitude of an alien!

  • Umm... Considering the Doctor IS an alien... Wouldn't that be a good thing?

I can't wait for Matt Smith, myself. =]

  • He is young but you're all missing the point. It doesn't matter if he looks young, but his age does bring a significant change to the part. Think about it for a second.

Eccleston said in an interview he was old enough to watch Patrick Troughton. Tennant has said that Davison was his Doctor. Smith is only 26. The old series ended in 1989. Do the math. He isn't old enough to have grown up with any of the old series. He is the first Doctor to have his entire frame of reference be the new series.

  • All of you naysayers can just be quiet, watch a couple of the new shows in 2010 and give Matt a chance. No one is ever going to be a better Dr. Who than Tom Baker who magically got better every one of his 7 years but I've found every one wonderful in their own way.

  • look at the head! it's squashed!

  • no its more of a banana shape :)

  • ew... where did his eyebrows disapear?

  • stuff you i like david tennant more than you

  • So fucking what if he's not as sexy as Tennant?

I doubt any of you whiny fangirls have seen the classic series and liked it, because it doesn't matter if the Doctor looks good or not.

If Matt Smith weren't the best one for the job, they'd have picked someone else.

Tom Baker wasn't exactly appealing either, but did that stop him from being one of the most popular Doctors?

  • =_=' ggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

    he better be good!!

he's too young!!!.......... let see if got what it takes to be the DOCTOR!!!!!

  • I think he's TOO young. He doesn't sound like the Doctor...he's not as hot....and he uses the word "flabbergasted".

    Frequently.

  • Well I guess at least now we won't have to endure the companions falling in love with the Doctor for a while.....

  • Looking forward more to steven moffat then matt smith. I'm just glad it didn't turn out to be david morrisey.

  • reminds me of tim burton

    he has a 'goth look'

  • I'll only like him if his hair doesn't look like that in the show.

  • he was partly chosen for his hairstyle too

  • I can tell you this, he's has a huge shoes to fill....

  • I have to say, when I first heard that David Tennant was leaving the show, I was a bit apprehensive. And then, when they started talking about who would take over from David, I really started getting worried :S

Erm, when I found out Matt Smith would be playing the next doctor my first thought was "Who the hell is Matt Smith?"

atm, I'm watching Moses Jones, which it very good, and he's succeeded in making me chuckle a few (okay, a lot)times :)

    He's growing on me ^^

  • I don't know who Matt Smith is. I hope he is a good doctor. I kinda wanted Rufus Sewell to be the next doctor..but, he is doing Eleventh Hour. Maybe he can be the 12th doctor? I really like Rufus Sewell! :)

  • That would be SWEET. I was hoping Nesbitt would take the role, that'd be freaking awesome.

  • I agree, the doctor should be really quirky. I think most people feel Peter Davison was not the most successful Doctor. He's a very good actor and I enjoyed him a lot as Albert Campion but he wasn't odd enough for the character of the Doctor. Tom Baker played the Doctor with lots of peculiarities and was probably the most successful Doctor . I guess the fact there's such a lively discussion indicates that whether a person likes Matt Smith or not there's a tremendous amount of interest.

  • i'm of the opinion that the Doctor SHOULD be odd-looking and off-putting. basing on looks and mannerisms, i think he'll make a FAR better doctor than tennant- such a horrid doctor.

of course, nobody will ever come close to baker. baker IS the doctor.

  • Yeah david is a good actor tho! but yeah i agree, he seems to showbizzee too average looking and normal.

matt seems like the right person for the job! hes weird and whacky but kinda cool aswell!

  • because no one liked colin baker , the writers played with that idea and poor doctor number 6 ended up saying "IM THE DOCTOR , WHETHER YOU LIKE IT - - OR NOT"

  • He is horrible hideous looking and a bit lanky and stupid sounding. If I saw him on the street I would think he had some syndrome or mental retardation.

  • BBC sure fucked up this time. Matt Smith looks like a geek I give him a year before they get a new actor.

  • Hey he has no eyebrows

  • the freak why every is bitchin about him not having brown eyes jesus if hes good hes good if hes bad at it hes bad leave it alone until the episode

  • Im glad i know who the next doctor is that way if a was disappointed i could get used to it

He doesnt look that bad n i fink he will be a good doctor .... as long as they fix his hair a little coz david has great hair ...:D

  • False alarm. He's not actually playing the 11th Doctor he is actually playing a mutated David Tenant for a few episodes

  • now that would be funny, i haope its a hoax =D cuase i'd rather want the next doctor to be a surprise :P

  • Love the idea of him as the Doctor already. He's a great actor so stop being shallow and discussing only his face.

I like it. Easy to caricature. ;)

  • hmm.. shall be intresting..

  • one word: DODGY.

i hate him. first time i've seen him and i hate him.

he's the sort of person you'd describe as obviously not being old, but he has that old look about him. he's and old geezer at heart.

  • lol so true

  • I hope that finger wagging becomes the Doctor's new thing.

I can totally see him as the Doctor, he has that crazy air about him. He looks like a kid, and I can totally see him all childishly gleeful over planets and aliens, but there's definitely something dangerous and edgy and thrilling and alluring about him.

The only Doctorish quality I can't see yet is age and experience and the weight of the world behing his eyes. I'm hoping he can bring some of that to the character too.

  • If RT thinks he is going to be good in the role, so do I - I trust that man's judgement 100%.

  • I think Matt is gonna be a great Doctor. True he has very active running shoes to fill, but I got faith. My only disappointment is that he is still not ginger (aka redhead).

  • This guy has fantastic energy, and an honest excitement about the role. I've been watching the Doctor since 1978, and I think Matt is going to be a phenomenal Doctor.

  • he's cute but I really gonna miss David :\

  • WTH!!! You mean they chose this goofy looking guy to replace the Iconic figure of the Doctor?

I cant believe whoever that is in charge of casting decided this guy would incite inspiration and a following

  • 1966- 'Wait... the Doctor is a good twenty years younger and has a Beatles haircut? This isn't the Doctor!'

1970- 'They can't replace the Doctor with a crushed velvet-wearing dandy!'

1974- 'This giant scarfed, grinning loon played by this unknown actor can't replace the Doctor!'

1981- 'He can't play the Doctor! He's 29! He's too young! He's nothing like Tom Baker!'

1984- 'He can't replace the Doctor! Look at that coat!'

    And so and so forth...

  • *high five*

  • now wait a minute! the first 3 make sense, but nobody liked Colin Baker even after he'd done the show for three years, and Peter Davison was just dull. >:(

  • nice

  • @manmiles best doctor who comment I've seen to date. I need to post it on my blog. hilarious

  • Comment removed

  • I don't think a girl would pull of the characteristics of the doctor. I will miss david Tennant he is my favourite doctor. But i'm sure Matt smith will be guud. Good Luck to him

  • yeah you guess right..

  • u look retarded with that...name!!!

  • wtf you're from america, go eat another cheeseburger tubby

  • yeah okay and then I will fart on u cuz of all that meat I ate and light a match and make the ATOMIC FART BUBBLE OF DOOM TO SINGE URE HAIR!!!

  • typical american attitude

  • OH FIDDLESTICKS!!!!

  • Hey now. Not all Americans are like that.

  • Oh and in the Library one, Professor River Song knew him and recognized him. River Song is the next companion of the TENTH Doctor so it wouldn't work if she met him as the ELEVENTH Doctor would it? Ya get me?

  • Yeah I thought this two, and there's been loads of continuation errors in the past I believe, a lot of the time though worked around eventually. I'm sure Song was introduced to all his past faces, through photos or something.

  • He looks scary. I wish David Tennant wouldn't leave he's the best doctor. But still he hasn't regenerated yet!!!!! NOT FAIR! I HATE YOU BBC!

  • I beg you calm down .

  • Another boring white guy? You've got to be kidding. Why not a woman for a change?

I'm pretty sad about this considering all the people that fans have mentioned they liked for the role. I think they should have taken a bit more of a risk. I'd be surprised if I can watch the show with this guy, and I've been loyal since '63.

I think the producers just want a young actor they can manipulate.

  • That would be funny...imagine the Doctor turning into a woman because something went wrong and from a deep voice to a woman's voice.

  • A woman or a black dude woulda been great; I want Paterson Joseph man. But like I've said before, I'm sure this guy will be great - they chose him.

  • he has no eyebrows?

  • OMG!!!! I HATE HIM!!!

David tennant was soooooo mush cuter!!(yeah? so what if i'm obsesed by him:))Anyway, he better be good...

  • I hate him too. He looks weird. David Tennant should SO not be leaving because he is mega popular.

  • Most were. Don't be hating. If RT and all the other execs says he's good, then he must be fooking brilliant. Don't hate man, watch and find out!

  • So? It's his choice and his career and if he wants to leave Doctor Who, then we have no say in the matter and wish him all the best!

  • He HAS got some big shoes to fill. But I'm afraid this is again a step in the "youngification" of all media. Don't know if the old school fans wille be able to accept a really really young doctor. We'll just have to wait and see.

  • He has got a strange face. Perhaps like E.T?

Well, we'll have to wait and see. He might be alright as the next Doctor. Mmm.

  • OMG if Rupert Grint played him I would lol. He'd ginger!

  • He almost... reminds me of Ruert Grint =]

  • the new doc it's ok

but I fucking hate the hair

    looking forward anyway

  • mm, I agree. It's a bit... eugh.

  • at first i was like noooooo! but watched this and i'm actually kinda excited to see what the new doc will be like, but david tennant will always be the best...

  • He's got some big shoes to fill. Can't wait to see how this works out!

  • I think he'll be awesome as the 11th doctor and I personally LOVE his hair. ;)

  • I don't think hes right for the elethanth doctor. But I hope I am proved wrong, I do agree, give the bloke a chance!! But a first glance he does not seem right

  • Well I like the eyebrows and the hair and I think he's super-cute!!!!!!!!!! And no-one ever likes the new doctor who when the casting is first announced! Give him a chance why dontcha? I think he's zany and yummy and has lolvely cheek bones!!!

  • Not looking forward to this casting choice but I hope I'm proved wrong when I see his first episodes... Kind of reminds me of Robert Smith, the lead singer of The Cure. Unfortunately, I don't like the new wave, unisex style at all...

  • I'm looking forward to seeing how he goes. I think he'll be alright.

  • Haha

    He doesnt have any eyebrows

  • I wanna be the 12th doc

  • you wish

  • its gonna be a disaster!!!!

  • Yeah where's the eyebrows??? Is his head that big or is it just all his hair. Get rid of all the freaking hair! I'm with others on here. I would have definitely preferred an older doctor. Is it the more they regenerate, the younger they get? Maybe next time they need to recast they should give Freddie Highmore's agent a call. Geeeez!

  • this is so gd i think he will be gr8 as the doctor, and he is so hot

  • Dude's got a touch of Rocky Dennis about him - Minus the eyebrows.

  • The silly people going on about david tennant's accent in dr who. David uses an english accent as the doctor, he is actually scottish.

  • I honestly wish that they wouldn't have spoiled this information, and would've kept us guessing up until his regeneration, wondering just who the heck he was going to change into. That's just my two cents, though.

  • dammit...i was hoping that "the next doctor" really was the new doctor...i wanted some like tom baker, or sylvester mccoy, or someone MIDDLE AGED!!! i want the old doctor back (sorry, still a fan of the old series)

  • Yeah i was hoping an older doctor,...

    like alan davies :P

  • he seems relli good for the part! at first when i found out that david tennant was leaving i thought that no one could replace him. but now seeing whose going to be the next doctor im quite excited to see what he can bring to the show. i am going to miss david tennant (his accent, glasses, energy and his smile) immensely though :'(

but hopefully matt will make the doctor his own and have fun with it! :)

  • How can a man with no eyebrows be the Doctor!?i miss David already =(

  • The Valeyard is next!

  • no he isnt! he stopped that, remember?

  • this guy is way too posh!!! nd he looks bre weird 2!!! david tennant 4eva as the doctor!!!

  • the 10 doctor will be in series 5 not matt smith, he will be in the sixth series

  • what is this guy like 12?

  • The newspapers seem to be going so mad on Matt now that they've already forgotten that David is still the Doctor untill 2010, they Did the same with Christopher Ecclestone no one seems to give a shit about him anymore, I hope they don't do that to David!

  • 5th season? then what is david tennet doing between the 4th and 5th seasons? cuz he is doing more episodes... what are they a part of?

  • i wonder if th series will dwell on the recuring fact thatwith each regeneration the doctors persona is getting younger as opose to other timelords who maintain their age inspite of regeneration???

  • I hope that's not the hair that'll be in the series.

  • its not theres a picture of him as the doctor!

  • even with the higher res thing on the url his eyebrows are still hard to spot.

this video has changed my mind though, looks like he'll do okay.

  • he might be alright!

  • he does this jaz hands thing lol

    his hair is sexy....?

    erm..yeh

    so....

OH im gnna miss david tennants crazy acting

think matt smith will have a lot to live upto but as long as he puts his own take on it n is charismatic he'll be fine!

  • Well I think he will do alright. But those of you who are to quick to judge this man then shame on you!!!

And I will miss David but he had to leave at one point...did you know he has some kind of back problem and he needs surgery so he cant do Doctor Who and Hamlet anyway!!

I am sure that Matt Smith will bring something new to the table and he will do his best!!

  • I think he'll be a cool doctor, can't wait to see the new series...even though I'll miss david so much!

  • I'm cautious but excited..hopefully he'll do great

  • i miss david already!!

  • Dr. Who has been on the air twice as long as this bloke has been alive!

  • three times as long, more like... =D

  • oh...they picked an emo....thats brill

    ¬¬

     _

  • I LOVE David Tennant and he will always be my favorite Doctor but he had to pass the torch down sometime and I guess he thought that it was that time. I wish the best for Matt!

  • hes my sisters type

  • i got good feelings about him :-)

  • Well I hate his hair, but other than that he seems alright. I'll definitely miss David Tennant, but the regeneration is part of what makes the show so awesome!

  • i actually LOVE him

    *squee*

  • Hes too old to play a 900 year old alien, who has the power to re-generate every cell in his body? LOL!!!

He's gonna be brilliant, and with that writer doing the showrunning - anyone could be cast, and it'd be awesome.

  • hey flock of seagulls..

  • The 80s called

    it wants it's hair back

  • the 60's called, it wants YOU back.

  • I love David Tennant, I love pretty much all the other Doctors, and I love the looks of this guy. His excitement is contagious!

  • I hate It, I don't like him and I think the BBC Is making a big mistake with letting David go and casting another Doctor so soon. They should have signed David to a movie deal and he would have been our TimeLord for at least a 5th season! The BBC and Doctor Who powers that be are cheep and should have given David anything to keep him on the pay role! I got a bad feeling about this!

  • letting David go?

You cant keep someone who WANTS to leave.

  • Interesting. Not what I was expecting at all. I'm not going to pass judgment until I've seen him in the role. I was sad when Chris left, but then David came on and he really became my doctor. Maybe the noob can do the same. Doctors regenerate. Such is the nature of the show. It's what's kept it going for 20 years!

  • No, it's what's kept it going for the last 45 years. Doctor Who was first transmitted in 1963, and the first regeneration took place in 1965.

  • Not quite. It was 1966.

  • Oh, but ofcourse - mustve hit the wrong number.

  • I don't know how Matt will be as the new Doctor. I can't,because I havent actually seen him play him yet,as has nobody else for that matter, but people seem to think it's OK just to say 'he's gonna be shit' well no one can say that, really, as no one can say 'he's gonna be great' if we havent seen him play the Doctor yet, then we can't just judge him, because that's not really fair. We'll just have to wait and see. x x x

  • david tennant was the best doctor ever but this guy looks great for the role. according to the bbc hes got a great new interesting take on the doctor so he wont be a clone of any prevous ones. hes a bit young, but if he was the best for the role, then who cares. I cant wait to see him as the doctor - bring on 2010!

  • Give the man a fair shot before you call him shit!
