  • Thank you Four Aces for a beautiful song

  • Unfortunately they just don't make songs like this any more. These old tunes had real meaning. Thanks for this great song, among my top three oldies and goodies.

  • Goosepimples!!!

  • THE MLLLS BRO &THE 4aces

  • What a great, great voice he had. Al Alberts could sing on key with perfect diction, loudly, without ever losing the meaning of a song. There will never be another like him.

  • Sigh, what happen to movies and music like this? Such a shame.

  • The Four Aces had the very best of that version. Many artist recorded it, but no one could sing it like the Four Aces. Al Alberts the lead singer is gone now, but not forgotten.....rest in peace, my man

  • extraordinaire! quoi dire d'autres?

  • these guys kick major

  • I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i think that their version's best.

  • Now thats music!!!

  • To my way of thinking they were the

best male quartet in the 1950s and

that hit song is a classic.

Wonder when this video was made.

    They sound great.

Joni James will be 80 in Sept of 2010

and she still sounds great in person

    as well.

  • the four aces of the 50's were the supreme male quartet....al alberts voice could rival the angels

  • Hello Four Aces lovers!

I'm Bruce Belland Co-founder and Lead Singer of the Four Preps.

Al Albert and the Aces were idols of ours. Al could wring every ounce of emotion out of any lyric.Check out some early Preps releases on iTunes or Amazon and you'll hear a lot of the Aces influence.

I love youtube! How else could millions of people world wide be reminded of past greatness.

Al Albert - Lead Singer Supreme - Rest in Peace my frined.

    bb

  • @TheFourPrepsWell hello ! 4 Preps. Loved your group also. Use to sing your song. Why don't you draft all the other Groups, when I was in Vietnam with the guitar player from our group. You did a bang up job of the 4 Aces, when you sang The Draft is a many Splendored Thing. Sounded like them . Thanks for your music.

  • @TheFourPreps -Bruce, Al Alberts and the 4 Aces were great. However, you are not exactly chopped liver. I saw you on Long Island in April and I told you you sound as good as you did many years ago. Your group inspired other west coast groups like the Beach Boys and Jan and Dean and of course Rick Nelson (with whom I share the same birthday,May 8). Keep rockin Bruce. To those youtubers who read this post, see Bruce and his group whenever you can. You won't be disappointed.

  • @TheFourPreps The Four Preps were as good as the Four Aces in their own way, and you are a fine vocalist in your own right. Like the Four Aces the Preps had a distinct and unique sound, and like all the greats you knew straight away who was singing the song. My favourite Four Aces song is A Many Splendoured Thing. My Favourite Four Preps song is Lazy Summer Night. Both such great songs and wonderful singing.

  • @frankiehiyo

i'm sorry, but i take offense to comparing the two groups. the four preps were good, but the four aces were great. there is no comparison, and you should be ashamed you even compare the two. it's okay though...everyone is entitled to their opinion, as jaded as it may be.

  • @mahonedb1 Why do take take offence? I wasn't comparing the two groups directly, I was merely pointing out that they were two groups at the top of their game.I have many records of both, and in my opinion they are great groups in their own right. They both have a distinctive sound of their very own, with a lead singer who is a first rate vocalist. With class fellow members it all blended together superbly. As Bruce Belland mentions, the Four Aces were a big influence on the Preps

  • I will miss good old UNCLE AL ALBERTS. God Bless Him & Stella. Grew up watching their show from Philly. Gary Holmes, Elkton, MD.

  • God Bless Al. He died here in Florida with his family around him.

  • This is the original group, possibly their final performance together. They sure sound great and that tight harmony was still there especially on the last note!

  • I was a fan starting in 1976, when I was 15. Adios, Al, I'll miss you.

  • these gentlemen do a great job on this beautiful song compared to the 1955 original group.are there any of the originals in this group?i was a 22 year-old college freshman at that time.brings back great memories!

  • This IS the original group!! All four of them.

  • Wow!it seems as if their voices and physicality as held up remarkedly well for their ages.

  • This was probably about 20 years ago, which would make them 65-70. The original group reunited in 1978 and lasted until 1989, and as far as I know did not sing together again.

  • @ Doowopdan

But they did have a get-together concert a month after the death of Al Alberts.

    R.I.P.

    Al Alberts

    Golden Voice, Four Aces

    Aug. 10, 1922 - Nov. 27, 2009

Mi Ultimo Adios, my good friend!

  • Al sang "Red sails in the sunset" when I was on the Show. He was magnificent, not a flaw, just like this performance. His voice sounded like no other. He was still in his prime when he gave it all up to do Showcase and to help others. God bless him!

  • I was a guest on Al Albert's showcase in 1974 or 1975 at a pier-amusement park in North Wildwood. I Handwhistled "You'll never walk alone". Al invited me into"the circle", and asked me some questions after explaining what I did. I just remember how nice and friendly a man he was, and how the 90 degree heat made my hands sweat and hard to seal! He will be greatly missed! Thank you Al and Stella!

  • so many wonderful memories being part of Al's Showcase Family for over 10 years... what a great guy... a sad day today with news of his passing... RIP dear old friend.

  • RIP Al. You will be truly missed.

  • Grew up listening to the Four Aces - LOVE their singing. Schomozyx: also born in 1940. Aloha from Hawai'i!

  • i love the 4 aces i love this song. one of the greatest ever composed. born on 1940 this song will for ever remind me my first love.....this song is the hymn of all lovers.

  • Unforgetable...Fond Memories

    Thank You Sincerly

    Mike

  • The first time i heard this song was when it was the closing song on 1 of the LEMON POPSICLE films and it blew me away!..Still does!!

  • just fantastic , i was very young when they hit the charts

  • This is a nice song, but Something's Gotta Give" should have won Best Song for 1955.

  • Wrong, pal. Perhaps you should listen to the music a bit more. Were you even alive in 1955?

  • É muito bom ver e ouvir o The Four Aces.

Sou um saudosista. Essa canção homônima do filme: Suplicio de uma saudade.

  • This is the original group, the real Four Aces, not the group who stole their name, the bogus group. Al Alberts and the Four Aces, the hit makers of the 1950's.

  • LOVE IT!

  • love this song....a beautiful song for those in love

  • Their songs also were a splendored thing! Bravo!

  • is there anybody who can upload the version of Tiongco Brothers. They can sing just like this group.

  • i wish i have a video of the tiongco brothers singing love is a many splendored thing. what amaze me of the tiongco brothers, is they are trio and they really sound alike the four aces. check them on imeem. fyi

  • The Best, nothing else to say, Simply the best!

  • they were the greatest group. i grew up in their era. when my sister and cousin went to see the movie, we sat thru it twice (u could back in those days) and boy did we catch hell when we got home as our parents were so worried. still my all time favorite song and movie.

  • tiongco brother's he he

  • What a great group from the early 50's. They tried to make a comeback in the 80's, but ran into a copyright issue with one of their "replacement" performers, I believe. A sad ending to this outstanding group. Anyone have any further information of this subject?

  • Thanks ALBAMARIA

    nice, 10* -

Happy New Year to both of you

    Carlinhos

  • Wow, they still look so young, except their hair is white now but still, I can hear their youth through their voices. =P

  • They still got it

  • Hosted Al Alberts and the Aces in the mid 70's....great group of guys and showmen...

  • I'm listening to this video/song again and getting emotional. Grew up in this era. I listened to them as a young group, and they have not missed a beat. Still sound the same.

  • the four aces best group ever

  • encore, encore. Such wonderful performers, they harmonize so well, they don't need to put a hand around their ears to hear themselves. They know their parts perfectly. Thanks for posting this video.

  • bravo !!!

  • Ótimo!

  • In Chile was a big success (1956-57-58-59). Actually, chilean radios are playing everyday. Youtube searh for DISCO 45 and VIVA EL ROCK AND ROLL (Manuel Vargas) and you will see an honoring to best music of all times.

  • Ive loved this group since the 50s and judging by this video they still sound great.Keep going guys.Andy

  • these men can still sing just as well as in their youth! They are so great. Best harmony group ever, I think. The movie was a tear jerker as I remember...I would like to see it again now.

  • UNFORGETABLE "FOUR ACES".. You're The Best For Me.. Thanks for Uploading.. God Bless..

  • this is the greatest song, sung my the greatest group. cried many a tear in the 50's. went to see the movie, loved it so, we stayed thru it again. parents were worried as to where we were. boy did we catch hell.

  • Where did it come from?

  • al alberts and the Four Aces are number 1

NOT the group out now calling them thefour aces...great memeoris from AL and the boys

  • Fantastic !!! Does anybody has a video of the Four Aces performing live in the 50's ? I would appreciate it...

  • The way music used to be. . .and should be still. Marvelous!

  • These guys (Al Alberts included) had a #1 hit with this song back in the 50's

  • Good post. I wonder if they could do this a capella. Billy Joel does it on The Longest Time.

  • Brilliant!.....This kinda music will last for ever!

  • Uncle Al..!!??! Al Alberts...such a Philly/NJ, Atlantic City Fat Cat but boy....could those guys belt out a Dago/Spaghetti, S. Philly, S. Jersey anthem..?!! I live in Los Angeles now...far from Lancaster, PA..I wanna go to Brigantine Castle, Ocean City, Avalon, Stone Harbor, Wlldwood, Cape May...or Sea Gert, Spring Lake, etc. I wanna Geno's Wiz-wit'..

I think Al wore a tux every day.

Thanks so much for this fine memory..!!!!

  • This was Great. Thanks for the post. You dont say what year this vid is from, but even though up in age, they sound fabulous. Far superior to whatever group is passing for the Four Aces today.

  • I've got an old 78 rpm by The Modernaires, on which they imitate Les Paul & Mary Ford, Johnny Ray and in the most schmalzy way The Four Aces. But I like them!
