they had just renewed the rules of the WTF/Kukkiwon poomsae competition and scoring.. now there is another so called New Poomsae ... I dunna understand where are the Kukkiwon will lead us now..To me the poomsae is more like Korean Tiger demo mixed with the ITF Hyung's style..
It's been more than a year since these forms "came out" & there's really not been any word on them. They didn't even demo them at the Hanmadang this year. It doesn't show promise that they will be used.
yeah i think this form is awesome, its shows more of the actual techniques that modern Taekwondo has evolved into. Quick foot work and fast kicks. A beautiful martial sport. TKD will always be my first love.
There's a little problem... Taekwondo like other martial arts it's more an art than a sport... In my opinion it's better that every martial arts continue keeping their original characteristics and don't evolve in something new
Its better to have a living art then a dead one, technology changes, society and the way we fight changes too,its important to adapt to the current environment n times to keep it up to date. Make it more effective by improving on it as time goes by. After all nobody fights with bows n arrows anymore, kuz someone invented the gun.same with TKD, if theres sometime good to improve on it why not do it? BTW your right TKD is more of an ART but at the same time its still also a sport.
Hey jakyb90 you do know the form IS for demonstration, it was developed for the new international poomsae championships by the kukiwon in korea for that purpose. The jumping kicks and the fast and slow movement make it more difficult to perform so it can be more easier to judge mistakes on the performers part making it easier for the judges to score n weed out the not so good competitor =]
Probably you didn't understand what I really wanted to mean and surely I didn't understand at all what you wrote... However I keep on not loving these two forms..I'm sure that what you said in the last part is true: the difficulties are the flying kicks and the different movements, but these things are the same things that I don't like!!!
Can you explain me better what do you mean when you say:"you do know the form IS for demonstration"... THANK YOU...
I like the speed differences, but I do agree that it is more Demo than Poomse. It is my understanding that this form is for competition, not demonstration.
I`m not sure for 40, but this one is for youth and the other one is for masters, and masters divisions begins from 40. So this Poomsae must be performed at least for 1st Senior division.
FYI, WTF in IOC banlist if WTF don't change their boring competition style

WTF & Kukkiwon tries to reform their competition style to be more interesting by "copying" ITF competition style.
They add poomsae where ITF has already has Tul competition from long time ago.

I think one of the strengths of TKd is that it has embraced the new without giving up its roots.

It's very hard!!! But I don't like it very much because of the flying kick, according to me,it's more similar to a demonstration than a poomse.
Secondly there are some movements wich are really fast and are very slow, there's a too big difference!!!!

It is for everyone except the masters.
So the 1st and 2nd Seniors should preform this Poomsae.
