Hey man, the various links between songs seem to be a bit crappy. Couldn't you make something more than a volume mix edit? For example, after "open" of The glass prison, u should've put directly the blast beat.
@YouLikeDoNow Yea. They do something like that in every DT album, like in "The Root of All Evil" if you listen closly you can hear footsteps from Scenes from a memory.
a downloadable version of this entire masterpiece would be much abliged however i understand that it could potentially take you years to upload it to a dl site, thanks for the listen though!

going to see dt live in helsinki on monday...disappointed of the setlists I've seen on the net so far...they are not punishing portnoy for not playing any song off the twelve step suite, they are punishing us the fans...
@savman765 in your fantasist Wow Theater there are 2 bassists and no drummer ? If you wanted to say Portnoy's a goblin no, just no ....remember there are humans in the game too ...I would rather see Petrucci and Portnoy both as worgens with the ability to turn back into human form...
About the dislikes, I don't understand why they'd be there. The only reason to watch this video is if you really want to hear a lot of Dream Theater, so you obviously like them to begin with. Internet trolls ugh
@MrTacoFly Linkin Park sounds like Dream Theater? then again Hybrid Theory was released a year before SDOIT, which reminds me the album is 10 years old this year and Images And Words is 20 years old
@Shotgunmerc Actually, that line comes from the Prayer of Saint Francis, which was issued in a modified form in the Alcholics Anonymous book, "Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions." Portnoy included some of its lines in "The Shattered Fortress."
@mcscheijgrond79 The 12-Step-Suite contains these 5 songs before you. its a compliation organised by Mike Portnoy- before he left. i believe there is a 12-step-suite edition of this out there, buts a lot more worth it to buy the ablums they came from. (Six Degress of Inner Turbulence, Train of Thought, Octavarium, Systematic Chaos, and Black Clouds and Sliver Linings, in that order)
@supercj8899 I'm afraid you're wrong buddy, Portnoy wrote the suite(that is the lyrics of the suite) all at once. The music for each part though, was written through the jams DT had when writing each album, just like they write the music for any other song. BUT, DT had focused on continuation between the parts so it would be one song, for example the last few bars of the first part and the first few of the second are identical. Also note the recurring motives through out the suite.
i so want to do a cover of this ENTIRE song gonna need some wild cherry pepsi,a piss bag with nose and a whole shit load of sleep along with a camera that can record up to an hour and portnoy's drum kit XD
Dude, I own all these albums and never thought of putting them all together with iTunes, but this is a great idea and thank you for doing it and saving me the trouble
you are listening about my life looking in from the outside. Thank you for your lives James, Mike, Jordan, John, John. Tears fall as I look at my life from where they saw it. Soon the whole TRUTH will be known. I have just came back from a LONG NIGHT. I am a little tired now. My family is my life. I have the most beautiful wife and two boys. Thank you again. :)TIM
@ShefMastaRyan funny thing is last year which was my senior i listened to this song during tests, quizes and homework made the class go by fast since my classes were 45 mins long XD
@chocolater101 DT's longest song is SDOIT because this is simply a compilation of songs that was continuing from SDOIT to BC&SL.. The songs are interconnected, but not counted as one song..
i agree. portnoy added those little touches to every DT song that give us the fans chills for example he suggested that they get the fans into the studio for the chanting parts of prophets of war. and he was just such a good songwriter in the band and i also loved his sense of humor and passion for the music. i miss him
i saw one of portneys last performences with iron maiden down in cleveland it was a sweet show couldnt hear myung that well though but they still rocked on pull me under and panic attack
i never really noticed that the root of all evil ends with a reference to octavarium. octavarium ends with a reference to the beginning of the root of all evil. quite interesting...

@supercj8899 A Dramatic Turn Of Events, their new album. I myself thoroughly liked it, it felt like more straight hard rock with an personalized emotional and accessible edge - like a cross between Awake and a good version of Falling Into Infinity. It doesn't stick in your mind, but grows on you very pleasingly, and sets a good standard after 3 albums in a row of middleground, derivative, undercooked playing/arrangements (though there are good tracks on all those albums).
@supercj8899 As long as they keep counterbalancing it with a lighter, thoughtful and emotionally based prog approach like on ADTOE, instead of a a mediocre thinly-spread 'pleasing everyone' one, such as on Six Degrees or Octavarium, then I'll continue to listen.
@Scratch47 well of course this whole suite, and a good bit of DT was Portnoy stuff, so we'll just have to see what kind of difference not having MP makes.
