Possibly a real gun, there was some recoil. You can lower the recoil by simply using low velocity rounds.

Actually assault rifle is a legitimate term. If you look up assault rifle on Wikipedia you will see it was used by the military to designate a rifle with specific characteristics. It is the use of the term assault weapon that is favored by the anti's. In fact it was an assault weapons ban, not an assault rifle ban that Clinton imposed. But I agree that it is best to use the term semi-automatic rifle instead of either of the others.

it is shooting blank rounds...but also an M-16/M-4 doesnt have much more recoil than that considering its only a .223 round (basically a .22 but with a bigger casing)
