Drunk Driving is stupid! DONT DO IT!!!!!!! I dont give a crap if your friends laugh at you. I dont give a crap if you live two minuets away or you cant afford a taxi. DONT DO IT!!!!!!!! It isn't worth it.
I question the glasses ability to accurately simulate intoxicated driving, but as a general rule driving drunk is a bad idea.
I feel for the victim in this case, having your bowels punctured allows infectious contents to spread around the inside of your abdomen, and I bet he had to fight some serious infections as well as the injury.
5 years? That's how long a DUI conviction stays on this drunk driver's licence? Unbelievable. How about upping it to 10 or 11 years, and giving courts in this state the option of requiring convicted impaired drivers to drive as learners, after they've passed another knowledge test? Perhaps the road test should be an extended version, as it is in Britain for many people convicted of a dangerous driving offence.
i used to drunk drive and I had to learn the Hard way....I hit a parked car going 65 the impact was so hard that my car bounced across 3 lanes onto oncoming traffic somehow I managed to steer the car back n somehow a little fence stopped it from going into a house, I was fine but one of my friends in the car was seriously injured, for 2 weeks I couldnt sleep or eat...the feeling of guilt is there until you see your friend walk out of the hospital...its not worth it at all, so please dont D&D...
not supporting drunk driving but wairing those goggles and being drunk are not the same thing at all. ive worn them and it shifts everything to the left
I think its more prevalent in America cos of the distances involved. I can get a cab to the centre of town for £14 so theres no problem there. If i couldn't then the options are.... dont go out. or dont drink.
i dont drive yet but my dad drinks and everytime he goes to a party i tell him to hand over the keys and call a friend to drive him there and back and luckily he listens!!♥ and i hope it will stay that way forever! and i know im just saying that now but i dont think im gonna drink because it kills you and ruins ur brain cells soo..... people who drink DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE♥☻☺ PLZ! don't risk ur friends and ur life just for a drink, orange juice, water, milk???
I think that would be kool training to use those goggles as part of a driver Ed lesson at highschools. Dunno if that would actually help much, but maybe it would be a tad educational.
my idiot boyfriend drinks and drives.... i try to preach to him about it but he wont listen... hes one of those who has to learn the hard way... i hope he doesnt kill someone...
i was just in a car with a drunk driver. it is very scary you wont realize that you are drunk until you really think or get pulled over or hit something. luckily my friend stopped him before he did any damage. dont drink and drive you are putting everyone at risk of injury or death
I am so sorry my brother for what you have gone through and what you have to go through I too am a survivor and know too well what pain you go through. I go through pain to this day both physical and emotional. My crash was in 2001. I was given a second chance and use it to perhaps help others. Thank you for sharing. Anthony
I had to write an essay on what laws i would change for NJ, and why i would change them. So i chose to change the consequences for drunk driving. I came on You tube to watch some videos for ideas and inspiration. i wanted to get some good ideas.
We pay taxes, We put law makers in office; so why is it so hard to protect people from drunk driving. There should be no second chance for drunks to walk free. If we are manged and crippled due to their drving, we have no 2nd chance! IT'S JUST STUPID. I've had 2 car wrecks in my life and both times I was hit by a drunk driver, I'm terrified that it could happen again.
the punishment should be min. 5 years in prison, 100,000 dollar fine, and your license taken away permanently. how is hitting a construction worker have a higher much higher fine then dui
Our credit is ruined. Our injuries weren't awful, still we each had $35,000 in med costs during the 1st 3 months! The driver in the 1st wreck, the one that hospitalized us doesn't even know how it affected us because she accepted a plea and didn't go to trial.
My Brother was killed on the way home from the movies with his wife and children a drunk driver crossed center lines and hit my brother head on. He died in front of my 2 year old niece and 6 year old nephew. His wife was in a coma for a week and 6 ofh er ribs were broken and so was her leg. The driver was a 26 year old with two other dui's
I am so sorry to hear of your lost, I think they should have more stricter laws. I know there is alot of bad drinkers here that just think its not going to happen to me. It drives me nuts.. its bull, they need to be causht.
Thank you for making your story available to us. My husband and I were hit twice in 7 months by UNINSURED DUI drivers. ONE NIGHT in the trauma center cost $20,000. EACH! We had NO option where we went. Our Auto Med insurance limit was $10,000. Our other med ins kicked in. When we got settlement from our auto ins co, we had to pay a high percentage of that back out of the settlement.
i forgot to add that her neck was broken & she's paralyzed from her chest down. she was 17 at the time. (we're now 22) she's not bitter, just thankful to be alive at all.
"exaggeration?" my friend was in a wreck and her hospital bills went over a million. when you pay 150. for them to give you a damn tylenol, what do you think they charge for surgery, medicine? my bill for having my gallbladder out is 20000...some people don't realize the effects of these things--not just physically and emotionally, but financially, as well.
DUI shouldn't be premeditated murder...have you ever gotten in a crash? you feel terrible
just imagine how bad they feel after they ruin someone elses life and have to stay in jail for a certain amount of time. imagine having to live your life around the worst mistake you ever made.
also...750 grand? seems a little steep like your exaggerating for a fake sounding effect...
The guy who hit my dad still claims his innocence, and it's good that you are remorseful. You sound genuine. And yes, 750 grand does sound steep but it's true. He's been in and out of hospitals for 11 years.
Totally agree, DUI needs tougher sentences- like if they gave the electric chair to everyone that killed someone while drinking and driving only the most hardcore would still do it and they'd be easier to catch and lock up.
Agreed there is no excuse for getting behind a wheel after having alcohol. Its just a simple matter of planning things and if u do end up getting caught out im sure the owner of the pub wont mind you leaving the car there overnight whilst you get a taxi home. No excuse, no excuse at all. The law confuses people by saying yorue OK to have a bit. It should be youre not allowed alcohol period if youre going to drive.
your entire family??? oh man, I thought one friend being killed was bad- I wish the best for you-drunk drivers should be given the death penalty b/c they never serve life sentences and often repeat their crime after being released fron jail... God Bless!
The guy that hit my dad served 9 months on work release and paid $2,000 in restitution... my dad has $750,000 of medical bills... so no, one night or one year in jail is not enough.
Huh... Small world. Actually had to do a double take when the first thing I saw was the word "Kennewick". (I live in Richland.)

39% of all fatal car wrecks involve alcohol. Then their are the survivors who suffer, it's a pathetic problem in our country, my sympathies!
