oh my god! wow this is some of the coolest shit i have ever seen or heard love it man ! i had never even heard of this guy befor yo. so glad i stumbled on to this video
I never heard shit like this before playing Beethoven. I'm glad I did hear it tonight.
What a great arrangement of the piece. I love it man...The soul of the the bass and brass and then the power of the lead guitar round out a great song.
hahaa "This sounds like sex" haha yeah... the feeling is like that, but I don't come listening the song... maybe if you would put this song in the background of a porn movie... hahaha This is disguisting haha let's talk about music again... haha MARCUS! (Clapping) MILLER!!! (Clapping)
I agree with the people saying that Beethoven would have been proud. Lol the concept alone of electrified instruments would probably make someone of that era's mind explode
Excuse me, this is a discussion forum where we share our opinions. I'm sorry it doesn't always work for you, but that's the way it works. So spare us your tantrums.
Love the whole thing, would have loved to hear Marcus rock the actual bass part at/around 2:12. It seems to be missing the balls that the original composition had. Not enough to ruin it for me, still unbelievable technically, and musically original. So groovy.
sorry but a classic is ment to be done in a classical sense. lets take bb king and make it a country song and see how much marcus likes it.. looking for the keyboard cat on this one! play me off.
I'm sure he would have opted for jazz bass as the main instrument had he the option. I can see him now; unleashing an Anchorman-style performance on bass for young Julie.
I love Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata the classical way but, this dude has just blown my doors off!!!! I have actually never heard Beethoven played so differently and with such passion. I would love to hear him do all of Beethoven's music. He has mesmerized me.
@JustinJaybrown No i don't, i don't even play bass. I just disliked this arrangement and it is my right. In despite of it, I really like markus miller, he is the only bassist who made a "portrait of tracy" cover that i really like. So if you are not an idiot, do not disrespect people not liking the same things as you.
@JustinJaybrown and if you are not an idiot, do not insult people you don't know. But it is maybe the only way that allows you to get some attention. I'm sad for you guy

Moonlight Sanata has always been one of my favorite songs. But tonight for the first time, I not only heard it, I felt it! So moving and heartfelt. The man knows how to translate from classical to jaz. Beethoven would be proud to hear this!
Love it! I think the transiton from a classic in one form into a classic in a new venacular is amazing. All the haters its not like he wasn't true to the song, he just infused it with blues and soul, which is just plain talent. Great interpritaion, feeling the song in his heart and making it his own, thats what good mucsicians do!
@Vizillar2505 Electric pickups work by the vibrations of the strings breaking a magnetic field thats being created just above the pickup. The cover alters the way in which that takes place by trapping that "reaction". But mostly...its just because it looks cool :D
I bet that some of the people who don't like this interpretation love watching their 10 year old at a piano recital stumbling their way through the original. Authenticity does not necessarily imply superiority.
I played and play this song using Piano. But I do appreciate this version. and I'll answer to ALL the people: at our days, Beethoven cannot play this song as at his old times.... because instruments...are changed!!!!! I think that an artist like Beethoven, if still live, will try to sound it with any kind of sinthetizer!!!!

@Rolinger56 I don't think you're in much of a position to say what you think Beethoven would've liked. None of these instruments were around in Beethoven's time.
@Flatwound1000 i don't believe that it's relevant so say if the instruments were there or not. the bass wasn't there during his time. the only difference between any instrument really is were it lies on the harmonic spectrum. they're all doing the same things. however, i AM in a position to state what i think he would have liked, were all entitled to our expression
@Flatwound1000 you are an idiot beethoven was a master of music he would have fell in love with todays musicians and they new use of what they have. and not to mention pioneers of their instrument such as he is and such as marcus miller is.

Well I would probably not call this 'Moonlight Sonata' but something more lyrical that describes the reinterpretation in a better manner.. such as...

Thank you nonetheless for sharing.
