  • I make too little a year to pay income taxes, and I'd rather pay property tax. The whole concept of the income tax simply unnerves me: it implies that the government owns all you earn.

  • Ron Paul 2008!

PLEASE view my channel for more Ron Paul vids!

  • "people get the government they deserve" so true, and unofortunately we do not deserve ron paul, but it's not too late

  • When did this happen, any one know?

  • RP08

  • I was interested in him,so I watched this and other interviews. Regarding FEMA in an earlier segment,he was asked what he would do instead and he just yammered on and on,but never answered the question,or offered any alternative. Regarding taxes,he just says get rid of them and talks and talks but never says how it will all get paid for without them. Very disappointed.

  • With FEMA he just said he would get rid of it, they get in the way and locals would take care of it, he gave and example in his town and said the FEMA ordered the local police and red cross around and were not effective. Then he said people who don't live if high risk places should not have to subsidize people who do.

  • Yeah, but a disaster can happen anyywhere. He says get rid of taxes too. Texas did that and their property taxes are thru the roof. Do it on the federal level too? How do we pay for anything?

  • But aren't we paying incredible taxes anyway, sales tax on all food and gas and everything we buy inlcuding property tax and income tax, where does it all go? I don't think he could or would get rid of all taxes, but the fact that he wants to get rid of a lot of taxes is good to me. Besides income tax seems illegal how can you be taxed on your income, it's not capital. He says most of the money goes to bureaucracies and not to the people enough anyway. I agree with this.

  • Why should you NOT be taxed on your income? Much more fairly than now without the endless loopholes for the rich? If Texas is any example,it would be a disaster. Who pays for schools? Police depts, etc? Most of the money is wasted yes,but that means reform not elimination I think.

  • Property tax pays for the schools and police department. What about state taxes on all goods where is that going?

  • State roads and bridges, state government buildings and maintenance, jails, all state gov. salaries, expenses, computers, equipment, utilities, fire and rescue, much more.

  • Infrastructure and everything else. in states with no state taxes,it has to come from other sources, like property taxes.

I see that you are in the 40% bracket, which probably means you are better off than many people, but for lots of us,continuing to pay such high property taxes after retirement,or catastrophic illness,or divorce, for example, would be crushing. At least with income taxes, they go down if your income does.

  • Search and check out: Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich? P1

This explains the problem of the privately owned Federal Reserve which is allowed to print money to make up for short fall, which creates inflation that the middle class must absorb.

  • With no federal assistance from taxes I think local levies would scream out of sight to make up for it, I would prefer reasonable and fair tax reform.plus dont forget all thses promises require Congress, and nope, cannot see THAT occurring. I would like to see practicable solutions, not pipe dreams.

  • Locals dont have the resources or equipment. You will be taxed out the butt locally to try to anticipate regional emergencies,or God forbid, come a disaster, hung out to dry.

  • If I didn't have to pay 40% of my income back out in taxes then maybe I could buy property and pay property taxes. He says if he was to live in a high risk place then he should have to pay more for it with insurance. I don't think he could get rid of all the taxes anyway, but the Federal Reserve has got to go, they create inflation which is another tax on the middle class.

  • Ok if yout bracket is 40% you are better off than I am. I cannot pay $5000 a year on a 150k house, and that is just to replace STATE taxes. Federal Reserve is another story,so we agree on that one.

  • All of your comments encourage me to believe this might still be a great country. i had given up hope.

  • Its too bad that the repub party will not elect Ron Paul as their candidate. So we have to WRITE HIM IN! as our president in 08!

  • I defy anyone to show me a video of another candidate that speaks this extensively and with such focus on details, reason, and logic. Ron Paul is the only Candidate that actually Educates his audience while speaking to them.

  • I urge everyone who supports Ron Paul to make copies of this entire interview and give it to every person they know. If people after hearing this eloquent, smart, common sense matter of fact argument and policies don't vote for this man and become active in getting him elected then may God help us all.
