"You must be jealous?" No. You'll never get anywhere being jealous. You must respect them, you must learn from them, and above all, you must realize that once you reach the realm of Hendrix, SRV, Clapton, and other guitar gods, no one man is better than another, only different - so you never can become better than Jimi. You can just learn to incorporate his style and sound in your own music. Or you could relegate yourself to playing in a cover band for the rest of your life.

Um, if that disqualifies SRV from being a guitar god, then every guitarist ever is immediately disqualified as well. Any guitarist you can think of - SRV, Hendrix, Clapton all included - is just an amalgamation and revampment of the guitarists who came before him. That's not a bad thing or an insult at all, though - that's just how music evolves. Musicians are influenced by other musicians.

You dont understand. Im not saying all the artists he copies from are crap, i love the artists that he copies. Im saying hes realy unorigonal and that he just plays famous lead blues lines and solos over his own rythms that are basic. And because he copies the famous artists to such an extent, i class it as being far beyond "influence" but just pure copying. I'm sorry if it offends you but if you listen to alot of blues then listen to SRV you will see how badly he rips off everyone's solos
