For our North American cousins...Bauhaus were unmercilessly slagged off by snobbish critics in the music press here in the UK in the early 80s...
They were best appreciated live...easily the best of the "Goth" bands and the most original-Bela Lugosi Dead,Stigamta Martyr,Hair of the Dog-no other band sounded like that-not even Siouxsie and the Banshees
This band is fucking amazing! They have lost nothing. This band is one of the best and they have influenced so many different bands of many different genres. Thanx for posting this!
'Compare and Contrast to what U2 say to their fans'? Don't think so. One could care less. The music speaks and as a result they have gained us fans who realize we are lucky to have them. Sorry the band will not curtsy you in between songs.
I'm still trying to figure out how I slept through them the first time I heard them. Peter glared and flicked me off (only pair, my girlfriend were the only sitting down) and I returned it and went back to sleep. Go figure.
BAUHAUS do covers. Get a life. Living Icons don't do covers. THE YOUTH TODAY. NO UNDERSTANDING OF THE CULTURE OF THE PAST. THAT IS WHY YOUR OPINION IS SUC KS.
Um, yes they do. Bowie has done many covers over the years. Johnny Cash did a ton of covers while he was alive. Bob Dylan has done some covers. I could go on, but, y'know... no need to rub it in about how wrong you are.
Oh Please, you know what. Bauhaus do covers out of appreciation to their own "legends." Do you honestly think they intented or imagined Ziggy Stardust would get the attention it did? They do it because they are passionate, respectful, and they never take the whole "buisiness" seriously. That's why they work, they leave room for humor, instead of "the gothic veil" everyone has thrown over them. Fishcakes anyone? Or drumsticks with mashed potatoes?
NIN over BAUHAUS? wow...it's ok. the kid's probably still learning. Trent Reznor and other bands these days would not be as great as they are if it wasn't for BAUHAUS!
Ok if we REALLY want to go back to the first of them all, listen folks, it's ALICE COOPER. He predates the glams, the goths, the Sex Pistols, everybody, pretty much. But for you babies out there, yes, obviously Trent was influenced by Peter...and he was influenced by Bowie, etc. It all goes round and round, and it's all good! :-)
oh and im going to see them on the 7th of july with nin and IM GUNNA WEAR MY BAUHAUS SHIRT TOO!!! MAN I CAAAAANT WAIT!!!!! im gunna record almost the whole bauhaus concert so check up with me after the 7th to see what songs i put up!!
i must admit...i am a die hard nin fan and i must say that they put on a GREAT SHOW EVERYTIME i see them.........HOWEVER!!!!! Bauhuas are the by far one of the GREATEST BANDS TO EVER WALK THIS EARTH!! they are not only the founders of goth but they have influenced soo many other bands INCLUDING NIN!! so with that said.....BAUHAUS FUCKEN KICKS ASS!!!!!AND ARE ORGASMLY GOOD LIVE!!!!
I noticed... is this some new use of the word I am not aware of? Did you mean "regurgitated?" Because I've done that on chicks at concerts before. Spewed up all of the colors of the rainbow
Bauhaus sucks live, that part of the show felt like it would never end, I almost fell asleep--ALL I WANTED WAS NIN!! and bauhaus wouldnt shut up!! but then NIN came on and rocked it royally so all was well--FUCKING AMAZING NIN SHOW!!
SASQUATCH!!! Oh man this rocks so much! They're BACK and their madder than ever! Peter's gone completely loco! All those crazy antics and poses and that final, brilliantly arrogant, statement. So cool. Fantastic! Can't WAIT to see them live again!

"Thank you. We are extremely lucky to have you! AND YOU ARE EXTREMELY LUCKY TO HAVE US!"
Love it. Love Peter!
Only he can pull off a line like that, well to those who are real fans, and get away with it with praise and agreement. Indeed, we are so very lucky!
Richie

If you listen carefully, he said "We're lucky to have you...and you're extremely lucky to have us".
I love their music, but I'd say that's not a very humble statement. Compare and contrast that with what U2 say to their fans.
larkydozer 3 years ago
I think you will find his tongue was wedged firmly in cheek when he said that!
A recent review of the new Bauhaus album in MOJO magazine concluded"Preposterous but this time knowingly so".
So I doubt any lack of humility!-more likely dry sense of humour!

If "one could care less", then logically, their opinion does not matter.
