An excellent list. Absolutely excellent. Does anyone know how hard it was to find some of the footage he's got wrapped up here? I'm amazed someone took the time to put a wrapup together. Everyone needs to realize we were growing up when this was being drawn, and every day we ran home from school to see what crazy thing was going to come on next. Personly, I was a Force-5 lover, and Gaiking took the taco. But to not see him in the top 10 doesn't bother me at ALL. I'm just glad to see him.

When I first saw SEED ep.1 ending I thought it was gonna be the greatest Gundam seris of all time. I terribly wrong, by the time they made Stargazer, I had to cry for gundam seris. Counter Attack of Char has to be the best Gundam seris ever. Oh and those of u who argues that Kira is a better pilot than Amuro... -_- wtf??? watch all the seris before u speak. Amuro has 100% flee rate. The only thing Kira has on Amuro is better Gundam that has ridiculous spec.

I don't know man, the list is wrong, when i read top 20 japanese robots i expected to see 20, you skipped a lot of series, Albegas, Mazinger O_o, Daltanias, Golion, Dairuguer XIII, the guy who transformed by pressing his gloves, Mazinkaizer Z, a ton of others.......how could you miss Mazinger.......

Personally, in my opinion first off Astro Boy should be in the top 10. Most of those shows, people have never even heard of. And if you want to go for what's number one, I'd say Macross all the way. Looking purely at the robots/mecha, Macross designs are far cooler looking than anything to come out under the Gundam name. Come on, Zentraedi Officers pod vs Gundam? No contest. PS - If youtube has a 500 character limit, it shouldnt let me type more than 500 characters into this stupidass box!

anything controlled by a human is a mech but take a look at gundam wing there are two times i can remember that when the suit's acted on their own or in response to someone,sandrock and quatre he was going to selfdestruct the cockpit doors opeaned by them selves and after quatre got out the suit started walking on its own toward the enemy and well if you have ever seen gundam wing you should remember when heero used to talk to wing its optics would glow green in responce

You didnt even base of their rating's, only from your prospective point of view. 2. You combine all Gundam's however they have different rating's, stories.

"Technically" everything that is not controlled by a computer of some sort, A.I. in the best case, is NOT a robot. Mzinger Z is NOT A ROBOT from a strictly technical point of view that you imply.

Still the terminology for these kind of show is "Robot shows". Mazinger Z would be a "SUPER" type, Gundams would be "REAL" type. That's the modern terminology used fans and anime creator alike. Live with it.

If you all are gundam fans than none of you should ever put down Amuro, he started it all, he is a legend still, though the new people who start watching gundam may not know him, he started it all and every few gundam series they still reminds us of that boy jumping into a gundam to protect his friends, like kira in seed did, Kamille in Zeta or Garrod from gundam x, ect. you get the point ^^/

SEED fails hard, and so do Wing and Destiny. I like UC a lot, but I'll agree that Newtype abilities get a bit stupid sometimes, and ruin the "real"ness of the suposed Real robot genre it represents. (Like the end of CCA, and Biosensors.)

However, Turn A is a masterpiece, one of Tomino's best series (If only for depicting realistic character interaction) and G is just...awesome. I've never seen X yet,though...

The main thing people have against SEED Destiny is that it is, pure and simple, very poorly made. The writing's bad, the characters are unlikable, the animation quality is worse than it was in ZETA(Made in the 1980s for crying out loud), and it's against the hallmark Gundam tradition:

I think completley opposite I can't tolerate Universal century gundam. I hate magical powers Oops I mean newtypes.  Genetic engineering makes a lot more sense. My favorite gundam series are in this order

1.Seed

2.Wing

3.G gundam

4.Turn A gundam

Seed shouldn't even be considered Gundam. In fact, all the non-UCs are a disgrace to the Gundam tradition. But I will give you credit though, it was a great video, till Seed.

Seed has every right to be considered Gundam, as well as other Gundam series. GSD was terrible I'll say that. "Anything thats not from UC sucks!". That's what all UC n00bs say. They still kicked ass in ratings. It's not like I hate UC, I'm a big fan. If it weren't for new Gundam series (that take place in an alternate universe) people wouldn't pay much attention to Gundam this day. Thanks to alternate series, Bandai has taken the time to add to the UC universe (Igloo).
