I fell in love with America when this happened. I was an 8 year old English kid (son of a British army NCO) living in Germany (Rheindalen) I had been hit by a car and was in hospital in Waldniel. I watched this along with half the rest of the hospital on TV in the TV room at the hospital. It took me another 25 (33 years old) years to realize my dream of moving to the country I fell in love with when I was 8. I have been here 18 years and have never regretted it for a moment

The stars are not visible, because the bright lunar surface overshines the faint starlight. The camera setup was adjusted to take photos of the field of interest, and this was the lunar surface.

@yourmajezty The camera used to film the first moon landing was stowed in the Modularized Equipment Stowage Assembly (MESA) , (google it). Armstrong pulled a D-ring and it deployed the camera set to film the first steps on the moon.

@creamrising Virgin Galactic's SpaceShips 1 & 2 were not designed to go to the moon. They are strictly sub-orbital spacecraft. They do not carry enough propellant to leave Earth orbit and even if it did, it would never be able to land on the lunar surface. The best it could do is a slingshot orbit around the moon to return to Earth.. There are probably numerous other reasons, but it all boils down to what it was designed to do. Just as the Shuttle was not designed to leave Earth orbit.

I think this film certainly tries to put over the tense last few seconds before they touched down even if the animation was well off the mark. There would have been no exhaust plume and no sound outside at all. ... and the music drowned out the drama of it.

@yourmajezty The camera used to film the first moon landing was stowed in the Modularized Equipment Stowage Assembly (MESA) , (google it). Armstrong pulled a D-ring and it deployed the camera set to film the first steps on the moon.
Someone else wrote ^^^ that, but to make the long story short, he pulled open a hatch which held the camera

Why can't Richard Branson's "space ship" the Virgin Galactic go to the moon? Are we to believe that it is technolgically inferior to the Apollo missions from over 50 years ago? What specific advantages (technological, design, computing, navigation, material, engine, thrusters etc.) did the Apollo missions from have that the Virgin Galactic does not? How specifically would the Virgin Galactic need to be improved so it could do a fly by of the moon?

@creamrising Virgin Galactic's SpaceShips 1 & 2 were not designed to go to the moon. They are strictly sub-orbital spacecraft. They do not carry enough propellant to leave Earth orbit and even if it did, it would never be able to land on the lunar surface. The best it could do is a slingshot orbit around the moon to return to Earth.. There are probably numerous other reasons, but it all boils down to what it was designed to do. Just as the Shuttle was not designed to leave Earth orbit.

Seriously though, isn't it a shame that every moon landing video is stuck in the rut of hoax theories. I think this film certainly tries to put over the tense last few seconds before they touched down even if the animation was well off the mark. There would have been no exhaust plume and no sound outside at all. ... and the music drowned out the drama of it.

@mkzsss The flag doesn`t wave,it moves after being handled.the movement was exaggerated by the Vacuum of space,and the flagpole and horizontal strut were made of very thin aluminium to save weight.The flag only slowed down because of friction between the flag and pole,as there was no air resistance on the moon to slow it down.This is why the flag has exaggerated movement.

@MatrixFactoryGuy You`re right about the computer power,but unlike an X bozxetc,all the onboard computer had to calculate was direction changes etc.it did one task very well.Any more complex problems were refered back to Houston`s mainframe(less than 2 seconds delay)for it`s time the onboard computer was absolute cutting edge.Some earlier low orbit missions had no computer at all,as did the Soviet Gargarin mission-were these all fake?.Why didn`t the USSR expose this" hoax"?
