Drips and drabs .. the online forum discussions are less-than-stellar as well. No single, step-by-step unambiguous tutorial exists out there. It's all drips and drabs and that's a formula for disaster IMO.

what i want to know is if the acid is so strong it can dissolve platinum, how does plastic bucket survive. its the same mystery that makes teflon stick to the pan.

if i remember right, you make the ar out of boilng the hcl or nitric while adding ???, then you snip off with tinsnips all the gold bearing portions and drop into mix. once dissolved you add the precipitant that makes the gold fall out of suspension. i think this video only shows the last part of the sequence. you can keep adding stuff to be dissolved until the mix becomes unable to support the contaminants. then you can pour off the liquid to contain and expose the drop & pg's. very dangerous.

Seeing the nitrogen dioxide gas(brown stuff) coming off that liquid leads me to believe this is dangerous and people may end up dead trying to reproduce its results without being educated...

I commend you greatly for your efforts. People cry out on how to.... then tell you how to do it. We all know that nitric eats metal... and the fumes are deadly. No matter how much money we make, cant buy our health back. What they dont know is when they send their gold off to be refined that they are getting ripped off big time. A smelter is fairly cheap compared to what they will steal from you. One ounce of 14k is much differ than one ounce of 24k, The diamonds are worthless, a dime a dozen.

What about doing this at home? I did a great program called SCRAP4TREASURE. I know where to find and how to recover gold and silver but I am concerned about trying my hand at refining.The program suggests that we send our recovered stuff to refiners. Makes sense to me.

Indoors-You should bubble the fumes in a column of chilled water, as venting the fumes thru a force fan hood will render in operable after just a few cycles of refining using aqua regia.

Sodium nitrate does not precipitate gold.That must have been sodium metabisulphite,which would explain the expulsion of nitrate vapors when you added it.When you add SMB it tries to precipitate the gold,as the gold drops,the AR redigests it and the nitrates are expelled as it is redigested.

how do we refine platinum ?I am working for jewellery company .we can refine gold by aquaregia but we find it difficult to refine polishing dust all metals are mixed in the dust ,pt ,pd ,au ,ag and alloy metals like copper,nikel,zinc
