  • @Aldort Is that possibly a....Montagnana?

  • @Aldort What cello do you play on???

  • What is with the thumbs down....this is amazing

  • Amazing! You play it so fresh!!With whom are you studying??

  • @alvanwel At the time of this concert Oliver was studying with Lynn Harrell. He was his student for three years. Oliver is now in Colburn School of Music with Ron Leonard.

  • It is a pleasure watching you play so well at such a young age. My son also plays the cello hope by the time he reaches that age he would play almost like you. Keep up the good work!

  • Does he still play the piano?

  • Yes. He plays piano and now he also conducts.

  • I wish you success in conducting. Stil, it would be interesting to listen to what is now in your piano repertoire. Have you much changed since you played Mozart's concerto in d? Have you, by the way, played one of Chopin's concertos?

  • @Kihene, He played Chopin #2 but did not perform it. He plays the g minor ballad, and has recently performed the last Beethoven sonata. He has not put on youtube because he says it isn't 100% perfect.

  • @Aldort : Why do you say he if it is you?

  • how many time do you practice a day?

  • About 2 hours.

  • You mean 32th sonata? Why did he take this latest one? It cannon be 100% perfect, because nobody knows how to play it. Why not take earlier, clasic sonatas?

  • thats so awesome that you dont go to school or watch tv, you must be just like the rest of us! Its so cool that you have perfect pitch and can analyze chord progressions. Its not like millions of studying musicians can do that. I cant wait to hear from you when your famous.

  • wtf was that for? he's doing what he does with a passion. why can't you accept that and move on with your life?

  • Great musical talent very gifted although of that age. Congratulations!

Nevertheless I have some hints which may be useful: During the arpeggio-passage after the 2nd theme, I recognised that he always lifts his fingers after each chord. It would be much easier leaving the fingers on the strings and sliding from chord to chord without lifting them up. Just a preposition nothing serious :)

It's amazing how small he looks behind the instrument but it definately suits his fingers and sound! great!

  • may i ask when did aldort start the cello and the piano?

  • When he was 6. At age 7 he gave his first full recital at the theater.

  • might i ask what kind of cello he's playing on?

  • A new Ravatin, loaned to him by the Carlsen foundation.

Hopefully he will get a better instrument soon.

  • I'm a cellist in the UK and I can't believe that silly composer didn't let Oliver through to play in the final piece! To be honest he doesn't know what he's talking about at all, good luck finding a better Cello, it can be such hard work to find the right sound.

Best of luck for future performances, maybe a UK tour soon please?

    Tom.

  • Can we see the rest of the performance please?

  • Oliver is performing in Ottawa and in Montreal for the rest of this month. When he returns home I will remind him to continue uploading the whole concerto.

  • Where is he playing in Montreal?

  • No tripod, Doh! XD

  • Yes tripod. I had to move the camera, with the tripod as soon as it started for technical reasons. It is stable before the solo starts.

  • If this is a professional orchestra then I wouldn't pay them anything!

  • You are so cool

  • I know this guy!!! He to Amnw So do I

  • DUDE. Did anybody notice that all the people playing in the actual orchestra were adults?! UR AMAZING!

Itzayani.

  • You probably get told this all the time but you are honestly the most amazing cellist ever for your age! you have everything it takes to be the greatest ever! all the best for your career!!!

    Jack

  • I adore the key of B minor.

    I adore the cello.

I so adore your playing and what you mean to the world of music. Bless you!

  • Great great! Hope you can score a camera and audio system to match the playing. All these years zoom by and not yet had a pro level video recording. Somebody, buy this family some great gear, perhaps two cameras and separate sound recorder like the Zoom H2. Even if you couldn't handle editing (and splicing in better audio) of it now, at least it would be in the can for future processing. Will be exciting to see where Olliver goes in his career.

  • Excellent.

  • Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!

  • you deserve better orchestra backing...

  • Well done. We enjoyed this.

  • can't believe you're 15yo now...yikes! TEMPUS FUGIT! when i first subscribed to your channel you were just 12 or 13yo!

sublime music as usual! you are a wonderful cellist, oliver!
