  • Plt 3001 graduated 27 MAR 1981 Loved it !

  • This is WHY I joined the USAF!!! lol

  • Home of the brave, and home of the tough, Semper Fi "Always faithful" and that's no bluff! They're mighty and true, they protect our freedom for me and you. Honor Courage and commitment is what they're taught to do. It's all about protecting the red, white and the blue! Marines will never retreat, break or bend, they're ready to fight, attack and defend. I respect our military, and proud to say,God Bless this country and our brave men and women everyday, I'M PROUD TO BE AMERICAN, I LOVE THE USA !

  • @P7byrd That's quite an ignorant and insolent remark to call Marines and Recruits of the 60s candyasses. The 60s were a legendary and synonymous age were DIs physically and verbally abused recruits. This archive video is no different from today's ads because DIs will not incriminaate themselves or project a negative image on film or video. I gradauted from MCRD, SD in '76, and my training was reminiscence of "Full Metal Jacket."

  • @TheHoomaikai DIs still physically and verbally abuse recruits man, come on you know it always happens

  • lol At the SSgt with only a good conduct and national defense ribbon.

  • @0:53 HOly shit it's The Fish lol.

  • Wow. Marines from the 1960s were a bunch of candyasses.

  • Platoon 1065, 1st Battalion A Company 9/20/83 Parris Island, Semper Fi my brothers

  • "You are platoon 3046, as far as i'm concerned you are going to....... who KNOWS what followed after that. lol good lord.

  • Just watched the Vid and read the comments. Came across someone using my service number. I was in platoon 2032 at Paris Island which started Aug 24 1967 and ended in Oct 67. Fucking imposter!!! The real 2396168

  • A stress card is a phony card that some recruiters say that you can wave to the DI, and he will go easy on you. They didn't go easy on you in the 60's and 70's, they aren't going to go easy on you because you wave some little piss ant card in there faces and tell them to be nice. To quote a famous USMC DI, "NICE? I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE FUCK NICE MEANS! DROP AND GIVE ME 25, MAGGOT!" Got to love the Corps.

  • The BC's are timeless. The faces change but not the Island! Oohrah!

  • Plt 3096 Kilo Co 2009-11-13

  • "Platoon 2098 Echo Company Sr Drill Instructor Staff Sgt Ramos! Oooooraaahh!!!!" (slaps beam at the top of the rope before sliding down)

  • The link in the description doesn't work.

  • @LudaChris06

Hi, it might have been a problem with your browser. Try again. I had no trouble with it.

  • Plt 2036, 9/6/66

  • Comment removed

  • no but.. but be ready to be humiliated and yelled at as for straight up ass whooping no its not gonna happen unless the recruit punch's the drill instructor or something lol

  • For the most part people that join the marines aren't weak and wont complain when they are messing up and getting a punishment they deserved. They treat you like a fuckin man oorah.

  • went through boot last year i personally got shoved and pushed alittle everyone does they tell you to report that shit "like thats gonna happen" but anyway one kid got a stapler shoved to his forehead that DI got his campaign cover taken for like 2 weeks if i remember and the cussing its real bad

  • When I went through MCRD back in 89 the DIs didn't use profanity, but they'd sure come up with creative ways to get around it. Fricken-this, and gaddang-that. They'd smack you around only if you copped a major attitude, but they'd only do it in private, never, ever out in the open on the grinder like you see in "Full Metal Jacket". They'd just take you into the whiskey locker or the head and you'd come out with a new attitude.

  • No they do not. They are not even allowed to swear anymore.

(ch)Airforce even has stress cards. If you think you are being treated badly, you hold one up and the go easy on you.

  • just like any other place man. No swearing is in the rule book but they still do it

  • Thats because they are the AIR FORCE! they also PT for 20 minutes. Marines take the DI's yelling like men and do what they're told.

  • Dont know where you get your info. We go to pt at least 3 times a week for 90 min at a time. I got yelled at in boot camp and I did what I was told. I guess since Im in the AF, Im a pansy though. Even though Ive been to Iraq 3 times in the 6 years Ive been in. Ive been shot at and all that shit. But what do I know. Im just a little AF Staff Sergeant.

  • @ebner20 Bullshit. USAF doesn't have stress cards. I have a friend who joined the USAF and says "It's the worst fucking mistake I've made, but I still love it." The stress card bullshit is a huge lie.

  • @jonvincent12 What are stress cards?

  • That will depend on your DI. They are not allowed to shout vulgarities or touch you, but some DI's may take things in to their own hands. I'm not a Marine, but that's what little info I can father, ever heard of the boot camp recruit abuse back in '07 at San Diego? That's a good example. Hope that helped somehwhat. Join the Marines anyway, they are an outstanding military orginazation. (::

  • platoon 1078 in july, 1984

we arrived the day of the "mcdonalds massacre"

  • summer of 1967 ,boy thats was fun Pt 360 42 years ago and yes it was tougher then today by far !!!!! when men were men!!!!

  • They had better not try shouting at me . I dont accept rudeness . I can be quite sarcastic.

  • u obviously know nothing about todays marine corp training still just as tough as it was back then except they train u smarter now and u get better martial arts training now.

  • The drill instructors in just but looking at this video seem a little nicer than the ones my brother told me about that they have today lol...or I could be wrong ?

  • man marine corps boot camp in the 60s was insane the DIs would beat your ass for any little mistake

  • Plt 2032, graduated 20 Oct 1967, Been there and done that.

  • @2396168 PLT 2034

  • @2396168 HEY! You were there w/me! We were Series 2027, 22Aug-02Nov67. We probably shared some Hats and fed the same sandfeas.

I'm sure you remember that piledriver sinking the foundation for the new brick bks over in 1stBn that summer? Trying to maintain a 120 count cadence with that thing banging in the background?

And I can still hear those 2ndBn steampipes along Panama street banging all night long. And I'll never complain about a bug bite or sunburn or sweat again as long as I live.

  • GOD DAMNIT PRIVATE.PYLE, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING.

That's what my friends name at boot camp, I myself didn't go to boot camp I did a little documentary for a summer program. My friend was in boot at the time, I tryed not to laugh, they made me to PT

  • Well at least your "friend" has some testicular fortitude, one day you may be a man as well.

  • the good ole days..

  • this was a great era for the marine corps.

  • let me guess....ur a obama supporter

  • that's none of your business. unlike you i have actually put on the uniform and fought for my rights and yours.

  • Oh so you`re a liberal meter maid?

  • He didn't meen that. It was a time where the training presented the real Marines. A time when Corps shined it's brightest.

  • yup. very few shit bags in the Corps.

and to gohmodley thank you for your service. i kno what you mean. i just recently decided to not bother with politics and try to do my job as a Marine. and just have faith in the government. whatever they decided for us to do ill carry out the orders and not worry about whether the right or wrong thing was done. that just really be on the heads of the govt not the troops. Semper Fidelis all you devils on here.

  • @slipknotatheart Despite the widespread drug use and lowered recruiting standards during Vietnam huh?

  • you ever CLEEEEEEANN yo' rifle, Gable? hahaha, i love it, i love it.

  • i run into my old di on okinawa

  • Cool. Did he recognize you?

  • no we talked about bootcamp. he was a total different guy. he laughed about some of it. he said the drill field was very tiresome.

  • been there.......done that!!!! plt. 2032, graduated Oct 1967, Guess where we were going.

  • Im surprised they had Black DI's back then.

  • THe military was pretty progressive towards integration compared to the civilian world lol.

  • Truman desegregated the military during Korea, public schools didnt till later 50's...

  • Didn't have the "crome domes" but remember well the M-14, 2nd Bn PLT 2035 PI Aug 1967,we were getting ready for the Nam in those days, don't think it wasn't hardcore, it was!!!

  • Anger through the decades

  • full metal jacket hehe

  • Is that you John Wayne? Is this me?

  • Somehow doesn't look as hardcore as todays Marine boot camp.

  • it was lol they were allowed to beat the shit out of you all they wanted back then but now adays they arent supposed to touch you...doesnt mean they dont though. i was in third battallion which was furthest from headquarters, so no one could really see what the DIs did. i had three bruised ribs cause a DI kicked me. one guy hat two teeth knocked out. they still hit you now adays, just not as much.

  • Oh yeah. I forgot to shave one night, and during hygiene inspection, The DI saw it, got pissed and made me grab my razor. He then began to dry shave my stupid ass. After the 2nd or 3rd swipe, he cut me, and made me flinch a bit. Now THAT was a bad move. Let's just say I got the shit slapped out of me. I too was in 3rd Battalion, in San Diego. It was the furthest away from headquarters. Although that probably dont make a difference when you are indoors.

  • IT (Incentive Training) is more effective then getting an ass kicking. I heard a UFC fighter recently talking about cardiovascular pain. He was saying that anyone can handle the pain from punches and kicks, it's the cardio pain that people can't handle and it's cardiovascular fitness that wins fights. I agree with his statements 100%. There were dozens of times when I was getting IT'd that I would gladly have taken a beating to end the torment.

You're basically kicking your own ass.

  • Yeah, they do. I got choked and knocked over a footlocker by my heavy.

    First Battalion here.

  • Yeah I heard they still hit you sometimes.

  • they do

  • When did you graduate?

  • 23 July 2008 platoon 2133 Fox Comp. MCRD SAN DIEGO...Squad leader and meritorious graduate too...and yes, when they get real pissed they Still tend to hit you even tho theyre not allowed too...not only that,,,they do some other crazy shit too..

  • My Uncle went through it around that time, I went through it a few years ago.

We PT'ed (officially, doesn't count all of the side PT and IT) 3 days during an average week, after breakfast. My Uncle woke up everyday and PT'ed first thing in the morning.

He was also a loud and tough one, so he got the shit beat out of him by a big DI everyday. Every week he would do the 10-mile hump around the Island for punishment, and since he had short legs he had to run the entire time.

  • I was in plt 376, graduated in Nov of 1964. The scenes of the M-14 bring back great memories. That was the best rifle ever made. And I sure remember the "crome domes." I knew what to expect at boot camp, and I got in great physical shape before I left for PI. So boot camp was actually enjoyable to me. Forty years after I graduated from PI, I looked up my senior DI and we talked for an hour. I thanked him for turning me into a Marine. He was thrilled to hear from one of his "maggots."

  • Full metal jacket the real deal

  • FMJ is just like this. Congratulations Mr. Kubrick

  • The M16s not the weapon that needs to be switched out, its the SAW. I loved mine but for that same weight Id rather carry an M60.

  • yeah an M14 is a better rifle, but Id rather hall the weak ass M16 on a 15k hike. quicker response time in combat with a light weapon than a heavy one. But MORE Power on that m14 is tempting. M1 is cool too same a 306.

  • Just because the M16 has a smaller caliber doesn't mean you still can't kill with it and/or do major damage. Ever heard the term "two to the chest and one to the head"?

Also... what's the matter? Don't feel like carrying your owqn weight on a 15k ruck march? How about those 20k marches where you carry 200 lb 50-cal M2 machine guns or the even heavier Mk-40 40-mm grenade machine guns?

  • The m14 isnt a better weapon numb nuts. The arch in the butt gives it an angle of recoil that is hell in a combat situation, while the m16 recoils back into the shoulder, keeping the sights more aligned. The m16 uses a 5.56 round rather than the heavier, less accurate, 7.62 round, learn some knowledge before you comment.

  • Numbnuts. Two can use that name! So. If the 7.62 is less accurate, then why is it still in the business as a machine gun round and a sniper rifle round? Don't know? Because it is still accurate going downrange at 1/2 a mile minimum. Have you fired anything that spits out 7.62 rounds?

  • dude im with hardcharging on this one 7.62 has way more stopping power at longer range than the 5.56 and it is everythingg but inaccurate it can accuratly shoot up to and passed 2000 yards try doing that with 5.56

  • I'd rather carry the M468 Barrett Assault Rifle. It's light, it's small, has more stopping power and accuracy than both the AK-47 and M-16, it has a silencer as a standard attachment thus reducing the noise in a combat environment, and it can work in sand water and any other condition possible.

  • The M14 was my alma mater, while you're bullshittin'...

  • i see not much has changed....lmao
