  • I suggest a hutch about 6' x 2' x2', with a run attached to it, 6' x 4' x 3'high with a lid. Hav a look at the accommodation section on the website (under the rabbit care section) as there are measurements and lots of photos to give you ideas.

  • How large should a hutch and a run be if you have 1 rabbit. Sadly i cant get a friend for little Dora, I'm not allowed but i spend most of my afternoon after school playing with her. Im building a hutch/run and i need good measurements

  • your video was excellent! and i defiantly agree that domestic rabbits shouldn't be released just because the owner doesn't want to take care of it anymore.I have rescued three rabbits that my neighbors let free. All of these neighbors had bought them for 10 years and younger children who got bored of them.It was really sad the one i kept has troubles eating now because it has parasites from the grass.

  • Where abouts is Cotton Tails Based?

  • @sarahlbeal We are in Westbury, Wiltshire, UK

  • we have just had to put our Beautiful Boy to sleep, he was a dutch and like the narrator says THEY ARE NOT PETS TO TAKE ONLY LIGHTLY.. i would never give my boys up to anyone but i did trawl through Cottontails site and stuck to EXACLTY what they said. the diet needs to be excalty right and you need the money in reserve to take what can be frequent trips to the vets...i spent £1.000 last year on Peter because he had a problem with his tummy due to lack of care from previous owners

  • Wow, its like the whole GB crew are here! lol XD

very good video, I do wish more people reailised how expensive buns are.

  • If only more people would watch something like this before getting a bunny. Very good informative video! I just adopted a female pair, from a family who bought them as a Christmas present for an 18 month old child. They currently have a 6ft double hutch in the shed, and soon they will have the full run of the shed once I get a door fitted next week. They have a 7ft run too. Before me adopting them, thay had spent their lives sharing a 4ft cage.

  • My bunnies have a 6x2x2ft hutch and they have a 7x5x2ft run. However, the run is not attached to the hutch. They get access to the run everyday though. Is this okay?

  • Hello, it is best if the rabbits have access to exercise 24 hours a day, but it must be safe so foxes etc. can't burrow in and the rabbits can't burrow out! Pet rabbits can be just as active during night hours as during the day, and in the winter this means that a rabbit could be shut up in a cage for more hours than it is allowed out - not the best environment. Having a run during the day is better than nothing, but better still is having it attached safely. Hope this helps!

  • Ok thank you. I now have an idea for accommodation for my two rabbits. I hope this sounds ok.

They will both be living in a 6 x 5ft shed and i will attach their 7 x 5ft run to the shed and they will have access to it via a cat-flap. Will that be better? However it won't be ready until the Summer.

  • @TinkerXMischief yes thats fine as long as the run is big enough for them to strech and play and as long as they get access to it everyday

  • i'm thinking about getting a rabbit for my 15th birthday i love animals it's my first bunnie what do you recomend i am not one of those insane people who think they can handle pets with little cages and such i own a piggie Ace Two cocker spaniels a russian tortise and i really would love a rabbit would they get along with my pig if i put them close i love my guinea pig so i would love another little furry friend

  • Hello, It is best to keep rabbits in neutered compatible pairs (male/female works best). They are not best companions for guinea pigs, so you would be best to matchup up your piggie with another piggie. If it is a male you are best to have him neutered, wait a month, and then match him with a female. If a female you can match with another female or a neutered male. Hope this helps.

  • finally someone who talks common sense when it comes to small animal housing ...well done and keep up your good work!

  • wow those rabiitss are beautiful!!

  • thats such a nice little area you have for them. i hae 10 rabbits, they are all in hutches, but not as fun looking! great job.

  • Great information; thank you for posting this. We have a "feeder" rescue bunny; he actually survived his snake encounter. We have had him about 3 and a half years. We brought him home when he was maybe 6 months or so and he is neutered. He has outlived two girls (one older, the second a rescue who didn't make it), and right now lives the solo life. While we aren't looking for another rabbit, if another rescue hopped into our lives, he would get another buddy.

  • Great video and I love the hutches:3

I recently built runs to attach to my rabbit hutches but they require a lot of work since it snows a lot where I live right now. Seeing the buns bounce around in there though makes it all worth it:D

My indoor rabbit has a large run he lives in all day:3 sometimes eh also has the free run of my bedroom but only when I can watch him.
