I love that part where you trill that high note and look at the camera like "Yeah, I'm going to f***ing play that note. What are you gonna do about it?" hahaha
Mr. Rudess, in a show her in Brazil (19/03/10) I was enjoying your show, give the end, you wave to me (believe me, it would be for me), and still watch my video, dammit, I fucking die happy *-*
Jordan, a well made jazz album from you would be awesome. +1 for a trio, it would be very nice indeed. Some really nice chords from 0:35 and on. It's still a bit on the classical/impressionistic side (Not that this is 'bad', on the contrary) rather than jazz. I'd like to hear more experimental modes and chords but as always your playing wins us over. Some people have expressed their wish for scores and I will add my own too, especially for your more classically oriented pieces like 'interstices'
You Mr Rudess should make a trio ( with drums and bass) and release a solo jazz album, I would definitely buy it. It would be great if you released a classic piano album too. Another good idea would be if you play fugues using synthesisers instead of organ
It would be kind of cool if you could make some side project (CD) with a more calm aproach than the other stuff you've done. Would deffinently buy that.
@JCRUDESS well seeing as it would probly become one of my favorite albums and would sit on repeat for a few weeks straight... id dedicate a hefty chunk of my next paycheck to it if needed
@unc13chuckl3s me too. probly buy extras just so i could distribute it to friends without the guild of robbing mr rudess of the sales he definitely deserves
@JCRUDESS Many people would pay hundreds of dollars!... And it's been 5 years since you don't release a solo album, we're just waiting, kind of patiently, hahahaha :)
@JCRUDESS Upto 2 WHOLE dollars, NO JOKE :P. I would love to hear more of the jazzy stuff in DT, the kind of stuff thats in LTE :). But yuo are an incredible keyboardist sir, best I've seen :).
@JCRUDESS Jordan, I know I cant even come close to what you do on that piano, but I'm auditioning to go to a music school in a few weeks, and I would be extremely grateful if you could maybe reveal to me one of your most beautiful chord progressions and a run so that I could complete my piece....thanks for reading this comment.
@JCRUDESS I'd pay $100+ for a single jazz-album of your making, and god help me, what would I pay for a ticket to one of your shows that doesn't conflict with my musical education.
Your music and inspiration alone has gotten me through so many hard times and kept me going when I was completely worn out. And in the end, it is only you who I trust to express real feelings through music.
Had I been able to, I'd lean only on your inspiration for the rest of my education, knowing I would get far.
@masterd000 I agree man. What makes JR so special is his realism and down to "earthness". He is truly an inspiration and I too would pay a bunch for a jazz album from him!
@dwagsizzle i was just thinking how i would like to have an album filled with this music - would be perfect for our contemplative-prayer gatherings, lol. come on, you can improvise 60 minutes like this no problem. sell it for 10 dollars as download mp3! : D
i listened to the new dt song and the previews and i say, its dream theater. jordan will be shreading the keys, it looks like myung will take a more active role, james is singing in his matured voices range (the stratosphere is nice but here on earth is good too), PJ will cause the deaths of hundreds and the new mike looks like he will hold his own. i love when jordan plays this kind of stuff in his style, it reminds me of the kind of virtuoso skill bach was loved for.
@GCshredder what a fucktard you are. as your name implies, "SHREDDER" as in "AMATEUR" who keeps running arpeggios and whatnots with no directions. JORDAN'S THE MAN, THERE ARE NO EXTRA NOTES OR WHATSOEVER, YOU TAKE OUT ONE NOTE ON WHAT HE JUST PLAYED, THE STRUCTURE WILL FALL APART. THAT'S HOW DEEP AND PRECISE HIS PLAYING IS.
@amjan Although this is amazing. most people would disagree, and the Generic DT song is because its their single. Do you not understand that concept? ITS THEIR SINGLE!!!!! AKA Radio friendly... Geez man..
Warm summer night and this is perfect as I drink an ice cold Rolling Rock and partake in an Acid Kuba Kuba cigar...Mr Rudess you're the Wizard...See you on 9/25 in LA...Can't wait!
Ahhhhh I love this! Jordan, you should seriously consider doing an album of jazz improvisations and standards. I've ( and I don't think I'm alone) always wanted to hear you play Chopin, or anything classical from any era, just to hear your take on it. One day, maybe. :]

There is not a single genre Jordan can't do. You could ask him to write anything from Lebanese folk to bubblegum pop to technical death metal, and he'd roll it out.
This is so beautiful Jordan. As all of your pieces I've heard. This is your style and it is awesome, this runs are particular from you. Keep Rock'n Jordan!
@MilestonePictures Anybody with as much knowledge as JR could play like this. in relation to my abilities on guitar he can switch between modes and scales like nobodies business. your basically watching the best in the world have some fun at home.
@GCshredder It's all about the feeling. I know a lot of people who say 'There's no soul or emotion in fast playing". Usually referencing John Pretrucci's work, but soul and emotion can be applied in numerous ways, in which the creator chooses. Jordan and John both enjoy very much what they do and the fast playing is an excellent representation of that enjoyment. Just wanting to clear that up.
@GCshredder Because for every fag like you that doesn't like it, there are hundreds, and thousands that do. ITs what he wants to play. Why must you bring negativity?
@GCshredder Dude, Just listened to your vid haha. Wow, your comment is even better now that i know you blow at your instrument. You are a no body...., and you will always be a nobody. You know why? Because no one wants to help a talentless asshole.... I'm just saying all the things Jordan is too classy to say.....
As much as I LOVE DT, I believe you and the rest of the band are FAR more talented and creative than what you show in DT. I hope you could feel freer when writing the songs.
Jordan, do you have any videos out talking about how you do those fast runs and arpeggios so well? My chops aren't bad, but whenever I attempt at that kind of stuff, they don't have near as good of clarity (or the right notes) as yours.
@itsabigbook i know the question was directed towards Jordan, but he does have a few exercises here on youtube that will help with technique and also you can go to his website and look up Keyboard Wizardry in his store and you will find his first instructional DVD. There are a lot of really usefull things in there. Also, you can sign up for the conservatory. if you don't know the link, it is jroc.us
