you really dont know the capabilities of a marshall til you crank it. almost all tube amps sounds weak at low volumes. i tried a mesa boogie in guitar center, great for rhythm but lead sucked ass at low volumes...
Personally i hate marshals, i play metal and hardcore and i hate the thin weak gain on them..I hate amps that i have to overdrive to get a decent amount of gain out of it..that's why i personally love the powerball, i never have to turn the gain bast 2 o'clock for rhythm or solos, and it has an excellent built in noise gate in the loop.
Dude have you heard of the JVM from Marshall? On OD2 on the red mode, it gets really intense! Or the TSL100 is really good for metal too. Both of those are probably have the highest amounts of gain from marshall. Also, maybe the Kerry King Signature has a lot of gain on it as well. You should check them out!
