I think people have to understand that Saida really dances more of a fusion, which honestly is very beautiful to watch. Her style may not be authentic in an Egyptian sort of way but I think she deserves recognition for her unique take on modern oriental dance (let's not forget oriental is a fusion of different dances, ballet, jazz, modern, even latin with egyptian baladi).

Every belly dancer in America, Egypt, Lebanon and Turkey - as well as Argentina and Japan - dance very different.

Would you say Turkish belly dancers - because they dance so different from Egyptian dancers - are not dancing Arabic dance? How about Souhair Zeki to Najwa Fouad - very different. Or Dina to Fifi Abdou. Didem to Burcin Orhon? Who's doing it right in your opinion? Just curious....

@ColoradoDancer both her parents are Syrian descendant. Theres all sorts of dancing styles. Belly dancing is a western term given, its actually called arab dancing. Ppl have their own styles that suits and compliments them better. There is no right or wrong as long as it looks good ;)

Me gusta la pasión de Saida, sin embargo siento que en ocasiones se excede en la fuerza que le imprime a los movimientos vs el ritmo de la música. Si quieren ver un baladi que considero es muy elegante y bien interpretado busquen el video titulado Bellydance Noura Farid y Omar Al Khabir en la Gala del maestro Gabi Shiba, especialmente me gusta la interpretación de esa bailarina. Si quieren aprender un poco del origen de este baile accedan al blok Solo cuando Bailo.

It's a pity that the dancers nowadays don't really have the feeling for baladi anymore... It's a nice dance, but it's not baladi. And without the deeper knowledge and effort to get that knowledge of diversity in oriental dance, this danceform is becoming unauthentic and losing it's roots. It's also very sad I think.

@latanyasdance That's true. I think we have to preserve the roots, but I think the dance has to develope and it depends on the place you learn it. This is not a baladi. It's Saida style. And she is really one of the greatest and most talented dancers in the world.

I think, when development means to get away from the roots development has failed it's sense. Development should always praise and respect the roots, because that is what it makes powerful in a deeper sense. That's what dance is about... for me. Otherwise it becomes shallow. This dance should never become a superficial thing.

me parece que saida lo hace muy bien siente la musica, el vesturio es super,tiene un estili de danzar muy peculiar muy americano. las coreografias de Saida son muy buenas no son faciles de copiar ya que tiene unos movimientos muy estilizados com de bailarina de balet, e visto otras de sus coreografias y tienes que tener un buen nivel de danza arabe para poderlas interpretar, saida y mario kirlis genials
