  • I always loved animals as a kid, so naturally, I enjoyed this one.

If not for the mane and hooves, the horse would look more like a camel.

  • "How come I always get these nursery rime things, a guy could get killed this way" I can't stop laughing!!

  • No one asked ya to climb up that clock!

  • I know im a horse, the mouse couldnt make it!

  • Was that the first ever Muppet duck?

  • This is really funny. I love it. Kermit calls this like a sporting event.

  • WOW kermit the frog, my favorite character from sesame street.

  • Are you sure you wouldn't like a Hickory Dickory Duck?

  • I love you, Jim

  • I LOVED these news breaks!!!

  • I remember seeing the scene and blooper of the horse running through the clock when it was supposed to be the mouse running up the clock, which was seen on "The Best of Kermit".

  • I like how the room shakes when the clock breaks. They shook the camera for that, right? Good effect.

  • I loved this one when I was growing up, but I've got a better idea for it: a mouse runs up the clock and threatens to jump at one o'clock if certain demands aren't met.

  • There's that cow again! They must have had to pay her a bundle. Kermit's reaction to the duck's joke is priceless. The horse demolishing the clock and the "killing time" joke are beyond hilarious. Kermit's complaint at the end is another gem. Thanks, sawing14s.

  • THE HORSE IS A REAL TIME KILLER LOL

  • Yeah. You might say that he decided to "CLOCK OUT". LOL

  • "And the clock struck seventeen...." LOL!!!!

  • Pure mayhem!! Million thanx, Mr Henson!!!!!

  • GUNG! HOOOOOOOOO!

  • Tooooooooooooo good!

  • i think kermit quit after this.

  • This was my favorite Muppet News Flash, it's just so hilariously bizarre.

  • "I've heard of killing time but this is ridiculous!" LMAO

  • I love how Kermit says to the duck, "What you can do is get out of here!" lol

  • How come I always get these nursery rhyme things?? A guy could get killed this way. I'm getting outta here... LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL!!!!!!!

  • He's right. A guy could get killed like that.

  • He probably should have let it be a hickory dickory duck, it probably would have worked out better.

  • "...you remember that thing?"

  • I think this may be the only time they said "kill" twice on this program.

  • Poor Kermit, he needs a transfer from reporter to anchor. I wouldn't report nursery rhymes either if they keep going wrong.

  • (02:14) Anyone notice the Charlie Brown reference?

  • He said "good grief".

  • who said good grief?

  • Yes. Cool!

  • hickory dickory dock

  • "i've heard of killing time, but this is ridiculous!" LOLOLOLOL!

  • hickory dickory dock

the horse ran into the clock!

the clock 100 the horse was acquitted for

    killing time!

    hickory dickory dock!

  • He asked what the time was at the start of the skit even with the clock there. Funny.

  • "I've heard of 'killing time' but this is ridiculous!" That's what was said at 2:21.

  • Thanks so much for posting this one, I had been looking for it. :) When I was a kid I used to love it when the horse broke the clock. LOL!

  • Notice that the pendulum appears to have stopped swinging as the horse charges to the clock.

  • you're right!

  • ive heard of killing time but this is redicilous !!!! lmao

  • I just wonder if Kermit did "The Muppet Show" with Kenny Rogers that night? If he did, he got it a lot worse than he did in that news segment.

  • Poor Kermit! he stated it well. "How come I always get these Nursery Rhyme things?! A guy could get killed this way! I'm getting outta here!"

  • Crude duck puppet, but mayhap more realistic than what would follow? i.e. he doesn't have that silly afro-style plumage on his head.

  • HA HA HA! The mouse couldn't make it! LOL

  • hahah Kermit's face at 1:43

  • Maybe the clock being destroyed here inspired the ending to "V For Vendetta?"

  • Thw mouse couldn't make it

  • "Hang in there, timepiece fans..."

  • diluski, i think it's three parts. The back leans to the left (?).

  • I love the running gag in all these news bits where Gladdys the Cow shows up and tries to act like other animals, such as in the Humpty Dumpty thing where she tries to be a horse when Kermit brings up "all the king's horses."

  • Is the horse Forgetful Jones's faithful steed Buster? It sure looks like him!

  • It has to be Buster! *lol*

  • I can't imagine how hard it must've been for Jim and crew to reassemble it. Hopefully, it wasn't an antique.

  • This newsflash rules! It is finally a chance to see the clock fall to bits in slow-mo (we didn't have a VCR yet at the time that this got lots of exposure in the early 80's. I often always wondered why the two parts stayed exposed and didn't fall also...attached and balanced to stay up I guess!

  • Pretty sure I've gotten my (lack of) patience and snippy attitude from Kermit, lol

  • I think I got mine from my father and my grandpa, but probably Kermit, too, since I act like him once in a while.

  • Thank you SOOOO much for posting this!! It's my all time favorite SS News skit and I seriously haven't seen it since I was a kid. Man, I'm so happy I'm tearing up:)

  • HOW COME I ALWAYS GET THESE NURSERY RYHME THINGS? A GUY COULD GET KILLED THIS WAY! (lol!)

  • I don't think killed. Maybe just badly hurt.

  • Seems like the horse has too much time on his hoofs.

  • Yes! This is an ALL TIME CLASSIC!

  • I noticed the clock doesn't have a top when it breaks away! BTW , jaydude, it's three pieces, with the back twisted to the side (?). Nice of how fake the stuff is when seeing this stuff being older.

  • well with the horse running through it he forces the back to move forward and make the two sides split. freeze the video a 2:12 and you will see how it breaks.

  • your right in the second viewing of it, its three pieces but as you said wrapped around it.

  • It would've been more realistic if they had gears and springs flying from the clock when it broke.

  • why do some people think that clock was real? It was another breakaway prop.

  • If it were a real clock, the hands and numbers would be falling off and there'd be gears and springs flying everywhere, like on "Inspector Gadget"

  • i haven't seen this one since i was a kid!

  • No, it wasn't real. Probably the parts were pulled down by ropes. I like the screen shaking. Although shouldn't the horse be hurt by broken wood or glass?

  • Nah. He's tough. He could handle it.

  • YEAHHH!!! AT LAST!! Thanks!!

  • in reference to the breaking of the clock one side the right side fell out the middle part fell forward causing the back and left sides to be exposed. Also the face fell off with the pendulum and weights and the bottom of the middle fell in sync with the face.

  • If you look carefully at 2:06 you can see the puppeteers hand holding up the horse's leg.

  • vaguely can see the hand but did it take to puppeteers to control the horse.

  • it seems like the horse was taking care of what fell on the floor but he should of jumped on the two things sticking out to complete the damage, stupid horse.

  • GUNG HOOOOOOO!

  • If I were Gladys, when Kermit said "Your a cow," I would've said, "Give the frog a cigar!"

  • its sesame street however today they probably would not show this because of sending the wrong message to kids thats its ok to run and destroy a clock.

  • This was funny i love it when Kermit gets aggravated plus i have this clip in one of my radio cassette tapes cause i didn't use a vcr at the time so i recorded the sounds of the episodes which was fun.

    Thanks for posting it.

  • "Clock lovers" lol.

  • How cute was that! "I've heard of killing time but, this is ridiculous!" "How come I always get these nursery rhyms!" "A guy could get killed doing this!" "I'm getting out of here!" Great stuff! Thank you! :)

  • Kermit is my all-time favorite news reporter ever! LOL! Doesn't the Duck sound a little bit like Kermit's Nephew Robin?

  • yes he does!

  • Hickory Dickory Dock

The horse ran through the clock

    The clock struck none,

    The clock ran down,

    Hickory dickory dock!

  • Kermit seemed perky at the beginning, but then he was angry at the end, and personally, I don't blame him.

  • The mouse and his friends should have seen it.

  • Actually, the duck said, "I've heard of killing time, but this is ridiculous!" I really loved this skit when I was little, and I still do. By the way, I know Jim Henson is the voice of Kermit, and Richard Hunt is the voice of the cow, but is Jerry Nelson the voice of the duck, and is Frank Oz the voice of the horse?

  • You are correct. It definitely sounds like Jerry Nelson as the duck, and it seems that Frank Oz almost always has to play the lead character in each nursery rhyme or fairy tale Kermit does a report on.

  • I loved how the horse raised his front leg before he charged.

  • I've heard of telling time but this is ridiculous. The duck said that and I hope that clock wasn't real.

  • Probably not, but other skits I know have used real clocks, for instance they used a real chiming clock in the one with the two Martians discovering a clock, and the "Mystery of the Four Dragons" had a tower with a real clock on it (it was actually an electric schoolroom-like clock manufactured by SimplexGrinnell)

  • And in the movie "Don't Eat the Pictures", they have clips with real clocks in that too.

  • by any chance do you have the jack candelstick one?

  • Here's another way I think it should have ended. The horse could've just jumped over the clock, and Kermit would've said in amazement "How did he do that?"

  • I think Kermit should've worn a watch since the clock got destroyed to smithereen by the horse.

  • I just hope that clock didn't belong to any of his friends!

  • The part with the clock being destroyed reminds me of the old "Inspector Gadget" episode "The Coo-Coo Clock Caper" from 1984.

  • I especially liked the part when the horse ran through the clock!

  • "Hickory dickory Dock,

The horse ran through the clock,

    The clock struck seventeen,

    But it's now a has-been,

    Hickory Dickory Dock!"

It's very funny! And yes, I like it when Gladys appears! *laughs*

    ~Ra'akone

  • I wonder if that was Kermit's personal clock?

  • Kermit was rude to Gladys when she appeared! She just wanted to know what time it was.

  • True, but remember, he was trying to do a television program.

  • He could have politely explained that, though, and maybe asked what she wanted, instead of snapping, "No one asked you to climb up that clock."

  • You have a point.

  • He can be kind of snooty sometimes.

  • Yeah, he can. This was never my favorite News Flash Sketch, what with the snootiness, and the clock getting wrecked.

  • "How come I always get these nursery rhyme things!?" Too funny!

  • That horse has done a bad thing.

  • 1) A cow? They really milked this sketch.

    2) What time is it? Time to get a new clock!

  • You sure have alot of Sesame Street News clips.

  • How come the horse runs up to the grandfather clock when it is 1 O'Clock??? You're supposed to see the mouse run up the clock, according to the Hickory Dickory Dock nursery rhyme.

  • ah, but sadly, the mouse couldn't make it at that time.

  • I wonder why the mouse couldn't make it. Did he have something terminal?

  • He had an appointment with the other two blind mice

  • ya it was a blind mice date lol

  • Has there ever been a Muppet mouse in Sesame Street?

  • To make this sketch funny

  • It's about time this was uploaded...*snicker* Five stars!

  • Also, does anyone know who Kermit is yelling at at the end?

  • I think he is yelling at the people running the news cameras.
