The 2006-2009 accent doesn't suck it amazing car for the price if they where that bad how come there are so many of them on the road if you have the money go waste it on a civic or corolla but i saved $9000 and bought an accent i got a free 5 year warranty from the dealer and $1000 off nothing beats a deal like this

It's a frame counter.

Euro NCAP is for older model of hyundai accent.

Frontal impact - it seems not so serious, good chance to survive without severe injury.

Side impact - not good :-(, may be better with side airbags.

Hyundai accent has ALWAYS had a dreadful reputation for occupant safety...look at the NCAP ratings for the previous Hyundai Accent -1 star!! Hyundai and Kia safety record in the past 15 years is amongst the worst of any car manufacturer.

I have studied car accidents and ocular trauma/head trauma at a university level. I have seen patients with extensive injuries in car accidents.

Can i ask what background or research you have in this area? Or perhaps you are a hyundai/kia sales person?!

May I ask about the safety rating of Honda Civic? I've got a 2008 model. Many people said it is safe.

It does give me an insight into car injuries and no doubt gives a more informed and professional opinion than yourself.

Saying that you don't need to be a doctor to see there are going to be some serious injuries resulting from an accident in this car and indeed most hyundai and kia's for that matter.

Excuse me, i am an Optometrist and working in a hospital i am familiar with patient injuries in car accidents.

Frontal impact = broken neck/rib fractures - lung puncture - possible death depending on swiftness of emergency services.

Side impact = major internal injuries, ruptured spleen/spinal column severed = death.

You do not purhcase these hyundai/kia cars for safety..they are basic A to B transportation, the price is reflected in the lack of research and development.

I personally know a man who crashed an accent just like this one in the video and he walked away with just a few scratches. Car is totalled but he is fine! No spine or neck injuries and he was going at 50 mph when he ran into a ford. A miracle!!!

My three door has Front dual-stage, A-pillar and B-pillar Airbags. It also may have them in the seats, not sure, but I think so.

Eh, there was no crumpling past the firewall which is what is supposed to happen. You'd be out of hospital in a day or so with some hefty bruises, maybe a rib or two broken from "force".

I dont know if it is cheap car but Hyundai is one of the most economic car. New i30 has 1,6 122hp CVVT engine and it goes 100 km with 5.2 liters.

Because all depends on the market....in US it is standard to have all the airbags....otherwise, the car cannot be sold in US, in other countries that is not standard, 2 frontal airbags are good, in othe countries, sometimes, the cars can be sold with no airbags like in Latin America. I am from Panama, and we have almost all cars, with and without airbags, it depends on us if we can pay the price for having airbags. At least Hyundai offers them with airbag here in Panama.
