@angelateeng I couldn't have put it any better than you have! You are so correct! And I feel that Hollywood and whomever(?) has dropped the ball on producing good tv shows. Too much reality crapola for me, for the last many, several years. I'm thankful that the kids have good old re-runs to watch from "back in the day"!
@SpiritualParadise So cool--you are in/from the Netherlands? And you get this show, Little House on the Prairie, there? Honest, I did not know who sees it and where! That is really neat! My cousin worked in the Netherlands for a few years. He said it is a beautiful land with some pretty nice people. Take care! And nice to hear from you!
Nellie was like that little girl in "The Bad Seed", I think it was. Awesome, heart-warming show---sorry they don't make 'em like that anymore!!!!! I sooo miss Michael Landon!!
Here on The Netherlands they keep repeating this serie so i can watch it every day at 4 pm. I love the innocence and beauty of the simple but sometimes harse life style in those days. Also it has a great story in it. My favorite, absolutely!
I grew up watching this, Anne of Green Gables, The Brady Bunch, etc. I love them all. Why is it that there are no such shows like those nowadays? These are about living good lives, unlike the present shows that we have now. No wonder teenagers are having popularity problems in school. MTV shows them how to dress and act
I've seen every single episode. I'm 16 and I think this is the best tv show ever made. I'm not religious, but really, this is what you could call my bible.
I'm 17 and I'd rather watch this over Jersey Shore and Glee. I love old tv shows and old movies. I've seen every single episode of this show. I love it so much. :)
Hmm, My daughter had one of my mothers little house on the prairie dvd boxes a couple of days ago. And when i checked the back of it, i saw that in Sweden and Norway its recommended from 7 years, In Denmark its suitable for all, and here in Finland its labeled 18 years.....o_0. I really cant see why, ive watched this since i was like 4.
I read somewhere that when Lindsay Sidney Greenbush fell down that was a complete accident but they kept that in because she was so little and cute! :D
someone said watching this makes them proud to live in Minnesota. Well, watching this (and knowing they lived in South Dakota even longer) makes me proud to live in South Dakota (sometimes). After Christmas winter get old FAST, though. But for the most part I like living in South Dakota. :)
I remember watching little house on the prairie when it use to come on Fox when it was little. I enjoying watching this and Mash when it comes on. Truly Classic T.V.
@babylover0990 I grown up watching and loving little house on the Prairie to. But no offence. You may not want to be born in that time period. Their was a lot lawlessness and infectious diseases also prejudice's during that time. But then again if your talking you want to have the same strong values of having a close family and friendship's. You don't to have to born in anytime period to have the same values. ^^
@Se7enBeatleofDoom I didn't grow up watching little house on the prairie, I grew up reading the books. And no, it isn't the values that I want, I already have them. It is just their way of life and how simple things were back then. Of course nobody would want all the diseases and such that they had then, but I also don't want the diseases that there is now, in fact I would rather have the ones they had back then than the ones that we have today.
@sjogge123 yeah, I know. Someday I want to have a cow for milk and butter (did you know making butter is really easy? all you have to do is get whipping cream, pour it in a jar (add salt if you want salted butter), put the lid on nice and tight and shake it until its butter! then spread it on your bread or put it in your cookie dough, or eat it with a spoon!) I bet hardly anyone knows that any more. :)
my mom and dad never missed this when i was little. of course we had to watch it too. but, i'll have to say, it's probably one of the best family shows ever produced. there were some great t.v. shows on in the 70s. sometimes i really miss being a little kid.
great comment. I actually feel sorry for kids today as most of the stuff is re-hashed or a rip off or a remake of something earlier. They had no CGI back then but it just goes to show they didnt need it, or autotune to make a singer sound like they could sing. its great to hear a 13 year old interested in the stuff from the 70's and 80's and appreciating it for the contribution it made to today's culture.
@rodley25 I grew up in the eighties and TV and children's TV was generally better and greater...you are not seeign it through rose tinted specs, it was a real greta time when both domestic progs and the US imports were high quality....
I read these comments saying they watched these tv shows when they were like first aired, and I'm jealous!! I am going to be 13 this year, I only watch old shows and listen to old music. I love little house, and all the other old shows. I've seen almost every episode and I wish I could've been alive to see them get aired for the fist time and waiting for the next one.
Another one for the They Sure Don't Make 'Em Like They Used To file. A mythic, epic opening to a timeless, classy program that, even though my family roots are in Greece and my own hometown is in Ohio instead of Minnesota, makes me proud to be from America's Heartland, because the Ingalls family really personify the region's honest, hardworking, and good-hearted spirit imo.
When I hear the theme of this, my sister's and mine favorite show, it takes me back to Milwaukee and she and me sitting on our stomaches on the living room and watching the fun, tender, sometimes sad adventures of the Ingalls family and their neighbors. This show taught good values of decency, sharing, having a sense of humor. So when I get on the phone with sis, I hum the tune and she breaks out laughter and hums right along with me! Takes us back to 1975.
I love this show soooo much!! I wish they made shows like this today, I've never really experienced those old tv shows because I was born In the 90s. I still watch a few though, but it's probably not the same.

One of the best series I have seen. Happened to see it on TV on the other day and I must say I love it. Pity that yanks can only produce pure shit these days and whole western world is following them. There are some small exceptions once in a while, but still..
@BABYT0MB0Y Great! I'm a Japanese student lives in Oregon right now. I watched that series in Japanese wtih my family every Sunday. :) Nice to hear that. Thanks for saying that to me, babytomboy!
@lsl70 R.I.P. Michael Landon, partially responsible for LHOTP's writing and producing he brought pure dedication and love to his work each day to share a message of Love and understanding for one another, especially as a family. In "Highway to Heaven" he played an Angel sent to assist humanity through compassion. I met him once when I was 8 in a mini-mart in Reno, NV. Though brief, he seemed a very warm person. 1936-1991(Cancer)
I'm sure he laughed at your silly dog comment though. God Bless.
Melissa Gilbert was quite a goofy looking child.....but, how she blossomed!!!!! As it carried on through the years I thaugh she was gorgeous.....and today.....Yikes!!!!! I have 4 letters for Melissa. MILF!!!!!!
This was a great show, it dealt with real life issues that are still relevant to this day.
I also liked the fact that it wasn't afraid to deal with the topic of GOD, which many shows today are terrified to deal with given this crazy climate we are currently living in.
Just the theme song itself brings back so many memories. R.I.P to all the wonderful people like Michael Landon for creating Little House. It included life lessons to everyone. This show wasn't just for peoples entertainment, it was a way for people to understand the hardships, people in the 1800s were going through and that family is everything. You couldn't go along in life with out the loving help of your family.
@Popstar2b19 This show shows me the sampler life like it teaches about family helping out one another but there has been times I have heard like from other pepole how there family dose not even help them out even through hardships
I even have a good church Family that helps me out and they teach that to every one no matter we are family as well.
from many a Hollywood drama series, this is the most I liked, I admire the wilder family who is simple and very grateful for their situation, This picture of the American family, which remains very faithful to the teachings of religion..I never missed any episode of this drama on a Sunday afternoon.. :)

A lot of the episodes were so dramatic that you couldn't help but cry like a baby.

R.I.P. that dog running down the hill. Yeah sorry folks I'm pretty sure he's dead. I mean who ever heard of a dog living over 30 years.

God Bless.
