The Battalion's Backup can also be used to get your entire team through areas like Badlands Field or Gran last with 0 headshot risk, or to bomb a lone Sniper on a map like Viaduct with 0 repercussion. Also, Medics can't get 2shot by RL, Scatter, or Pipes while under the effects of the backup.

Also, sorry for a doublepost, but on maps like Egypt and Well, it can be charged just by sitting in the water or on top of torches, which is especially handy for pushing out of spawn on the first cap on Egypt.

One small thing I'd like to point out about the Battalion's Backup, it's great for Payload maps. Sitting on the cart while taking in a constant amount of damage and being healed. On the final cap of Thundermountain, I sat on the cart for the entire round, charged the banner 3 times, got the boostie boys achievement, and our team steamrolled the defense. The cart never stopped moving, because our team was constantly protected. It was similar to our whole team being overhealed while pushing.

@TF2PlayerLT There's really nothing to do except keep doing it until you can. If you can hit someone once in the air, you can hit them any number of subsequent times. Although I would recommend using tr_walkway to practice instead of tr_rocketshooting nowadays.

On a random note, when you hold down M1 when releasing your Black Box banner, you can withhold the charge until you release M1 indefinitely. When you do release the charge, it will activate instantaneously. Try it out sometime.

Yeah that happens to me too. I find that you have to quickly decide which enemy is the greatest threat, and kill him first. Usually these are scouts, heavies, and other soldiers, but generally it can be any class. After you've killed the most dangerous opponent, proceed to pick off the remaining ones in order of threat level. It also helps to kill any medics in the area first, as well as trying to gain superior positioning.

@amdigo When handicapped, the most you can logically hope for is to take someone out with you, so go for a priority target like the medic. If you have a chance after that, I would say demo, then scouts, then soldiers, but the list can be rearranged very easily depending who you're up against.

@msvideogame If by "slow down effect" you mean the push back, no. The push back is a consequence of getting hit - not taking damage - which is why you are still pushed back even if you approach a gun while ubered.

A superb finish to a great series. While it didn't make me start playing soldier, it was definitely what transformed me from a pub-hopping-shoot-at-your-feet­-soldier into an airshotting monster that inspires the ire of many players. Granted, I'm not as good as I used to be, but the many tips (joining ammomod, TR Airshot) and nuances of playing soldier simply wouldn't have been learned if I hadn't watched these. @MaxOfS2D The Pyro has an airblast which completely inutilizes the Soldier's main asset (the Rocket Launcher) if used correctly, plus their most effective range is close range, which is where the Soldier can hit himself. Plus while playing Soldier, you tend to have problems with awareness of what's going on around you, and the Pyro is meant to flank.

@Rellow2 Pyro's actually one of my main classes. I just used a Pyro in the first video because at the time it seemed like the "counter" to Soldier, and for every video since then I've continued doing so but with more Pyros in each one.

@PandaPooPs Oh right, the airblast. Which I can't use correctly against projectiles just like 70% of pyros. Not really much of a counter actually unless you're in close range with one which most classes won't survive anyways.

@Rellow2 As if reflecting projectiles is difficult. I have about 20 hours in pyro and I'm infamous on my server for being "crazy good" at airblasting projectiles.

It's all about "feeling". Predicting when the soldier will fire the rocket. Take into account firing speeds and reload times. Consider your airblast's range. When I'm relatively far away, I can visually time my airblasts easily.

If a soldier doesn't have the shotgun equipped, he's my bitch. And I'm not even good at pyro.

@ObeIiskos Personally, I listen to know when to reflect instead of looking for it. If I look for the enemy firing, I might get tripped up by something like him twitching his gun suddenly, but pretty much no one spams voice commands to try and trick an approaching Pyro.

Okay, after watching this video there is only one thing that bugs me.

Rocket Jumper.

While it was okay before the nerf now it's piece of shit to practice. Then it was a perfect thing combined with shotgun and Pain Train. You was like a scout who could get in places faster, you had 200 HP (and greater bullet vulnerability) and cap points faster.

But still I'm not a comp player so you'll probably think I'm a moron who doesn't know how to play. :/
