  • a beautiful woman

  • Esther Williams is just beautiful. Sure beats Lady Gaga.

  • She's one of the prettiest actresses ever!!!

  • Gorgeous full-figured tanned beauty, she drove men nuts. Was a prisoner of Fernando Llamas for twelve years, one of her 4 husbands. She'll be 90 this year.

  • oh i love esther williams i remember watching her when i was 12 on TCM love the theatrical moods of her movies especially when she's swimming its amazing.. lol i watch cartoons in the morning then classic movies at night hehe.. and im asian.. no internet yet then.. but thank god i have my own tv and hooked up on cable. i love hollywood classic movies and movie stars.. all the glamour and all.. love it :) i wish i was born in that era.

  • gorgeous girl and seems like a lot of fun, flirty and doesn't take herself too seriously...

  • Thanks for posting this and for including the air date, I always like to know that.

  • I never heard of her before, but she's so pretty and entertaining. Now I'm googling her because I had fun watching this :)

  • She's a beauty. An all American beauty. My dearest friend reminds me of her -- great Athlete, gorgous face and body, brilliant mind, melodious voice and great singer for fun. She is a teacher, wasting her fine mind and talents on ungrateful students (inner-city)like the person who commented in a prejudicial way about "White Women" today.

  • family feud existed back them too? wow. but what's my line was/is still better =)

  • This clip is absolutely hilarious!! There is no way that today's beauty queens such as Kim Kardashian could be this funny. Plus in addition Esther's beauty is all natural. That is more than I can say for Kim. Enough said!!

  • Oh my god. This is absolutely adorable!!

  • Aw, Esther was such a beautiful and talented lady! I still cannot figure out why her dramatic and/or 'on land' films were never very successful. ;)

This is great! One of the best 'What's My Line' celebrity guest bits I've seen. Thanks for sharing :D

  • ive watched all her appearances on this show and she's always amazing

  • I woiuld have loved too hang with Esther back in the day! She seems like much fun!

  • women from the 40's 50's 60's were ladies, they had self respect, good manners, they dressed well, their make up and hairdos were compliments rather than looking like tramps. I blame the decline on the 60's, women's lib and all those wonderful ideas which spoiled everything to this day. Men also were gentlemen, they knew how to speak, dance, they took care of their appearance...

  • @imreallyclever it's true that people were well groomed in the 50s - at least those on TV - but society at time was also extremely rigid and conformist, with some very dark elements. Blacks in the south were still living under segregation (apartheid), other non-white like hispanics & asians were discriminated against, homosexuality was a psychological disorder & women belonged in the home not the workplace.Maybe a golden age if you were a middle/upper class white male but mediocre otherwise..

  • @dynaco Mediocre! Really! Lets see! Now adays parents no longer have to worry about the education there children recieve. They just hope they DON'T come home in a pine box. Go to any middle school or high school and you would think your hanging around some drunk sailors in a bar expressing there vocabularium knowledge. And these are our future leaders? And I won't even mention the music industry. If that is your idea of progress then give the 50's again.

  • @brgilbert2 I agree and if you have seen the article on CNN, the show Glee is trying to indoctrinate teens that teen homosexuality is alright. I know many good God Fearing people who would rather educate their kids at home than send them to school to be exposed to sex, violence and filth and also to the gang violence caused by minorties like the blacks and latinos from the ghettos. I too will side with you in bringing back the 50s. There was class and morals. Only idiots make the 50s look bad.

  • @brgilbert2 As for the music industry, I think it should be shut down. Every song has not less than 10 bad words and words that glorify sex and violence. I worry about the future of this once great country. All this happened when the country let hippies take over and we let the minorities entertain us with their awful music and we have to also blame ourselves because we have taught people to tolerate bad behavior. When God was removed from public shcools, that was the beginning of the end.

  • @dynaco yes, and blacks today are rioting, looting and beating innocent people in the streets and chanting 'death to white people'. As for apartheid, it is alive and well in Moslem countries that are killing Christians, burning churches and barring Jews from entering or residing there. Qualified mIddle class white males need not apply to a lot of jobs today because of the insane affirmative action laws and women are overworked and having their children raised by nannies and babysitters. ENJOY!

  • @TheBlueyedblond I agree with you. Nowadays it is a sin to be a straight white male. If you are a Christian, you are also a target for ridicule. It has become so bad, that one can say anything about whites and christians but cannot say one thing about other races and religions. Shame on people who claim to be liberal but allow hatred towards whites and Christians to take place.

  • They're all having so much fun - so beautiful. Esther must be one of the most beautiful and entertaining guests on here. :)

    David.

  • I love how she has John check her roots -- too, too funny!!!!!

  • I love her lol she's great. Thanks for posting

  • she's so gorgeous....i wish i was that pretty

  • She is beautiful and very funny and talented. Love the ladies in the 50s. They are so attractive compare to them now.

  • Bennett has ears like radar! Esther was and is SOOOOOOOOO beautiful!

  • "COOOOOONFERENCE PLEASE!!!"

hahahah i laughed so hard! lovely WML, she's is quite a beauty!

  • "~~~I try~~~" "Pretty hard, too." LOLOL

I think Daly thoroughly enjoyed her! :)

This is a really cool one.

  • Beautiful and talented swimmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmer!

  • wow, what a doll. most of her movies were rather silly, but she's got the goods, no doubt....and still alive to boot!! nice.

  • Never realized how tall she is! What a package!

  • She is so hot here. I pity people who don't who Esther is today.

  • CONFERENCE PLEEEAAASSE! hahaha

  • Love her!

  • "Let's find out what color you are? Are you blonde?"

  • She's hilarious.

  • Esther was a friggin' hoot!

Fuckin' Hitler, she coulda been an Olympic champion too!

  • According to her autobiography, Esther says she was paid $500 for her "mystery guest appearance" on the program (the standard fee), which the celebrities usually donated to their "favorite charity". However, Esther's agent insisted on his "10%" for her appearance. Furious, she insisted he donate his $50 to HIS "favorite charity"- which, apparently, he never did.

  • what movie?

  • ... wonder who Dorothy, and then the others, thought she was ...

  • no kidding she really was quite beautiful....

  • She was SO GORGEOUS. One of the great beauties. Also very down to earth and I love how she's so into the game. :D Sigh--back before Twiggy when women were allowed to have curves...

  • I love her! TOO funny!

She was even sporting a Popped Collar! Trendsetter!

  • That was great...one of the funniest I've seen!

  • What is it about white women in the 50's and 60's that makes them so much more attractive than today?

  • CLASS!!!

  • They weren't all anorexics who bounced in and out of rehab every other week ...

  • And they were able to keep their clothes on and still showcase their beauty!

  • Well, the absence of tatoos and body piercings for a start.

  • amen torch kit

  • Well... The way they moved, dressed, talked and acted. They were beautiful, smart and funny. They knew that you can keep your clothes on and still be very sexy, and when they didn't wear clothes they were still sophisticated. They were classy, not trashy, and the fashion of that era really did something with women that's just not happening these days.

  • @zgreggz82 They ate enough that you could fantasize touching them without feeling guilty about breaking them. Also, they didn't routinely vomit in public, weep over their awful childhoods, or discuss their yeast infections during TV interviews.

  • @zgreggz82 It has to be the hair.

  • @zgreggz82 The chief reason is they were feminine. On the whole, women took better care of their appearances then, with great emphasis being placed on beauty that is a result of good health. IMO. I've often wondered that, too...

  • @zgreggz82 . The diversity of being blond, brunette, redhead or having the option of green eyes, blue eyes, hazel eyes, brown eyes is far more appealing and attractive than any other race, regardless of the era.

  • @zgreggz82 humility, class and manners: something that women today lack completely yet make insane demands they don't deserve.

  • "CONFERENCE PLEEAAASE!!!"

    hahaha

  • This is by far one of the best episodes of Whats my Line. Esther Williams was a great guest and had a good flair for comedy.

  • One of the best celebrity guests! Hilarious! Thanks for posting!

  • Absolutely, i agree.

  • very attractive with a great personality

  • I had no idea she was such a hoot! One of the best celeb guests ever on WML.

  • Ms. Esther was positively bubbly in this, no pun intended!!

  • I saw Miss Williams a few nights ago on WML?

She was GORGEOUS -- so much more than in her MGM films...less make up, and blonde..and so clever--- VA VA VA VOOOOOM! Get me to the nearest swimming pool -- I'm going in for a dip.

  • Miss Esther is fetching wet or dry! Such a delicious sense of humor. Utterly priceless tv. Thank you for sharing this hilarious Mystery Guest spot.

  • shes so cute in this

  • My father met Ester Williams once and said she was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen... and with a dynamite body. I really enjoyed her dramatic roles later in her career. She was a very good actress.

  • CONFERENCE PLEEEAAASE!!! haha....that was great

  • One of the funniest Mystery Guest spots I've seen. Thank you for posting it.

  • What a beautiful woman and a lovely voice.

  • She is enchanting. One of the best mystery guest on WML.

  • She's funny!

  • This was great! Esther had them confused for a while!

  • She is too cute!

  • Great clip. Thank you for posting it :)

  • oooooooooo lovesssssssssss her and i thought she was known for swimming?

  • Is she lorenzo lamas's mother?

  • No. His mother was Arlene Dahl :)

  • She was Lorenzo's stepmpther; she was married to Fernando Lamas.

  • at about ~ 4:40 "what color are you?" meaning her hair.. how times have changed. this is just great. i'll never forget watching her with Gene Kelly and Frankie Sinatra in that cute baseball movie.

  • "Take Me Out to the Ball Game." :) It was the first time I actually considered Esther Williams beyond her swimming--and it's a fantastic Gene Kelly/Frank Sinatra movie!

  • Thanx for posting. I have always been a big Esther Williams fan, and this is one of the most hysterically funny mystery spots ever. She certainly confused the panel. She certainly confused Dorothy Kilgallen, who is funny anyway. What on earth is that "Do you work for a profit making organization?" Who was she expecting -- Eisenhower?

  • I have never been a big fan of Esther Williams but she is hysterical in this. "Conference Please!" lol
