  • How do they talk about this piece without even mentioning Vince Guaraldi?

  • I bet you guys a million bucks his name is Chuck. Chuck N. (Norris)

  • i have a very hard time putting the 2 hands together. i always end up doing the right hand with both hands when i try. i know both parts well and can play them separately, but when i try putting them together it is a mess. Any suggestions??????

  • @epri97 try playing both parts separately with a metronome and get the ticks down in your head, then combine them with the metronome.

(this is what i'll be trying in a bit anyway, i'm still getting used to using my right pinky again xD goood, it's been so long)

  • @DEMONIIIK thanks! i will try that!

  • 18 people prefer Windows

  • They didn't play all of it:( I wanted to learn the whole thing

  • You guys are great! Glad I discovered this channel! :)

  • @fierceyy There is no "correct" key. Usually a tune gets known for being in the key it was recorded in some famous (or more often, first) version. However, in the case of vocal tunes (which this is not) singers will sing it in whatever key makes the melody best fit their range. In the case of your sheet music, it is probably a simplified arrangement of the tune, and many beginners are much less intimidated when tunes are in C. I'm pretty sure this clip is what the original recorded key was.

  • What do you cal that type of piano?

  • forgot second half bro

  • 16 thumbs-downers think they are such pros, yet they watch this.

  • IS IT CHRISTMAS YET????????????????????

  • Holy Moly! David Benoit kinda look like Charlie Brown. lol

  • Better start learning it now folks. Christmas is right around the corner, and you have to impress your family and friends!

  • THE Easy way is,,,, when the right hand plays, a flat b flat c c b flat a flat,,,,, play the right hand and the left in unison rhythm,,, then go back to original bass rhythm,, most people will not miss it,,,

  • 16 people couldn't rub their belly and pat their head.

  • 16 people miss the football

  • what notes are being played on the right hand. I can't see it that clearly. Can anybody help?

  • @Forgetthislife248 Errr, don't hold me to this, but it looks like:

    G[sharp] - A[sharp] - C - C - A[sharp] - G[sharp] - A[sharp] - G[sharp]; G[sharp] - A[sharp] - C - C

Can't use the number key on YouTube apparently. I hope I'm correct and this helps.

  • I just saw this show on pbs the other day... Lack of motivation was my main reason not learning.. but this guy made it look sooo easy.. So I went out and bought a nice electric keyboard.. cheap for starters!

  • thank you!!! chhers from italy!

  • Good Grief!!

You make it looks so easy!

  • 14 thumbs-downers are blockheads. Rats.

  • This is such a strong lesson for being so brief. I know I will be able to play this song eventually after watching this.I love how he suggested practicing each hand's task separately. BTW, David Benoit looks like he could be David Steinberg's brother. His voice bears no resemblance however.

  • Keyboard with matte paint on the keys?

  • 2:01

  • Does anyone else use their thumb for the C and Eb on the right hand riff?

  • @daabest1 No :P

  • @sirCheeseMaster lol it's easier

  • @daabest1 Eh, my hands are big enough so i can play those notes with 1&2 fingers.

  • @sirCheeseMaster well i have smallish hands so thats what i do... it makes the ending hard though

  • cool thanks!

  • he has stumpy fingers! like me!!!! xD

  • @MasterOfTheBlues take it as slow as possible when learning the two hands together. this will help you train your brain and hands to sync what notes in the left hand are played with the right.

  • I'm playing this song for my piano Final. It's a hard frikin song to play!

  • @MasterOfTheBlues

no its not d: it is very easy

  • @BlakesPOWERChannel You are wrong.

  • what channel is this show on?

  • i've been practicing this song for about 4 months and i still dont have it rightt!!!

  • steve jobs?

  • @HoopsMaster4 ironic isnt it.....

  • @BigRedCotter Wow... I forgot I made that comment

  • @HoopsMaster4 no

    xd

  • @HoopsMaster4 no! sadly, he's dead r.i.p

  • @mrrandomcuber You do realize that when he asked that Steve was alive, right?

  • @HunterJoaquin YES...

  • @HoopsMaster4 Whoa! It does lot like Steve Jobs!

  • This is awesome,,, If I only knew when this was on tv and what channell i would be waiting with a notebook to take notes

  • yes! i just learned this is 30 minutes :D

  • Thank you, I am still practicing..

  • What is that at 3:06?

  • @matthew623210 The 1812 Overture finale.

  • The only problem with your videos is that you only do poart of the song I know its really just about learning the riffs but itd be so awesome if u could do the whole song once

  • Folks I actually learned this melody by practicing scales, Thats why its very important to practice scales in every key at least 15 minutes a day, So important, it will build up dexterity and confidence, and when you practice a particular song youll already know it.

  • this version of how to play it is so different from i leaned at age 12

  • I LOVE THE MIC-ING ON THIS CLIP!

  • @pianoguytv what are the notes for the right hand

  • My small children rushed from computer to piano to computer to piano, soaking up this lesson!

  • Wrong. I have the actual sheet music written by Vince Guraldi. It's in the key of C.

  • Is it just me or the piano player, actually look like Charlie Brown?

  • I can't do both hands together yet. But separate i got it.

  • @MrJjraptor Simultaneous is always hard :/

  • go blackhawks!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'mm so confused. learned to play this in the Key of C, but everyone plays it in Ab

  • so easy yet it sound so hard!!! thank you very much!!!!

  • lol @ couldnt even play it slow himself

  • Love it! I catch your show whenever I can..(usually I am at work)..I am primarily an "ear" musician so your show is the best way for me to relate to any kind of lessons. I was fortunate to have seen David Benoit play here at the River Raisin Jazz Festival a couple of years ago and he did this song. I am glad I found your channel!

  • Thank you so so so so so much.

  • to me using flats are hard

  • The channel name looks like: PAIN-OG-YOU-TV

  • I just went slow. And it worked!!!!1

  • I love the Roland guitar amps also, i have a micro cube for travel conveniences.

  • what is that closing song?!?!?!?! i love it!

  • I kinda felt that it wasn't hard to play, it was just a matter of coordinating each hand. Practice, practice, practice!

  • I love how much these guys love piano, and picking out melodies from other songs. I do that all the time. Musical ppl rock!

  • it took me ten years to learn this piece cause for nine of those years i was playing it in the whites keys, all wrong. ;/

  • @overtime2005 You forgot to end that sentence with "FML"

  • @overtime2005 hahahaha wtf Thats pretty bad no offense

  • Is there any chance u will do something on the Roland AX (keytar)?

Or are there any videos were they give information about it?

  • love the sound of that piano/keyboard : )

  • I love this! SONG!

  • woah!! david benoit?!?! i've listend to him since i was a kid because my dad had all his CD's! wow!! ive never heard him talk before!!! amazing!

  • I put together Linus and Lucy on my channel showing the keys at both normal speed and played slowly if you want to learn it. Even knowing the keys, it's still a challenge :-)

    Enjoy!!!

  • What were the keys for the right hand

  • i love your show, your awesome scott, i've learned a lot of great tips watching your show, thanks for the video

  • How the HELL did they live the FUNKY part at the end out ?!!!!!!

  • @2JOHNNYT because its pretty damn hard and has some serious latin jazz techniques that people who are actually watching this video couldn't play

  • Great clip, and really loved that piano in the closing statement too. Very nice.

  • so easy!

  • This is too hard for me! I have small hands. so i cant stay in one position when im doing the right hand part. Do you have any tips for people with smaller hands?

  • my hands are a little bite size too-if you want you could take this advice-there are three chords in the melody-the first one i use my thumb and my "ring finger"-second one i use my index finger and pinky-last i move my hand over a little and use my middle finger and pinky-dont know if that'll help but give it a go

  • nice playing

  • Wow they are missing a crucial piece of instructions, when he plays it fast at the end watch his left hand, he throws in another note that he didn't mention in the movie, watch carefully, it took me a couple of times to notice.

  • Yea, it's an E-flat. Is it on purpose, do you think?

  • @DanishBoogieBoy ya its for the timing

  • Man, I gotta try that!

  • Fantastic video. I'm impressed :D I'm gonna subscribe.

  • Ever since I started playing piano 7 years ago, when i was only 8, (lol) i've wanted to play this!! I saw the music sheet sitting somewhere in my piano teacher's house and i thought, whoa, one day i HAVE to play this!! And now i'm learnin it! Thanks!! :)

  • Now, this presentation makes a lot more sense, especially when played slow. Much better presentation than China Grove!

  • 5:56...

  • @DancesWithSquirrelz lolol...

  • thanks so much!!!! i learned it in 10 minutes :D i really needed this song for christmas today ^^ thx :D

  • I got to say, I really like this song. So I wanted to try and play it on my keyboard. So I get it out of storage and I figure out that it is a half-keyboard and the tune is all whacked out! Grr.

  • aaah this is so hard

  • how do you write upside down?

  • Would this be considerd a Christmas type of song?

  • well i guess. but there is a christmas song from the peanuts classics from the christmas episode. it's called, CHRISTMAS TIME IS HERE. i being a piano player, prefer the instrumental version. because the kids sing along in that upper pitched voice wich is cute but doesn't sound good. so look up, CHRISTMAS TIME IS HERE INSTRUMENTAL

  • hey dude these are some great tips but when you are doing the right hand i need some keys don't know what they are

    can you tell me?

  • He's playing C-Aflat, Eflat-Bflat, and then the Aflat-C above). You just rock your hand back and forth on those three combinations.

  • WHAR

  • Yes, PBS...he is the Mr. Wizard of piano

  • whoa i swear this guy was on P.B.S lol

  • and u should too

  • Love this song and the show, and I'm fan of The Piano Guy too!

  • Nice sounding keyboard.

  • Thank you. It's a Roland. Great product!

  • @pianoguytv Yay product placement!

  • @pianoguytv lol commercializing

  • Who better to teach "Linus and Lucy" then the very man who was responsible for the music of the most recent Peanuts specials?

  • Every time I watch Charlie Brown I always hop on my piano and play this.

  • Thanks for posting this. I'd like to hear that short funky part to this piece. It was left out of the video.

  • that part is the easiest its on youtube here somewhere. this is the best tut with the beginning which is arghh

  • This is one of those songs that, no matter how casually, if you play the piano at all, you have to know!

  • Cool lesson!

  • This was catchy!!! =)
