Funny how even the saddest song sounded upbeat and nostalgic back in the 50's. There were some good songs like this one,and liked some of the folk singers too. Say what you want about the Pearl Jam version, there is true, deep, believable sorrow portrayed in that song that neither of these old school versions can touch. And with a subject matter like this, it should sound heartwrenching. This one makes you feel it a little more than the original. And Pearl Jam's makes you feel it more than this one I think.
