  • Wait so at one point i saw a ferret, i have never heard of ferreting rabbits so please explain. were you after ferrets or rabbits? or both? I would try to deduce this myself but in pictures all i saw was rabbits yet starting at 1:00 I defiantly saw a ferret.

  • Hey there I'm not into hunting being a city boy, but U was wonder how the dogs get on with the ferrets don't they attack them by accident. Or am I being silly thinking that one small furry animal is much the same to a dog.

    Thanks

  • Do the dogs ever turn on the ferrets? Just curious as I've never seen someone hunt using a ferret to flush out the rabbit to the dog.

  • dogs and ferrets are best friends at the farm,,,

both are good hunting to the rabbits,,,

a rabbit on tv cartoon show " WHATS UP DOC "

  • dam them dogs are fast!

  • dog is grayhound

  • nope, the dogs are salukis not greyhounds.

    yes, it is spelt grEyhound.

  • hi keeper,

thank fix my english grayhound to greyhound

  • how come the dogs don't go for the ferrets, my patterdale goes for anything that runs from it from mice to deer, i clocked him the other day with my sat nav at the side of my van 23mph! not bad for a 16" high 10kg dog

  • Probably the same reason a cat can be around a tiny mouse any not eat it. They were raised that way. The dogs have probably been introduced to the ferrets in a controlled area like inside the house well I don't know exactly how they do it but the dogs were exposed to the ferrets long enough to know they were on the same team. Then the dogs were probably trained specifically to hunt rabbits.

Plus dogs are a lot smarter then we give them credit for. They can read human body language to learn.

  • I am more amazed on how the dogs can run so fast and in such a large group and not smash into those tree like pillars.

  • ha ha, yeah there those plastic things protecting the baby trees from the rabbits eating them. my dog has hit a few of them, it sound like a car crash when he does, i always think i'm guna find him on the floor but he just barrells through them. one time though it sprung him back, tha was funny

  • @TheGFreeman its called stock breaking, every responsible hunting dog owner does it, most pet owners dont, and then hunting dog owners get the blame when loose pet dogs kill sheep and worry cattle. when the dog is young but has come to trust you you have to introduce his to the stock he is not allowed to hunt, ferrets sheep cattle horses cats etc.

interestingly enough, many terriermen have been known to adopt fox and badger cubs, which live with the terriers, even though the dogs hunt wild ones

  • sounds like a mans dog. you cant have a patterdale if its not gonna nack everything. my mates latched onto a cow!

  • I love ferreting and we are trying to uses are colley to help but she is like WTF do i do after ive chased the rabbit lol

  • cool is it legal to ferret hunt in California?

Are ferrets hard to take care of?

Is it hard to train them?

Were can I buy them and how much do they cost?

  • i don´t get this - if you want to get some bunnies, get a sling shot and hunt them.!

  • lol, and is a slingshot...even in professional hands going to account for up to fifty rabbits in a day? i think not. you promise the land owner you will clear the land of as many rabbits as you can, and then you turn up with a slingshot...whats he going to think, be professional about it, use good dogs and as much equipment as you can afford, then you can get results.

  • well, in this case maybe not, but i was talking for normal hunting.i didn´t know that someone hired someone to clean his land from rabbits!

  • welcome to the real world buddy.

  • ferrets are illegal in California, very illegal, ive heard horror stories about people trying to keep one there. they say they are a hazard to the environment there...which is dumb by the way.

  • its a pretty poor law, but from other americans i have heard that in the places that you can get ferrets, they arent cheap like 200 USD and are neutered, this means obviously that every time you want a new ferret or to increase your stock, you have to buy a new one instead of breeding your own, and they wont be from proven working stock. gutted. they are usually free here or up to 15 pounds but rarely more than that. maybe you should move.

  • As you can see no ferrets are involved.

  • eh?

  • I got a rescue lurcher just before christmas. She is half greyhound half boarder collie we think. We dont hunt but you can certainly see that she wants too whenver you take her to the park. Her ears prick up, or if she sees a cat!. She has scars on her face and hind legs, does this occur from hunting? This hunting looks Ok to me I dont see why they would get scars, the owner obviously loves the dogs, but I reckon ours was probably used by some gypo scum. I hate gypos, absolute filth they are.

  • they arent all filth...but in all fairness alot of them are, and gypos steal dogs which is why yours maybe ended up in a rescue center, probably owned by a pest controller and i expect she got the scars from foxes, nothing to worry about just superficial wounds that the dog barely noticed, you should try her out, have a look around and see if anyone will take you out lamping, she will probably know what to do, its just down to you to learn the basics.

  • If I was offered to go on a rabbit hunt I probably would but not something I would seek out. I have 3 air rifles and a lurcher so would be ideally set really. My lurcher keeps gettin ducks at the minute, she stalks the buggers in the bushes. Luckily though she lets go of most of em and they live to fight another day.

  • what are they pet ducks? or are they protected, if i had a dog taking ducks i would be pleased since its free food and tastier than rabbit. anyhow you want to try your lurcher on deer, whats the breeding?

  • They are of the park pond variety, so protected. Plus we dont have the know how (and were too squeamish) to pluck and prepare the thing ourselves. She is to our belief a greyhound/ border collie mix. Im not sure she could take a deer, her teeth arnt so clever. She wou;d be game to try though im sure of it.

  • theres only one way to find out, find yourself some nice land and try her out on a small deer, collie/greys are generally fast enough for deer but gameness doesnt come into it really for deer, they are what the dog will naturally want to hunt the most, the meat to effort ratio is what they think about, most dogs are willing to chase deer give her ago and see if you can enjoy it as much as she will.

  • Thanks for the advice, but im a live and let live kind of guy. The only thing ive ever killed was a mouse when we had a mouse infestation and I shot it in the kitchen. If offered to do pest controlling with someone like rabbits, rats, mice etc I would probably do it. But I wouldnt want to kill a deer or fox.

  • each to there own, i personally enjoy knowing where the food i eat has come from and how it died, something that the rest of britain is blissfully ignorant of, even with such tv shows as kill it cook it eat it, but alot of people cannot stomach it, and that is not there fault, its societies fault for allowing us to become o detached from nature.

  • some beauties there mate, lovely dogs, i wouldnt have so many running with me but if you dont want to eat the rabbit then thats alrite, good for ferret food no matter what condition its in...

  • And a good day was had by all, quite an adrenalin rush!

  • fuckin ace video m8!

  • nice one

  • good vid mate

  • are you ignorant or just plain stupid glazlad10?

  • mint

  • I think you will find you are WRONG on all accounts. Your a complete MOON MUPPET!

  • wow they are fast!!!

  • I not like ferrets fur smell bad and bit my finger FUCK Ferret

  • Did you know ferrets have a 6th sense? They bite ignorant people. It's true, as you've found out the hard way.

  • Yeah Ferret bit my finger then yelled my arm shaked throw ferret hit on wall but ferret ran hide couch its not my pet from my friend s pet

  • That's crazy, i didn't know people still use ferrets for this. Does the ferret come back when you call it somehow? Or are rabbit holes one way deals?

  • its more complicated than that baserocklove, you can use locator collars liner ferrets or patience some ferrets will come to a squeak but not most, just takes a bit of knowhow...you can have one holers or five hundred holers, they can be one foot deep or twenty foot deep depending on the ground and the age of the bury...

  • keep up good work

  • keep up the good work

  • keep up the good work

  • loving your vid :) my dad did this i have 2 lurchers who used to help lol and my family bred ferrets and lurchers when i was little lol is great lmao

  • brilliant video mate i love watchin a bit of ferretin. keep them video's comin

  • Keep up the good work FCUK the Antis SCUM!!!!!

  • I have a ferret as a domestic house pet. I feed him mice sometimes. But I put a video of him eating a mouse on here and alot of people got ofended. They didnt think it was right to feed a ferret mice. They do not understand that ferrets were domesticated to hunt mice and rabbits. Thats what they naturaly do.

  • To all the anti's on here. I had 2 rescue lurchers, never heard of coursing before that. I took them out on the airfield and they did what came natural to them! They are bred for it and love it - we ate a lot of rabbit and hare and it was good, too :-)

  • i have got a whipet bedlington lercher and we have just startid taking im rabitting wel es 6 months we tek im out once a month dnt preshure im to mucj es black with white on es chest n white to paws on the bak feet

  • awsome

  • nice video man good quality i think it's class as you said to use the dogs for what they were meant to do awsome video man nice looking dogs aswell

  • so did you use three dogs and a ferret

  • nice one roll on september the month i usualy start ferreting and lamping.

  • Well jun7per, we believe in letting our dogs do what they were bred to do. There is certainly nothing Poor about them. We currently have seven lurchers and salukis who will live out their happy hunting lives in our house. Not all people who use dogs for hunting abuse them, infact if you looked into it you will probably find they think more of their dogs than those who have them soley as pets. Sadly a small minority dont but please dont make a judgement based on them!! Ignorance at its best:(

  • You ignorant fool. These dogs were bred to hunt. I bet lazylurchers dogs have a more fullfilled life than yours! Keep up the good work man

  • the people who abuse dogs or any animals need shootin

  • lol dont hate hunter lad hate dog thieves, lurchers get stolen more than any other dog, most hunters dont abuse dogs atall, and most dont dump them, that is gypo territory, they are dog theiving scum and are hated by all lurcher owners, so fuck off you ignorant cunt before you go bad mouthing the hunting community, who are keeping your local vegetable prices low, retard, if people didnt hunt rabbits we would have the same problem that we did a while back 100mil rabbits and land you cant use

  • @jun7per what a ridiculous sweeping statement! lurchers love hunting, in what way is that abusing them? what a retard!

  • @jun7per

thats a terrible and one sided thing to say... These dogs wake up every day in hopes that they can work and do what their blood is even flowing for.. Yes they can still be a sleepy couch pig when they come home after a happy day of hunting. You need some light shed on the subject. A non abused hunting dog that is worked is a happy dog!

  • @jun7per Yeah blame the hunters. And you watched it so that'll make it 54,207.

  • @jun7per

my dogs are working dogs they love working. there nouthing els they would rather do than being out running quary. and theres a much bigger bond when you work with your dogs

  • @jun7per Grow up, i have two lurchers who both are used for hunting and neither one has been mistreated, where do you get all this bull shit from about dogs being abused when they are working dogs ?? yeah yours might of but there are thousands and thousands of working dogs that are not mistreated. Oh and my lurchers are not poor lurchers they have a fantastic life doing what they were bred to .

  • I saw a white ferret at 1:00min passing by! tell me are da dogs an da ferrets working together to hunt rabbits or what..? plz dont tell me da dogs is huntin ferret cuz thats sad man.. nice vid

  • canino247 lol, yes the dogs and the ferrets are both hunting rabbits...bless your little townie soul

  • Hey dude what dog is tha fastest one?

  • Quickest off the mark is the beddie/whip/grey running at 0.22

  • what song is that?

  • "Swamp Thing" by "The Grid"

  • Wow! look at that speed! impressive!!

  • Thanks

  • your easily impressed m8 lol

  • your dogs arnt up to much there is 4 of them chasing a rabbit and they cant catch it LOL

  • GAYLAD Ive just been looking at your FAVOURITE videos and for someone who is so dead set against animal "cruelty" hunting shooting etc, you seem to spend an awful lot of time watching videos about what you claim to hate lol, I would even go so far as to say its a bit of an obsession, maybe you should actually go hunting sometime you might like it lol

  • What a load of rubbish, its not illegal to hunt rabbits in the UK with dogs and ferrets, you need to get your facts right before you make such stupid comments. The Police will probably either tell you the same, or tell you off for wasting their time lol

  • Ha Ha! You sad, sad person?? It is not illegal! - check your facts! Hope you get done for wasting police time.

  • Glazlad have you nowt better to do than act like a pr*ck? Would it not be an idea to do some research so that you know what your talking about before you open your mouth.

Running rabbits a criminal activity? Get in the real world ya tit.

  • That's a crackin video Lazylurchers, thanks for sharing it.Was your heart not in your mouth when the dogs were coursing the rabbits through the plantation?

  • Thanks for the comments,it certainly gets your blood pumping if nothing else.

    Regards

    Mark

  • top vid ,that is good team work.

and not in open field, thaks.

    pls more.

  • Thanks, most of the place I ferret and hunt are in woods, rough ground, etc so it's difficult to get good clear footage.

  • great video. dogs are marvellous, wicked soundtrack - anyone know what it is?

  • Hi there, The sound track is 'Swamp Thing' by 'The Grid'

    Regards

    Mark

  • excellent, thanks very much

    happy hunting

    rich

  • Truly awesome vid! Looks like a helluva lot of fun indeed.

  • Funny to hear you hound people talking. Sled dog racing is also all about mixed hounds now (Huskies are like a double decker at Le Mans). Greyhounds, pointers, Salukis, etc. I can see that half those lurchers would be great sled dogs. All they have to do is keep up that pace for 10 or 20 miles, and they will be great. Excellent dogs, guys, keep it up!

  • sorry man, i had a saluki back to a whippet. the worrst dog in the world. took it lamping. effing useless. took my collie greyhound, best dog in the world, tenfold.

  • i have a full whipet and its a wee cracker on the lamp and and at ferreting

  • anybody know of any lurcher racing in rep of ireland coming up? im really intrested

  • How many ferrits you working? i find working 2-3 is best, but i dont use the dogs just purse nets.

  • i got a beddy whippet,in her fist coursing season and shes got 23 rabbits 1 hare so fare so fast but shes a bit dappy=)

  • man these dogs are stinning. What cross lurcher are they?

  • The two rough coated greys are wee Beddy x Whippet x Greyhound, the black one is Saluki x and the spotted one is pure Saluki

  • great vid and education. where is this/are you?

  • you cant get a better breed than the bedlington cross, perfect size for all round hunting, pretty inteligent dogs too happy hunting.martyn c cumbria

  • Amazing vid mate, i love this sport

  • mad dogs man they quik 2

i got cupple kelpies tat do the job so i luv it

  • Cool Video. Reminds me of when I would go rat hunting with Blackie and Brownie. Only, they tended to eat them once caught. I didn't mind though...to me, it was all fun. Cheers.

  • those dogs have never seen a hard days graft in their lives

  • Awesome dogs mate, my Bedlington cross always amazes me with her hunting and retreiving skills. Lurchers are the best

  • Fab video! Reminds me of when I used to go lamping in my yoof. *grin* I absolutely love the ferret towards the end of the video -he's all like "yep, just changing holes here, nothing to see, go about your business" ~disappears down hole~ LOLOL Excellent!

  • Are the dogs trained not to kill the ferrets? If yes... do they ever in the heat of the moment mistake a ferret for a rabbit? This is not a sport for me, but I can see your dogs totally love doing this.

  • lol nice they move fast nice dogs :D

  • That scruffy grey one is a Beddie x right? I have one of those, super little dogs. I hope to have working Lurchers someday. lurchers are by far one of the most humane ways of pest control.

  • Very good dogs,I love Lurchers. The ferret did a good job too.

The comments by the anti's are ridiculous. You can see at the end the rabbits are in one piece. A good spft mouthed Lurcher will catch the rabbit and bring it back to the owner unharmed, so that it can be despatched. This is important as the rabbits will often be sold to butchers and they won't buy them if they are torn up.

  • how the fuck them dogs dont hit anything i dont know ??? good dogs!!!

  • mate train them there only stag hounds

  • Nice video! Good to see the ferrets working. I must try and get some video clips sorted out this ferreting season.

    Ollie

  • Absolutely amazing.

  • Your dogs are like lightning! But it was a team effort, so show us the little guys doing half the work

  • Ok so the ferrets are sent down the holes to flush out the rabbits while the dogs chase them down once they leave the hole?

  • The dogs actually catch the rabbits that are flushed out although some do get away (back down other holes)

  • i love your dogs man there quick and really trained my friend has like 25 ferrets and 2 dogs he get about 50 rabbits every time he hunts but nice work

  • if you anti tossers dont like it,dont f***ing watch it(i dont like tofu do i stop you eating it?)

  • great sport but has ur dogs ever went for your ferrets i do it too i use a deer hound bt?

  • Great sport and by far the best natural way of controlling rabbits. I'm hoping to get a similar dog to work with my ferrets next season. I hope it turns out as good as yours.

  • nice,don't miss the ferret at 1:00!

  • nice to see dogs working sorry about your loss its always hard to lose a friend

chin up she'll be working up in dog heaven :)

  • Damn, those dogs are so LIGHTNING FAST!

  • ferret and rabbit are big different animals

  • Never heard of this sport before. Interesting. For the people who say it is animal abuse, maybe in some form it is but what do you think people used back when they did not have traps and what not?? Just something to think about.

  • If they are pests why not just shoot em?.Its a bit more humane than being ripped apart alive.Sad b*stards, get a life.

  • Winky - where exactly do you see rabbits being ripped apart alive? This is the problem with you antis - sheer ignorance! Just you keep polishing your bike mate! And you call me sad!

  • Lovely to see these dogs doing what they do best, and what they are happy doing. Nice one

  • Do you eat the rabbits? They are great on the grill. It looks like you have enough there for dinner. May I suggest a honey-garlic with a bit of spice?

  • great vid mate.never mind the antis they dont know what theyre talking about this is hunting in one of its most simple and natural forms. keep up the good work. more vids please.

  • wow i have just got a lurcher he is 12 weks old any tips???

  • Nice video, country life as it should be, man working in harmony with animals to keep the countryside in balance.

For those that complain... if it wasn't for pest control, there'd be no crops for you to eat!

  • Why not just shoot the poor rabbits? Doesnt matter if they belong there or not.. no animal deserve a death like that. Tards.

  • Thats great. SAhut up all u ppl who complain....Rabbits are feral and need to be wipped out (obviously not where they are native). Its a lot less cruel using dogs rather than bait.

  • This is absolutley disgusting.

  • Great vid mate, and a pretty cool soundtrack too.

I shoot, beat, occasionally ferret and snare. Can't wait 'til I can get a lurcher.

  • what a brilliant video, really portrays what countryside pursuits are all about, well done.

  • Pest control at its finest...I can only imagine how many protests you're going to get for this one though. "THAT IS SO CRUEL...HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO THOSE ANIMALS? I'M CALLING PITA!" Just blow it off...people don't realize that wild rabbits are only native to Europe and they're pests everywhere else.

  • Nice one mate, The dogs look belting there
