First entering ROH in 2006 in a loss to Austin Aries, Edwards broke out of his shell in 2010, winning a Ladder War match and Survival of the Fittest, both with a SEVERE SHOULDER INJURY.
The storyline with Davey Richards which culminated at Best In The World reminded me of the rivalry between Mitsuharu Misawa and Toshiaki Kawada.
Only in Ring Of Honor would you be able to see such emotion in a storyline, not the one-dimensional crap in WWE. The last time WWE had that was WrestleMania 20.
@liveandletrock864 Because they respect art. Americans as a culture aren't taught that. We're taught to be pushy, in your face and domineering. Like everybody owes us something.
I'd like to see more of Edwards. I know that he's the current ROH World Champ and that he competed in this years DDT4 (?) but besides that, I've only ever seen 2 matches and a music video. He seems like a mix between Chris Hero, Prince Devitt, Colt Cabana and Davey Richards in my opinion and for some reason, a 1% shade of Diehard Dustin Lee. Any matches you suggest?
They really should stop calling it an Achilles lock. Achilles lock requires the blade of the wrist to be putting pressure on the Achilles tendon & trying to hyper extend the ankle. Is Edwards doing that? Sadly no.
When ROH first formed the American Wolves I was pissed cause Davey Richards was and still is my favourite indy wrestler, amd I thought that Edwards wasn't good enough to team with him and was holding Richards back, but over time Edwards massively improved both in the ring and on the mic, and the Wolves became the best tag team in the world at that time. Now I'm a big fan of Edwards and think that he is one of the highlights of Adam Pearce's reign as ROH booker (which I thought was good).
If I'm remembering correctly from what I was told Eddie trained with Slyk Wagner Brown because he was the trainer at Kowalski's at the time, but his most development occured at WFA which was Steve Bradley's promotion.
Just wanting an opinion from anyone who sees this, including you Dragon, who do you think is the better all around wrestler when it comes to the American Wolves?
@Sakima Edwards has his points honestly but Richards is all around just a little beast I swear... They compliment eachother perfectly though thats for sure.
Sometimes, I can find what I need for a video in one match, sometimes I use a variety. With someone like Edwards, who has primarily wrestled for ROH over the last couple of years, usable footage of his isn't exactly easy to find, so I have to use what I can.
I've met Edwards a couple of times, and his tag team with DC Dillinger in New England Championship Wrestling, known as Sabotage, was a MAJOR highlight from 2004 until he stopped making appearances for NECW when his RoH and Japan careers began to take off in '06.
Do you rank these by how impressive they are (difficult to execute, how well they're executed, etc.) or by how often they're used to finish off opponents or how well they're sold?
The Achilles Lock involves Eddie planting his knee into the back of the victim, and applying almost a standing Heel Hook. He went for it briefly here, but quickly transitioned into the Half Crab.
I'm glad to see ROH is finally giving Eddie a chance to do things on his own. He's really been overshadowed by Davey. I mean Davey IS the better wrestler without a doubt, but Eddie can really get it done in the ring. He could improve on the mic, though.
I've personnaly never seen an Eddie Edwards single matchs I truley enjoyed. If he had charisma and mic skills he wouldn't need to be carried by Davey Richards. Then again, he might of gotten betetr since he got the TV Belt, I gave up watching ROH months ago
@zigguratmesop I gave up on the ROH on HDnet show a while a go, all you get is one good main event every 2-3 shows, the rest is always garbage and squash matchs, but I'll look that one match up. Still can't believe they had him go over Davey

@chainsawproof99 His GHC Jr. Title match with Kotaro Suzuki is one of the best matches this year and arguably the best GHC Jr. Title match ever.

All that great footage and his preferred method of ownage is.......a HALF CRAB??!! Well, worked for Lance Storm.
PyroProspectParagon 1 year ago
I think he calls his half crab a reverse achilles lock...Is that really what it's called or is it just called that because it sounds better?

Nothing's in any sort of specific order, but finishing moves and signature moves will be more toward the end of the video.

that half crab...isnt it an achilles lock?
he doesnt focus on locking a crab, but focusing on squeezing the achilles tendon
