People leave the church becausethey find out its a fraud. The lucky ones get out with some money left. The unfortunates get screwed completely either by the church Inc or by someone in leadership.

I live in Utah, known as the scam capital of America. I see what goes on here. When you are LDS and live in an area populated with a lot of Mormons they make the news--locally. I spend time in Las Vegas quite often and they seem to have many more scams going on there, yet never a mention of the LDS scams in Utah. IOW, outside of Utah LDS related whitecollar crime is but a blip on their radar. We seem to notice it because we are tuned into it, is all I'm suggesting.

Crime stats (all crime) show that generally, Utah tracks the national average. However there was a spike in Utah crime from about 1995 to 2002 significantly above the nat'l avg.--(when it was named the scam capital).

2006 stats showed Utah to be about 10% below the national avg. 70% of Utah crime is of the white collar/scam type. How much of that Utah crime is LDS related? -- dunno

I had my life savings stolen by my 'Inspired' Branch President and we also had the Branch Tithes and Offerings Stolen by him also.

I was confused at first because I trusted the Lords Voice and then I was told it is for a good reason. God is testing my faith ??

Anyway the church did pay for my 18 Month Mission where I got to peddle Joseph Smith's lies. ( I didn't know I was teaching false history). After the mission my favourite investigator told me about the Hat and stone.:(((

Its quite common amongst the Mormon cultur for members either to be ripped off by a Priesthood Leader in a position of Authority or to be caught up in Multi Level marketing Scams. We are taught that Blessings of Money will come if we obey the Priesthood. It's BS of course :)

I was taken in by another cult called AMWAY back home in my Eastern European country and wasted my time with that also :(
