Keep in mind that at a fair there may only be 1 or 2 specimens of any given breed. So, if he was the only English Angora there and took BOB, it's basically meaningless. I would really think (I am an Angora breeder and exhibitor myself) that no Judge would place this matted animal BOB over a non-matted, well cared for animal.

-.-'' ew..i hate angora breeds..look likes some fluff ball..like a .. (something that cant be describe) no offence but that looks more like a mutated guinea pig
3 words. oh. my. god! they're so cute, yet at the same time i cant stop laughing....at it, not with it. and yes, it is an it. Cousin It to be precise.
Breeding for this kind of coat is a human endeavor. These rabbits did not evolve this way naturally. Most rabbit breeds resulted from human breeding programs where they wanted a certain trait (for no other purpose than to show them or get the fur product). But I will say the fur doesn't bother them if it's cool and they are groomed. In hot weather another story, but you can give them haircuts. I have 6 angoras. They always have haircuts.
lol! I may name my cat that...hopefully it'll still be available.I've just done some research on guinea pigs vs rabbits and decided to get a rabbit, hence I'm unable to have a pet dog or cat. I had a black one in mind, and guess what, I came across an add posted a couple of days ago for a FREE 2 year old black angora rabbit, with a case and stand. Do you have a rabbit, is it affectionate, is it a lot of work to maintain/??
Using the fur is a wonderful! Some places spin it and make bracelets and such to sell to help the rescues. I don't like the housing this poor bunny had standing on wire cage bottoms in that small cage. So sad, no life, just show rings and breeding. They should all get to live in happy homes with their families who love them. I'm going to feed mine now some fresh dandelions just picked from my yard :-). I have 4 but 10 that I foster while looking for a good home for them. Mine are all inside safe
lol, how an i supposed to know if it feels uncomfterable, im not a rabbit. lol. and i did not see her struggle in he summer at all, we always took her camping with us. we got her at our local pet store when she was a baby,so, just look around for one and you soon will find. there must me an angora farm somewhere u live cuz thats where they harvest and use their fur. i am so against that.
Angoras go through molts and slough off their wool. Then it should be gently plucked off from the rabbit. If not, it can mat or the rabbit will swallow the wool while grooming itself and her stomach will get blocked up. That can kill her. So, harvesting the molted wool is a good health and management practice.
They don't get skinned and killed for their fur. They shed it and it's plucked off of them very easily when it is ready to come out... no cutting of skin involved!!!! I have an angora myself and it's very easy to pluck when it is ready.

Poor bunny, it must feel super hot. They need to have their fur clipped after a bit, otherwise they'll be really uncomfortable.

yes, but some people still do acually kill them! my teacher has an angora scarf that has balls of "rabbit skin" on them in a string.
sugabee123 3 years ago
That hurts my heart :(. Your teacher should be skinned just for wearing it.

thats what i thought. i git her a differemt scarf for her birthday though so she did not have to use that one
