the thing about this though is that I usually find myself picking up weapons on the go. While the described method is faster, it forces you to stay in that spot until you pick your weapon back up, where as if you do it the normal way, you can switch weapons before you get to the weapon, pick it up, and keep going.

just switch to your pistol, pick up the weapon of your choice from the ground and instantly double tap Y or triangle(ps3 ftw) then switch to your normal weapon, had millions of situations where a guy comes as soon as i pick up a weapon and because i used this strategy i killed him with the same weapon i picked up :)

easier way is to just wait til your primary of choice is "coming out" then as soon as u notice the weapon in your hands double tap switch weapon and its ready to use just as fast, if not faster... practice doing this can make it faster than the supposedly "faster" method shown by woody.

For those confused, the first one is Y-X-Y while the second one is X-Y-X. The "Y" animation takes a while, so moving from two "Y"'s to one speeds up the overall animation.

to explain this. from his primary out, switches his primary for the other one on the ground. he then switches to his pistol and trades his pistol for his original primary. because of this the end result of the switch is that he has his original primary out and the other primary in his pocket.
