My goodness! I get speechless, with my mouth wide open when I hear this!
What a great and powerful voice! Awesome! Beautiful music!
Gino Vanneli, the great singer who could conquer hearts with the power of his voice and music. No gym or workout needed! Just the natural divine given gifts!! Such a talented human being!!!
ah yes the afro mullet, lol. You can say what u want about the hair and the clothes of the era, but never at any time in my humble opinion has music been so beautiful.
One of my faves from a dreamy man with a message! On any day listening to him lifts me....thanks Gino, you're a prince among singers! The 80's were a great time for meaningful music.....there were actual words/verses/bridges not repetitious nonsensical drivel. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate a good beat like anybody else but if the music doesn't move you to any heights what's the point of it?
in 1981 i was in the 1st grade of junior high. I was also lucky to grow up in the 80's movies, food were cheap. music scenes were great.the poor thing was there was no you tube yet. LOL
Dame right ! I grown, up to both those era's ! 70's, 80's the fall of rael music! I seen . Gino in 75, in Santa monica, Civic! talk about underrated, talent, these, days are no comparison tfo the days, of romantic, rock, progressive , note's of time indifinte! I know that i was , and now still am , because i can go back in time ! to any era, that i lived and felt, ! love way, that this all unfolder ! we are all Lucky! to be in this time ! of struggle , freedom, and justice, love in never out.
One of the greatest I so love the 70's and 80's best music every....Do not understand what these people listen to today oh yeah wait remakes just different version
Wonder what has become of Gino's brother (Joe) who is playing the white grand piano in this video. I understand he was Gino's composing partner for most of the major hits.
Useless trivia: This was the biggest US hit of May 1981 not to chart across the Atlantic. So what were the British listening to instead? Look up Stand and Deliver by Adam and the Ants, which failed to chart in the States at the same time.
@cosmo1444 that's wild! I use to sing in a Band called Spring High at Spiro's. It was a great band with horns and all. It rocked! Best time of my life! Didn't know it then but I do now,we did awesome songs! I even sung Brother To Brother by Gino! Vallie
Oh man, what a coincidence! I live in NJ now, born and raised in Houston, and would you believe he played at the Hyatt Regency Hotel restaurant one night? I must have been 10 years old, wearing a maxi dress, drueling over this gorgeous man's chest hairs! Yeah baby!
@tubebitch12 Yep, it's pretty much "After the Love Is Gone" played in a minor key with different lyrics. But still, "Living Inside Myself" is great song. Gino is an amazing vocalist!
@AnoukaKC Earth Wind and Fire's song was released in the late 70s. Gino's song came out in '80-'81-ish. Both are amazing songs, but Gino has a much more powerful singing voice.
@wellyes So what if somebody else thought this song sounded like another one! Dude, you're entitled to disagree, but that comment makes you look like an asshole who insults others to feel better.
I love this song so much! I miss this kind of music. This is what real music is. I can't even turn the radio on anymore because the music these days is really terrible.
As I said someplace else, Gino was often looked at as just a heartthrob, a pretty boy, but he was/is so much mire. The musicians/songwriters I played/wrote with in the UK just adored him as a real pro's pro, a musician who really knew what sounds good. Joe does some amazing work on the keys, and he always had killer drummers in back of him. And those chord changes are just HOLY.
It's nice to look at the women in the background and say to myself, "They have such beautiful voices" as opposed to looking at their bodies...something that can't be said nowadays.
He is Great! His songs bring so many nice memories back to me when I was dating my husband. We are still together almost 30 years and just as in love. Thank you for the beautiful songs
I was all of 7 years old when this was released; it always made me stop and listen even though I had no idea what the lyrics meant. I just loved his voice. It was how I thought a man should sound when he sings. Still love it as an adult.
@malissasweety Yes, I feel absolutely no sexual attraction for him, but his voice IS rather sexy... And I LOVE the "bridge" in this song, too... My fave is proably "Just a Motion Away", though as a kid, I thout he sang "It's Just Emotional Way"... :-)
In 1981 I was in 6th grade and loving this song. I was so damn lucky to grow up in the 80's! What a great decade of tunes! Easily a great decade for great music.
@wickedout2010 - I was 15 and graduating from high school in Los Angeles, CA... and it was amazing. This song was played for Luke and Laura on General Hospital and I thought, "wow, it is the most beautiful time ever." The 70's and the 80's were the BEST times EVER! 2000 - 2010 SUCKED... the worse of times for me. This song very uplifting!
@wickedout2010 Yep, I was about your age too in the summer of 1981 about to enter the 7th grade. My god the summer of 81 had SO many great songs. Not enough space to list them all here of course, but "endless love", "Bette Davis Eyes", Beatles Medly by stars on 45, "how bout us", "jessies girl", "urgent", theme from greatest american hero.........holy shit there were more great songs from that summer ALONE than the entire decade of the 90s or 2000's!!!
@rawn4203--wow, both you and wickedout mirrored my own pre-teen experience except I was going into 8th grade. The summer of 1981 was amazing in so many ways. It was the music (the hits you mentioned plus Air Supply, Kenny Rogers, Styx, Reo Speedwagon), movies (Raiders of the L. Art, History of The World), arcade video games (Pac-Man), discovering girls (well, for me, at least) and just hanging out with friends without all the pretensions and insecurities of today. So happy to be an 80s kid!
One of my favorite songs of all time. Is anyone, other than I, familiar with Gino's recording of "Love Of My Life"? Don't see it on YouTube. I have it on a DJ 45 and wish I knew how to post it with some kind of visual. The song reminds me a bit of the theme from the old TV show "Moonlighting". A really powerful song, especially if you turn it up loud; lots of good drumming in it.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written! I'd hear this on the radio as a kid and literally stop what I was doing to listen. (I still do when I hear it.)
Thank god Herb Alpert recognized Gino Vannelli's amazing talent and signed him just as he was about to give up on a singing career. This man's voice is astonishing, not to mention his writing ability. His songs are stellar, they are unique -- no cover of his songs could ever compare to the originals. Gino's voice and the lyrics are powerful and passionate. Thank you Gino for many year of wonderful songs. :)
@redrosestoo I never knew that! Some of the best people out there are the ones that are struggling and I share your sentiment about Herb Alpert. What chance would Gino have had in this day of instant pop star? I wonder.

@gordyfri I feel you, gordy. I just lost my mom last week, and I'm spiraling into a deep depression I doubt I'll be able to get out of. My mom was my rock, my life, my friend, and I don't know how I'll survive without her. I feel your pain, and I hope things get better for you.
@robbiesyohn .. theres a simple answer to that... saturation of the sheer NUMBERS of artists that have bypassed the record companies and are instead doing things independently. Another and VERY vital fact of life in the field of music and music artists. TALENT by itself? has very little to do with the success factor. Its a combination of right place right and time and most important of all..... destiny. ... Nicola~
Just imagine how many women this stud nailed back in his prime during the 70's when AIDS did not exsist. He could probably even rival Gene Simmonds in that department.
this is making me cry.. just remember being like 13-14 yrs old and having a masssive crush on this man.. my sisters bf was in his fan club and actually got to meet him!! damn he was hot!! now being older these words are bitter sweet.. :((((
I had (access) to the Gino Vanelli 8 track cassette and now thinking back, those songs were the bomb. Quality wise, it was quite impressive for tape. This compressed online version doesn't do it justice, it was very well crafted.
This is the Gino Vanelli That I know with his Long Curly Hair. Singing those Awesome Songs with his Voice strong enough to melt most of the Female Population. Not his later songs about the Music and not his Voice.
Linda música..

Just imagine how many women this stud nailed back in his prime during the 70's when AIDS did not exsist. He could probably even rival Gene Simmonds in that department.

I remember a radio host in NYC making a joke about this song when it first came out. He said "I was once trapped inside my own pancreas". Ha, Ha Ha!
