  • WTF even the GAY community is segmented!!!!

  • Well I think there is a propensity for groups of people to become clique like. Though I do feel as a Transman I have found more acceptance from the Bear community that from the typical mainstream twink scene. Mainly because we FtM's are cute, and are aware of our inner self.

I think some of it has to do with the BDSM/Leather culture which overlaps more frequently in the Bear scene than it does in the Twink scene. So for me I see BDSM people being more open to gender variations.

  • The bear movement died in 2000,just like every other gay group they became bitchy, full of attitude and it all became about the way you looked.

  • @buddydon1971 No, that is untrue. The bear movement is very much alive and well. It has become more exclusive and not all encompassing as it once was. Now it seems at a minimum you need a hairy chest to be accepted with a beard preferably. I am a stereotypical bear and took my young, smooth friend to a bear run. Many guys hit on me but ignored my friend. He felt bad but ended up with me at the end of the night so there you go.

  • I loved this vid!

  • The bear movement is dead and kind of a cliche'.

People want to be individuals now and I think the horrible behavior exemplified by bear/cub whatevers is equal to the horrible bahavior of other gay sub groups. This is a tired fetish if you want to even call it that.

  • The bear movement is not dead. Lazy Bear, Bear Week, IBR, TBRU are all examples of the bear community thriving.

  • @dhbearguy actually it is very dead. Just because you have "Bear Events"still happening doesn't mean that the ORIGINAL bear movement isn't dead. Sad to say but it is. The bears today are just another stereotype or gay clone. The bear movement came about in response to the whole Castro clone of the 80's but as I said, now it is just another type of clone.

  • @Ursusatlanta Please, the bear movement like everything else, is evolving and ever changing! Calling the bear movement dead is like agreeing that Sarah Palin will be the next President. I can't believe you feel that way unless you don't have any type of education or are just plain sociologically unaware!

  • @azdrcub Girlfriend, get over it. It's a joke.

  • @azdrcub Girlfriend, get over it. It's a joke.

  • My experience with the bear community has not been a good one. I have faced discrimination because I am a black male. I would be considered an "otter" in the community. I haven't seen many blacks in the community other than if you are with someone else already either as a partner or a close friend (who would bring you to gatherings).

  • "get over it, girlfriend" LOL

  • my boyfriend is one kind lovable polar bear

    and I'm proud of him.

  • @leftshoulderhair Polar bears are great in bed!!!!! As one who has loved a polar bear or nine!

  • This video is obviously VERY old since they are still refering to the bear movement as 'all inclusive'. Not the case anymore. The bear community has become the monster it was trying to avoid.

  • Even though this comment is two months old, I must agree that it is sadly different now, not as accepting as much.

  • The bear movement wasn't started to be all inclusive. That side effect happened in the 90's. The bear movement was initially all about being EXCLUSIVE when it first started up back in 87'-88' in San Francisco.

The side effect of it becoming all inclusive is now bears have become what the new clones now. They are the new twinks and the whole purpose and idea of what being a bear was has become completely lost.

  • @BrandonSBCA All I can say is the bear movement is what it is! there are plenty of groups who will accept hairless wonders but for me I want a man with mature male characteristics! For example, a hairy chest! I still can't figure out where smooth guys shoot their cum shots?

  • It depends on where you live. The bear community down here in the south is very much inclusive as long as you don't cop an attitude.

  • olamba

  • Nice vid. Wow!!! Who is the bear at 4:18? What a sexy man!

  • WOOF!

    "Bears snuggly!"

It is confusing to many that the chubby chaser and bear community overlap so much. Bears are big men who may or may not have a tummy. Simply being fat does not make one a bear and not all bears are fat.

  • I really love bears! However,I've got a really point when I say this.... nowadays a bear is just as mainstream gay as a twink or leatherman is. It was sort of an alternative to mainstream gay society but that's not the case anymore. Bears, as hot as they are, are now typical gay mainstream.

  • its sad in this day and age that the measure of a person is what they look like. don't get me wrong, i know that physical attraction is important, but....when it's all said and done, if you can't hold up your end of a conversation...what is there to offer.now that i'm approaching 40, it's amazing how my veiwpoint on what is sexy has become. i guess that is why i've always been atracted to bears....it seems to me that at 206 lbs....bearded,and6'2" i'm way more accepted by bears:-)

  • 3:43 sooo hot.

  • Like the bears in the vid.. I do understand everyone has their own definition of bears I try and stick by the guidelines.. but when u get older guys who call themselves cubs (because of cubbish tendancies) it kind of throws you into a rut.

However, I _will_ say not _all_ bearsa re cuddly and friendly. One asshole proved that when I touched his beard he punched me. Some are self-absorbed and arrogant and some are quite unapproachable. Those sort of people ruin it for other people.

  • GTwolfie...beard touching is like crotch grabbing..you'd better be prepared for a instant consequence if you dare to venture there. If you can't stand the fur get out of the barber shop.

  • 3:54 That guy's 'Woof!' is super hot.

  • Oh c'mon! Why am I getting the thumbs down on my starwars comment?

I mean't that the guy talking resembles George Lucus. Tough crowd!

  • The "Bear community" is just as shallow as the ideals they think they are rebelling against. The only thing it accomplishes is to further stereotypes of gay men; that we identify ourselves by our physical & sexual interests and sex is all we care about. I think it is a very sad commentary on the disservice we do to ourselves, when we feel compelled to turn to external sources and seek a definition of who we are...be an individual!

  • I am an individual, who happens to be a bear and who likes other bears. Since I was age 6 in 1966, I had always wanted to be big, hairy and bearded when I grew up. I was a founding member of Melbourne Ozbears in the 1980s, and we came together because we were rejected with undisguised hatred by the mainstream gay community. Maybe if the gay community really was 'Inclusive' there would not need to be a bear movement!

  • I don't fit within gay cultural norms, either. Yet, I abhor stereotypes & labels, especially the self-imposed kind. The "bear movement" hurts our people just as much as any limp wrist, lisp, or cross dressing can.

  • @badmonkeyjuju1 We all need labels! That is your personal life problem you will have to get over. The "bear movement" in no way, has hurt gay people or the gay movement in general. You sir, miss, bitch are talking out of your AZZ! Give me one example where the bear movement has hurt anybody. Illustrate your answers or the community will think you are ignorant or an evangelical Christian, same thing!!

  • In the end, we are not showing closeted gay men & women who they have the potential to be. Instead we offer caricatures to those who are already uncertain of themselves. Both popular & bear ideals present a superficial view with sex & physical appearance at its core; filling young (& some older) minds with fluff & nonsense and a distorted perception of being gay & how that fits into their lives.

  • and yet..there is a constatn need in "society" and human nature to seek approval on ANY level. Don't fight nature or shame someone for seeking that approval, guys. When you do, you may as well be a televangelist or a Falwellian groupie. LET THEM BE!!

  • I find the bear community to be WAY too cliquey. Just as muchso as the twinks and jocks. I'm not a bear and I found the bear events to be about who you know and how shiny your leather is. Sad, really.

  • quite accurate, and very well said.

  • i've been out since 1993 so i've seen a bit of how the gay community works. amazing really how established in the entire society we homos are, but there is still a lot of internal issues to be resolved. until then, i keep distanced and enjoy company from my own friends without stereotyping and materialistic views of how we are supposed to be as individualistic people. :)

  • great vid mate...Ho shit think i'm a wolf

  • star wars

  • Does this mean bears mostly prefer other bears

  • some bears do but some bears prefer younger more twink type men

  • Those young twink type men that are sexually attracted to bears are called chasers/admirers. Technically admirers are the ones that go after bears and chasers are the ones that go after chubby guys, hence chubby chaser. Chasers and admirers tend to be lumped together under the chaser label because of the way they look.

  • @kekurike Like anything else, some do some don't. I love bears but I have a few otter friends as well. Prefer to have sex with a man with a hairy chest. Just MY fetish!

  • BOO BOOS!!!! I love you Carlos.

  • Interesting. So what is a wolf?

  • I would think an older skinnier man. Not really sure though....

  • otter!!

  • young Bears without weight

  • Wouldn't that be otter.

  • It is an aggressive otter.
