I dont really know what the journalists point is...or many of the posters here. psychiatry cant cure mental illness as there is no cure. much like clinical genetics cannot cure downs syndrome and neurology cannot cure parkinsons or alzheimers. so to say psychiatry is a farce is much like saying we should abandon any assistance for those with genetic or neurological disorders or any other incurable illness for that matter. the purpose of psychiatry for now is to improve quality of life, not cure.
Psychiatry is far from perfect; but the CCHR are just vicariously living out L. Ron Hubbard's frustration upon having his book "Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health" rejected as pseudo-science in the field of mental health.
NOT JUST SCIENTOLOGY , MANY DIFFERENT ORGANISATIONS ARE AGAINST PSYCHIATRY,INCLUDING MANY MEDICAL PERSONNELS . PSYCHIATRY IS NOT JUST A SCAM, IT'S DANGEROUS TO MIND AND BODY .
Multiple diseases often co-exist in a single client. Co-existing disorders, commonly termed Dual Diagnosis, can be identified during the evaluation process.
"Recovery Resources North Palm Beach Florida"
multiple dual billing disorder disease? dual diagnosis is the disease !
what jerk made up the waxy flexy or the sandwich speech one.
simply they fix nothing. you ask and they tell you.
any jerk that wants to go into this neurology model bullshit they cany hack that becoming a real doctor is hard. Oh, yeah you get the dress like one. read your little dsm like a bible. then go after babies, foster kids, the elderly, and basically you think your superior too.
This is the reason I'm going into neurology instead, however I do believe that the first psychiatrist to discover the correlation of brain activity/concentration of chemicals etc with actual human behavior will be a legend. What I don't get is if we can correlate behavior and symptoms of all other parts of the body why not the brain?
@Gtrplyr1 because the brain is not responsible for human consciousness. it is the medium by which consciousness is viewed, but not the source of the viewer. that, my friend, is the spirit
toxic psychiatric medications cannot ever cure a patient/person except to maybe cover up underlying emotional issues in a person's life that would be better treated with other forms of treatment
@scooma1 honestly are you really asking this question? Firstly this drug is for schizophrenic patients. If you mean changing their behaviour so they are not wanting to harm themselves or attack their nearest relative because a voice is telling them to do it, then yes, I want them to behave in a more socially acceptable way. Recreational drugs do not reduce distressing auditory hallucinations!!
@johnny1239 ...got themselves into a terrible state. We see less of that now due to improvements in pharmacology. Look at "schizophrenic Heather" on YouTube. Video was filmed in the 1970s. She is severely psychotic. Psychiatrists rarely see cases this bad in the developed world, owing in part to better screening techniques and drugs.
@johnnyx1239 that is the point of reaching a diagnosis and which is why a psychiatrist should do a full body workup with the appropriate imaging if necessary. Secondly nobody in the profession has claimed that anti psychotics is a cure. That is like saying insulin is a cure for diabetes; it is not. Psychiatrists use anti psychotics to treat their symptoms. We know these drugs do work for a lot of people. Kindly refer to the old reports on psychosis from the 1920s. Patients with psychosis in
IBS is a real disorder and I have regained my energy after a very real good treatment with alternative medicine (unlike psychiatry) and have been in a psychiatry for 4 years. Their so called treatment helped me nothing, it ever made my fatigue and muscle problems worse. Thank god we have sane doctors like Dr de Meirleir, one of the few doctors who believe I'm genuinely sick and that it's not "all in my head" like these morons would say.
There's treating of symptoms in the world.. but treating of problems isn't so apparent to me. Is perhaps culture the cause of depression? Living in this disconnected society.
@tien714 you know what is strange about this non existent disorder that can't be scientifically demonstrated yet? When you give these patients the right diet their symptoms goes away!!! The treatment provides the diagnosis. Give anti psychotics to a schizophrenics and they stop hallucinating so they must have been psychotic in the first place.
@drpiddleton And who says that everything the patient showed was a psychotic episode in the first place? Or what if a psychotic episode does exist but is created by a physical illness, which IS possible, then the anti-psychotics would still work, but don't cure the illness that created the psychotic episode.
Perhaps you understand my comparison if I use alcohol dependency as an example. There is no such thing as an ex alcoholic, only a recovering alcoholic. Same thing in psychiatry.
@tien714 and what about conditions like fibromyalgia? Are you going to say those sufferers are not in any physical pain because you cannot test for it under a microscope or do a scan. What about IBS? There is no test for IBS either but millions of people claim to have it.
In the context of saying when it is inappropriate to use the term "cured" i am perfectly justified to to make the comparison with cancer. A psychiatrist would never say "I cured your depression" anymore than a oncologist saying that he has cured their cancer. Just because we can't look at mental health disease under a microscope yet doesn't mean to say it doesn't exist. My ex has a neurological disorder. She had symptoms but her mri scans couldn't pick up anything because it was not sensitive
As this video shows, there are no physical or biological tests to prove a mental illness exists, because they are diagnosed by behavior and the self-report of the patient which psychiatry then stereotypes and stigmatizes as a life-long illness that can not be cured. They can only treat the symptoms, which allows them to keep a patient on the hook for continuing treatment that doesn't work to begin with.
This is a dumb video and doesn't add anything of value at all. How many people are cured of diabetes? How many people are cured of rheumatic arthritis? How many people are cured of ACS. How many pure are cured of cancer? None. An orthopaedic surgeon who performs a knee replacement is not curing osteoarthritis, he is treating the symptoms. In many cases you can only treat a disease as the word cured implies that the patient will be permanently free of this illness. For many people this maybe th
Don't compare cancer, rheumatic arthritis, ACS to "mental disorders". Unlike those actual diseases you can't see "mental disorders" under a microscope now can you?
Just because biological tests don't exist, doesn't mean biological causes don't exist.
For example Autism is diagnosed using behavioural symptoms, such as an 'impairment in social interaction'.
There are also biological theories of autism, yet just because psychiatrists don't use these to diagnose autism, doesn't mean the condition doesn't exist!
I'm only going to say this one more time; I never said these symptoms weren't real. Don't use the DSM because it is not scientific; it was created by a group of psychiatrist who voted it in because remember homosexuality was once in the DSM until they voted it out. I don't want to hear theories I want to hear scientific facts; using theories to diagnose autism? Are you serious? Read your comments first before posting. I can tell you edited your post to take out DSM; LMAO.
@theevil0fscientology You are a moron. It's not psychiatry vs scientology. It's psychiatry vs. God. All psychiatry does is cause problems and terrible drug addictions for people who have little to no problems whatsoever. They systematically brainwash their patients into believing they have severe problems. The only people who would oppose this statement are capitalizing from psychiatry, or already have been hopelessly brainwashed with psychiatric drugs. Psych kills and ruins beautiful lives.
why do they talk to someone like a patient. why do they just need 3 random things and your mentally ill. then have power to comment you. I am starting to get less worried about them except just not given eye contact was a mental illness, or it part of one, as they would say.
Some people are wondering why these questions are asked. I assume it has to do with Psychiatry explaining mental illness is a biological/physical inballance. If that would be true they could prove it with test. But how can you tell someone to take drugs (chemicals) for a mental problem if this "mental problem" is not physical. Of course you have to make it a physical issue. Of course there are extreme cases and those will not be denied but those few cases are not making the real profit.
All one has to do to see how much of a joke and criminal organization psychiatry is is to type in their their drugs and psychosurgery. SSRI's-don't work. Antipsychotics-shrink your brain. Lobotomy, ECT- crimes against humanity. The amount of damage they have done is staggering. They are the mentally ill ones. Seriously. Drugging little kids and the elderly into submission. The evidence is so overwhelming that they have no idea what they are doing it boggles the mind why people still see them.
Psychiatry is a joke, its one of the only professions in the world that gets away with not producing a professional result. Drugging people for life is no solution to anything. So glad Asian isn't as infected by psychiatry and its drugs.
having an unhealthy brain does not mean a person is insane. it is wrong that people persecute and try and shock people who are mentally ill. its the same as persecuting somebody because they have unhealthy bones or an unhealthy liver or lungs. people cannot help when part of there bodies dont function. I think peoples attitudes are pretty disgusting towards ill people.
Here is my opinion. No one can deny that mental illnesses like schizophrenia or bi-polar disorder don't exist. When it comes to things like depression and anxiety, yeah we all feel them but there are cases where depression and anxiety are so strong and overwhelming that they prevent you from functioning, and then they are mentally ill. Are there people who are not mentally ill who go to a psychiatrist? Sure, but this isn't always true and the field is far from a hoax.
They can test for Prolactin levels which if high will indicate the levels of anti-psychotics is too high, this causes depression and can even lead to infertility.
Such a young and igorant video. Haved you cured anyone? How do you test for mental disorders? Really stupid questions with shortsightedness. They dont have a test for Autism either. Its all diagnosed in behavioral observation like almost all mental disorders. Ever heard of Petiti Mal? That cant be tested either or cured either.
Sorry, its not the scitziod test, its the schizoid test. a watered down version can be found through Google search. According to the test I am narcissistic as well as Schizotypal
This test seems like some sort of psychological personality test. That would be consistant, as so called personality disorders, most controversial "mental illnesses" are just set of characteristics deemed unhealthy by autorities. It is interesting why f.e. some people show "shizofrenia-like" traits in personality like in shizoid or shizotypal personalities, and if they seek to change this behaviour help them in therapy. But no drugs can help with it, as it is no sickness
@daPawlak I agree, many mental problems stem from the un natural environment we have created for ourselves. the 9-5 day, the constant electrical bombardment of the brain through wireless, mobile phones, power lines. Many cases of mental break down can be resolved by allowing the subject some time out in a natural environment. psychiatry is too addicted to the idea that drugs cure all. Typical God complex
It all boils down to a simple fact- We have created for ourselves an unnatural environment in which we work rest and play according to a set time scale. this time scale contradicts the way in which the rest of nature governs itself. In doing so we are placing a heavy burden on our natural rhythms and every now and then, our minds seek to free ourselves of this unnatural prison. hence the whole "flipping out", or "going mental". Its all down to the way we live
I was in a psychiatric institute a few years ago. They administered what is called the scitziod test. It consists of a series of about 40 questions, ranging from simple what color is the sky? to today i saw a pink elephant, true or false. They gauge the severity of mental illness on the results. The same test was done independently on the general public, over 60% were found to be mentally ill. all based solely on the scitziod test.
@nicolastuart100 "Psychiatry is a method of social control". That nonsense and typical of the ridiculous propaganda propagated by people wanting to create anti-psych hysteria.
@nicolastuart100 There's no maybe about it, nicolas. I'm not arguing for or against psychiatry, but I am definitely against a proven human rights abusing, criminally convicted cult, using a front groups to lure people who may have legitimate concerns about psychiatry, into a criminal cult. And believe me, that's exactly what they do. Would you be fine supporting the Nazi party, or ignoring so long as they were anti-psych and producing videos like this? Would you be OK with that?
@nicolastuart100 The film is funded and presented by the CCHR. The CCHR is owned and run by The Church of Scientology which has a very anti-psych agenda. The reason Scientology doesn't like psychiatry is because the founder of Scientology. L. Ron Hubbard, begged for psych help and was refused, and when he produced his hilariously awful book, Dianetics, it was quite rightly brandished complete rubbish by reviewers, many of which were psychiatrists. Also, Scientology craves the psychs "customers".
whoever made this video doesn't know much about the nature of psychiatry or what mental illness even means. of course there is no 'cure' to mental abnormality. that would imply that there is a defined state of mental 'normality.'
Non-whites and white trash not smart enough to do real medicine so they become corporate drug dealers. Not one of those mindless morons would cope in a operating theatre. Or even in an emergency room. They are a pack of brainless deadbeats.
Psychiatry has damaged me very badly, these psychiatric drugs iv'e taken over the years, like antipsychotics and ssri's , some have almost killed me others have caused me damage years after stopping them, and not once Have I been warned of the risks by psychiatrists....WHO will give me JUSTICE against these NAZI'S?
yeah sure, they pointed a gun at you forcing you to take the pills. Drink 30 glasses of water, see if it doesnt get you killed too and it was only water.
@adriiPortillo true too much of anything is bad, the the dosages of the drugs I was given were normal dosages
Taking 1 pill of prozac everyday for a few weeks made me violently suicidal, to the point of wanting to cut my wrists and standing on a bridge wanting to jump off it. psychiatric drugs are very dangerous.
Stress and anxiety doesn't have adverse effects on heart pumping and blood pressure?
There is no "normal" human mind, and therefore there can be no "ill" mind. There is only the goal to achieve a state of mind that is at peace with itself. Internal strife is the greatest "imbalance" that any psychiatrist can hope to resolve, and it pretty much exists in everybody.
The question is wrongly formed, how could a physical exam or test prove a mental illness?? physical test or examination to prove or refute a physical illness and you can't use for example a blood test to make diagnosis for a human personality,, so anti psychiatry is a waste of time
HAHAHAAAAA!!! Cardiologists don't cure people of heart attacks, stroke specialists don't cure people with strokes, gastroenterologists don't cure pancreatitis, rheumatologists don't cure arthritis . . . and you know what? NONE of them claim to.
I think this is a very divisive video and I can only imagine that the makers have not really suffered at all in a negative way. Sometimes questions above and about feelings just don't make sense that is life i'm afraid (humanity). Also the psychiatrists on here must be some of the thickest I've seen but I still believe in a few of them.
My problem with this video is the misinformation contained, & more importantly, CCHR. Supporting the CCHR/Scientology in their very transparent , deliberately misleading, anti-psychiatry campaign, is akin to supporting Hitler if he had an anti-smoking campaign, but completely ignoring the fact that Hitler is a disputable human being who murdered & tortured millions of innocent people. Hey, but that would be OK for a hypocrite cos Hitler's batting the tobacco manufacturers!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@TheEvil0fScientology Nice ad hominem. Scientologists are weird--and yes, I agree--so therefore they can't make any sense whatsoever. Attack the evidence they present, not their characters. Spoken like a true psychiatrist, "I don't have to listen to your criticism, you're nuts! Here are some pills."
There is no mental illness, psychiatry is a HOAX of the Big Farma. There is No prove that chemical unbalance in the brain cuses depression or any other mental health state.
Psychiatry existst just and alone of the Big Farma. The prescribe 2 out of 5 children with Rialin, a hard drug, in the USA and many more adults with very addictive anti-depressants. Drugs will supress the symptoms, it'll never heal the patient. People diagnosed with schizoprenia will never heal by the drugs they get,
fuck the interviewer. If a person sees hallucinations, he/she is schizophrenic. A person has a mental illness diagnosed based upon their symptoms, and medication has been proved to help people.
you want a cure for mentall illness?; food, organic foods. eating healthy organic foods is the cure. how do i know becuz i cured my self by eating healthy foods.
This is utter crap! Just because there isn't a 'test' that psychiatrists use, doesn't mean that there isn't a biological basis for a mental illness. In science, you can never be 100% sure of anything and 'mental illness' is a far too broad thing to ask !! Mental Illness is as much a philosophical concept as a scientific one.
It has been deceptively edited to disprove psychiatry. Sure, there are problems, but the brain is THE most complex organ we know of... "diseases" of the brain are also extremely complex problem. Its like asking a philosopher or biologist "what is life" and then get annoyed when they can't give an easy answer. Also lack of biological test does not mean lack of biological basis...
How was it edited exactly? It's a simple question and they couldn't answer it and thats it. There is no test and no proof and I'm not saying that problems don't exist but for psychiatrist to label it to prescribe medication is a just plain wrong. If what your saying is true than how can psychiatrist diagnose people than? Back up your crap.
I agree with you partly, what we label as a mental illness isn't due to scientific criteria- for example homosexaulity was once in the DSM. Having seen relatives with dementia, and visiting a mental hospital, I find scientology's view on psychiatry to be absolutely offensive. Its like somebody saying your mum's cancer isn't a disease. The video is right that biological tests aren't always used, but just read my first comment to see what that means... cluck all!
No said we don't have emotional distress or issues; I have family members with mental health problems too. The second thing is don't compare cancer with these mental disorders because it is not the same thing; with cancer you can ran a medical test to prove that someone has it unlike mental disorders and cancer is an actual disease. Biological test aren't always used? Which ones exist? There aren't any. Please make some sense.
Psychiatrists use "symptoms" to diagnose someone with, say, Autism spectrum disorders like:
"qualitative impairment in social interaction, as manifested by at least two of the following:
1. marked impairments in the use of multiple nonverbal behaviors such as eye-to-eye gaze..." From DSM IV
Just because psychiatrist dont use biological tests, doesn't mean biological causes don't exist. There are plenty of biological theories of autism... they aren't used in diagnosis though.
The tooth fairy exist also. Don't the DSM because it is not backed up by science. Doctors also use "symptoms" to diagnose someone with cancer; that is how you sound like. Doctors don't use biological test because there aren't any. Using theories to diagnose someone is not ideal.
What??? If you actually want to educate yourself read:
"Madness Explained: Psychosis and Human Nature" - Bentall.
Doctors use symptoms all the time, you know you've got a cold when you've got a cough, sore throat, etc... the only thing psychiatrists don't have is a thermometer for colds, biological test used to diagnose an illness. Do you expect scientists to crack open your skull to find where the depression is and cut it out?
Do not compare a cold to a mental disorder you uneducated fool. With a cold you can use thermometer to measure it but what about mental disorders? Biological test are the very tools needed to diagnose someone so don't leave that part out. If you can't prove it scientifically than don't label a condition just to make a profit out of it.
Read a book before you comment on youtube videos. I don't know what your beef is, are you a scientologist?
Which mental disorders are not valid I ask? I'm not saying I believe everything psychaitrists do, that's silly, but what's your problem? There are physical affects when people have autism spectrum disorders, or have depression. Its just much easier to use behavioral smyptoms to diagnose patients.
No one said these symptoms and behavioral don't exist. What medical test are available for mental disorders? Why are you getting confrontational? Behavioral symptoms are not accurate; depression can be caused by something else. You don't have enough proof for anything.
There is plenty of evidence that people with autism have different brains, just look at the research done by Baron-Cohen (Borat's cousin). Its just a lot easier (and cheaper) not to scan every child's brain but to use the pretty reliable behavioural symptoms. If you think there is NO evidence then you just need to read a book.
I'm sorry are you a scientist? Nope. There is plenty of evidence that some mental diseases are caused by changes in brain function, what else are they caused by? You say that i need to be educated, im studying this at university. Your some scientologist, I hesitate to use the words "brainwashed"!
I don't agree with psychiatrist and drugs, however I have no interests in scientology. You have to have proof in order to at least diagnose if you don't have that than you have no business diagnosing people. These are not mental diseases; a disease is like cancer and aids/hiv. If your studying this at the university then you're being brainwashed.
Well that's the crux of your arguement: you don't like psychiatrists. ITs not a scientific point, you are not trained as a biological/psychological scientist, there is a lot fo proof that people are mentally ill- go to a mental home and see for yourself! See the research! I'm not saying I support all things psychiatry does, for example the medication of children with ADHD, but not ALL psychiatry is bad!
I don't agree with psychiatrist and drugs because there is no science behind it. I never said these "illnesses" don't exist; I'm talking about medical test and chemical test. Something to prove that it is there not by looking at behavior as proof. Psychiatrist do receive kickbacks from big pharma.
What mental disorder is there not evidence that biological factors underpin it?
The psychiatrists are saying that there isn't a biological test which is 100% accurate... not that biological factors don't underpin mental disease. Also depends which "disorders" we are talking about!
Biological tests aren't really used at all to my knowledge and according to what these say. The Brain is far to complicated to create an objective "test" to recognise disease, it is not like cancer or a broken arm in that respect. But that doesn't mean diseases of the brain aren't real...
What biological test exist? They aren't diseases and I never said they weren't real. If you can't test it and you can't see it than it would be hard to diagnose. You just keep digging yourself into a deeper hole the more you respond.
@TheEvil0fScientology This video doesn't have anything to do with Scientology. If you want there to be a video asking scientologists the validity of their beliefs, please do.
@fraserrotchford Yes it does. CCHR is a Scientology front group. Scn wants to eradicate psychiatry for no other reason that to have their business. They also pimp the cult's anti-drug, detox system & other front group, Narconon.
Psychiatry isn't perfect by any means (no medical field is) & I'm not here defend it, however what it doesn't need is criminally convicted (proven) lying (proven) human rights abusing (proven) hate group like Scn spreading deliberate lies & misinformation about it.
The test? Analysing one person from what the psychiatrist believes is the normal function. Previous tests have been conducted to prove of physical mental illnesses that exist.
To TheEvilOfScientology, the millions who've benefited from Scientology know very well how exact are the gains, and these states were arrived at with an enormous amount of research and development. Your hatred almost melts my computer screen! There is no criminal element to Scientology as you know very well. If you make a close review of anything you've done that you wouldn't want Scientology to know about you may feel a lot better about us! Go and do some good in the world.
The whole concept of psychiatry was developed well before 1900 in Germany to get rid of people complaining. The first use of directed energy weapons can be recognized in psychiatric literature from 1908. You find it in chapter Psychiatrie-->Klinik der Narkolepsie on my homepage. During the NAZI time this concept was given up as Germany just murdered oponents. It was relaunched directly after the war to persecute and silence concentration camp survivors.
hat do you mean by cured? how about a cure of no longer having your heads being cramed up peoples asses so you can make money and oppress your fellow man. badda boom!! how many people have they tortured... millions.
there are no cures or tests but there sure is a lot of money to be made by the drug companies and doctors who are prescribing the drugs to the mentally ill and who are being forced to take the drugs that are toxic to the diagnosed mentally ill; a lot of money.
@TheEvil0fScientology Regardless of who is behind CCHR, it is the INFORMATION you should look at, not the person/group that provides the information. I'm not a scientologist even though you'll probably label me as such. I'm a psychology student. The information presented is accurate. There are NO tests to check for 'mental illness'. The 'chemical imbalance' theory has zero evidence to support it. Psychiatry and psychiatric drugs have not cured anyone, but they have done a lot of damage.
@Ragnarok187@Ragnarok187 I'm not arguing the psychiatry is perfect, not a single medical profession on the planet is, and I support any person.organisation that works to highlight any abuses/mistakes in any profession, however where CCHR is concerned, it has been proved time and time again that they lie, cheat, and distort facts purposely. There is not a single person in this video that says there is absolutely no biological/physical evidence for mental illness, watch it with more care.
You are incorrect; there is research that shows a possible relationship between a chemical imbalance and certain forms of mental disease. I am not a proponent of psychiatry or the abuse of psychiatric drugs in some cases, however, making blanket statements such as "psychiatry & psychiatric drugs have not cured anyone" is at best ignorant, and at worst, a deliberate and outright lie. Remove psychiatry & psychiatric drugs and you will condemn millions to their deaths. Maybe that will please you?
@TheEvil0fScientology Psychiatry and psychiatric medications are the CAUSE of thousands of deaths. These are not 'diseases' nor 'illnesses'. Please, cite me just one study that shows there to be a 'chemical imbalance'. Tell me just one single test that can check for any such imbalance. These are SUBJECTIVE tests, not medical tests. They use questionnaires, not tests. If psych drugs had CURED any mental illness, people would not still be taking these drugs.
@Ragnarok187 "Psychiatry and psychiatric medications are the CAUSE of thousands of deaths." You might be right, I don't know much about it. But I will say that I know a couple of people whom psychiatry and medication seem to have helped a great deal.
@MrGazamatron I've known a few that have been apparently helped by them too. But there are studies that show for example anti-depressants to be no more effective than placebo. So there is the very real possibility that it was the placebo effect that helped them, not the drugs. And placebo's have no side effects, like suicide. Psychiatric labels don't help. They categorize, stigmatize and separate. People often become their labels even if they weren't what they were initially labeled as.
@TheEvil0fScientology A cure means the disease or illness is gone. Taking drugs for the rest of a persons life is not a cure. That's a treatment, and an ineffective one if they must continue to take the drugs. If a person has cancer, they get kemotherapy (sorry can't spell it). When they are CURED of cancer, they stop taking the treatment. If they continue the treatment, it is not yet cured. If psychiatry had cured say depression, people would be off the drugs. They aren't, therefore, not cured.
@TheEvil0fScientology I don't agree with scientology, but the facts presented by CCHR are at least 80-90% accurate. I have watched it, and I've done the research outside of that which CCHR has done. The evidence points to the fact that psychiatry is based on lies and pseudoscience. There is no evidence to support the 'chemical imbalance' theory. There is no evidence to support any so called 'mental illnesses'. There are no tests to check for any of these illnesses or any 'imbalance'.
@Ragnarok187 What do you think mental illnesses are? Take schizophrenia and alzheimer's, for example. How would you refer to them if not as mental illnesses, and what might cause them?
@MrGazamatron They aren't illnesses, nor diseases. The 'chemical imbalance' theory was just that, a theory. There has never been any supporting evidence. No tests to check for any such imbalance. Alzheimer's is more physical deterioration of the brain, often with age. Schizophrenia is somewhat more complicated. You need to look outside psych and into quantum physics to understand that one. As for the causes they are 'problems in living' as Szasz said, and by exposure to a 'toxic environment'.
"You need to look outside psych and into quantum physics to understand that one. As for the causes they are 'problems in living' as Szasz said, and by exposure to a 'toxic environment'." Have you found proof to support that? I'm not saying you're wrong, and I'm sure many mental issues are results of problems in life, but I don't imagine that to be the cause of all 'mental illnesses.' I suppose it also depends on how one defines an illness.
@MrGazamatron Yup I have found proof of what I said, or I wouldn't have said it. Alzheimer's for example, can happen naturally from age, it can also be cause by a toxic environment. Our water supplies are now days being fluoridated. Look up fluoride. And in the US and other parts there are chemtrails which have a large amount of aluminum. Aluminum can bond with fluoride which passes the blood-brain barrier, and may cause alzheimer's and dementia. This is an exposure to a toxic environment.
@Ragnarok187 I see. But is there proof that things like chemtrails and flouride have actually caused cases of alzheimer's and dementia, or is it simply known that they could? And have chemtrails actually been proven to exist? Sorry for all the questions, I'm not expecting you to know everything lol.
I'm not talking about alzheimer's here, but if someone developed a mental problem as a result of toxins in their environment, why would you not consider it an illness?
@MrGazamatron Google 'fluoride +aluminum'. They can produce it, not saying they always or 100% will. And uhh, yes chemtrails have been proven to exist. If you're in the US go outside and look up. Those long white lines in the sky are chemtrails, not clouds. You can even see them in some movies.
If toxins are the cause of an illness it should be under real medicine, where they take real tests, not psychiatry. It may be an illness, but it would be a physical bodily illness, not a mental illness.
@Ragnarok187 I'm in England. Well, all I know about chemtrails is what I just read on wikipedia. Not that wiki is a particularly good source, but I'll have to look into it more to be convinced that they are what proponents of the theory think they are.
@MrGazamatron Chemtrails do exist in places, but surprisingly so many ppl just don't notice them because of all the lies they've been told, they think they don't exist. There are things called contrails which look like white lines trailing a plane. They are ice crystals, and fade in 20-30 seconds. Chemtrails last for 2-3 hours or more. Those crisscrossed lines in the skies are chemtrails, not contrails. Look up "What in the world are they spraying" if you'd like more information about it.
@MrGazamatron In almost all situations of 'mental illness' there can be traced back to a proceeding trauma or difficult experience/situation. Bullying for example can lead to 'social anxiety disorder'. PTSD is caused by a proceeding traumatic experience (war, rape, disasters). Depression has a greater chance of occurring after difficult life situations, such as a partner dying. Each one is generally a result of 'problems in living' or exposure to a 'toxic environment'.
@MrGazamatron If you know someone diagnosed with schizophrenia feel free to send me a private message. You need to understand what it is first off, and it's not what the DSM says. It's a lot more complicated, yet also far more simple than what psychiatry claims it is. Treatment can be trickier, because it depends on the person and what they experience.
Anti-psychotic medications are toxic. They can cause irreversible neurological damage, called Tardive Dyskinesia or Akinesia.
@MrGazamatron There are 374 'mental illnesses' listed in the DSM-IV-TR. There are 4 entries associated with caffeine. If you drink more than 2 cups of coffee a day the DSM defines you as 'mentally ill'. There's also at least one associated with marijuana. If you smoke a joint you have a mental illness... at least for 2-3 hours until the effects wear off. These and far more stupid labels are in the same book as schizophrenia and ADHD. They label behaviours & emotions as an 'illness'.
you people are idiots. psychiatry is in an infantile stage in which each so called "mental illness" is based on a categorization in order to communicate the category of "disorder". all you idiots think ohh disorder that means disease. no dumb shits it means not-in-order, based on the way that certain symptomology effects the physical and mental well bieng of the person. any psychiatrist claiming definitive 100% cure in this critical stage of the developement of neurobiology is a dumbass.
@bmxicaner . Hell, what incompetent fakers, the lot of them!
I just had a great idea: Why not press for legislation that psychiatrists are only allowed to treat each other, other psychiatrist. Starting in the America. And then sit back and see what happens. How about that? Wouldn't that be fun? All who agree say "Yea!!
Or alternatively, Regina Root's book on mexico and the illegality of clothing items combined with the book Black Like Me combined with Terry Willisee's documentary on Megjugorje, sketch out an entirely different scenario and narrative. Meanwhile we hear about yet again another psychiatrist being behind the yugoslavian genocide and Michael Jackson and many other celebrities being ritually sacrificed by the jewish religion of Hollywood
eventually, they'll run away, right? They didn't come back... they must be better. The trick was to make it enough of a societal problem that we were able to bite away from the "control." Who really has a problem with the fact that I have extra senses and am a sociopath? The person who is competing with me. To them, I'm the sickest person on the planet.
A friend of mine was put through psychiatric tyranny after years of abuse at the hands of school teachers, police, military and the general public. His crime was simply being seen wearing a guatemalan poncho. Then he was seen walking his dog at 2. am. That was it! Cue the madness!!
otherwise known as "run, rabbit, run" disease. My own problems were directly caused by the insane pseudo-society i was flaggelated in. The background to further problems diagnosed as psychiatric are intentionally misunderstood, and better described through corporate fascism, land theft and the enclosure movements. There are huge numbers of political activists out there who understand this. Bolshevik Workplace oppression, and Family Law courts and so forth.
psychiatry, the "educated idiots" are a ragtag bunch of freaks.Seriously. Civil war is most likely inevitable over this. Durian fruit and velvet bean have been used successfully for some things.Sorting out the adrenal glands also by diet changes. Each person is different. Another lady treated candida. Other people were misdiagnosed when they were merely deaf. Others are merely ethnic. People from abusive backgrounds. Lots of people have kidney failure,
nothing can be 100% curable. mental illness doctors are here to improve the quality of patients lives who are incapable of living normally.
i feel the need to defend this field. calling psychiatry fraud is calling mental illness a non existent disease. These doctors have done nothing wrong in 'not having cured anyone.'
Even if there is trauma to the brain, and the brain actually IS physically damaged, while those cells can not be repaired, the brain can rewire itself (see coma patients, or whose who have overcome paralysis).
So fact is that psychiatry is a bunch of "educated guessers" who like to force drugs on people. Sure the drugs DO alter brain chemistry... but the question is if it really needed altering in the first place?
The fact that mental illnesses cannot yet be cured is reason to search for a cure to some disease. Psychiatrists do treat patients, improving their lives, however, there isn't yet a pill which will forever cure a patient, forever ensuring that they won't relapse.
YES....Obliterate Psychiatry! That way Scientology can take over the world. We will have our Thetans removed, take vitamins and live happily ever after. Maybe we can use an E meter to diagnose problems?? I'm really excited by all this! If psychiatry is gone then mental illness is gone "poof".....any mental disturbance taken care of by Dianetics!
We know there is not tests for Depression already! It's pretty obvious if a person is sleeping, shy, suicidal, unmotivated etc... There is no need for a test.
@devilraydude76 That's what you've been told, or read so it must be true? Altered behavior causes manifested abnormal neural pathways. None of these so-called sciences have any absolutes, it's all theory which are nothing but rhetoric based on opinion & assumptions, not observable evidence. The proof is in the fact that none of these people have a single case on file where there has been an improved condition much less a cure! JESUS is the Great Physician & the Healer of spirit, mind & body!
This video proves that so-called drs of mental illness from the Psychiatric ward are a bunch of nuts who work on the other side of the lock & ley that separates patients from them. Psychology is in the same boat, in a mire of rhetoric called therapy. There are no tests to prove chemical imbalance because the patient himself dictates what chemicals are in the brain via their outlook. True mental health is patient managed & can't be obtained w/o GOD! Love & Forgiveness thru Jesus is the KEY!
It would be funny if the psychiatrist had a 'mental illness' but I was talking about how retarded he is. Yes I am laughing at a retarded person. They might not actually be retarded but their behavior surely is.
Utterly disingenuous. What on earth does this prove? Most of the video focuses on a guy for whom English is not a first language, and he's asked how many people he's "cured", as if mental illness is a finite illness like a cold.
There are indeed fascinating and important questions around the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric conditions, but this video is unhelpful in the extreme.
Well if you had fucking O.C.D. like I do and your life was turning into hell like mine because of it that what would you do.
When you find an answer tell me, but until then I will go to my Psychiatric, and take drugs that I admit had some sideeffects liek being lightheaded, adn stuff when I started using it, but now that I found something right for me I'll keep using it, and so are millions of other people.
Actually, there's no evidence that the nastiest mental illnesses like bipolar disorder or schizophrenia are anything BUT physical.

What I don't get is if we can correlate behavior and symptoms of all other parts of the body why not the brain?

@scooma1 honestly are you really asking this question? Firstly this drug is for schizophrenic patients. Recreational drugs do not reduce distressing auditory hallucinations!!

@johnnyx1239 that is the point of reaching a diagnosis and which is why a psychiatrist should do a full body workup with the appropriate imaging if necessary. @drpiddleton And who says that everything the patient showed was a psychotic episode in the first place? In the context of saying when it is inappropriate to use the term "cured" i am perfectly justified to to make the comparison with cancer.

They systematically brainwash their patients into believing they have severe problems. The only people who would oppose this statement are capitalizing from psychiatry, or already have been hopelessly brainwashed with psychiatric drugs. Psych kills and ruins beautiful lives.

@binkiie4dictator
But no drugs can help with it, as it is no sickness
daPawlak 7 months ago
@daPawlak I agree, many mental problems stem from the un natural environment we have created for ourselves. the 9-5 day, the constant electrical bombardment of the brain through wireless, mobile phones, power lines. Many cases of mental break down can be resolved by allowing the subject some time out in a natural environment. psychiatry is too addicted to the idea that drugs cure all. Typical God complex
binkiie4dictator 7 months ago
It all boils down to a simple fact- We have created for ourselves an unnatural environment in which we work rest and play according to a set time scale. this time scale contradicts the way in which the rest of nature governs itself. In doing so we are placing a heavy burden on our natural rhythms and every now and then, our minds seek to free ourselves of this unnatural prison. hence the whole "flipping out", or "going mental". Its all down to the way we live
binkiie4dictator 8 months ago
I was in a psychiatric institute a few years ago. They administered what is called the scitziod test. It consists of a series of about 40 questions, ranging from simple what color is the sky? to today i saw a pink elephant, true or false. They gauge the severity of mental illness on the results. The same test was done independently on the general public, over 60% were found to be mentally ill. all based solely on the scitziod test.

TheEvil0fScientology 8 months ago
@nicolastuart100 The film is funded and presented by the CCHR. The CCHR is owned and run by The Church of Scientology which has a very anti-psych agenda. The reason Scientology doesn't like psychiatry is because the founder of Scientology. L. Ron Hubbard, begged for psych help and was refused, and when he produced his hilariously awful book, Dianetics, it was quite rightly brandished complete rubbish by reviewers, many of which were psychiatrists. Also, Scientology craves the psychs "customers".

There is no "normal" human mind, and therefore there can be no "ill" mind. There is only the goal to achieve a state of mind that is at peace with itself. Internal strife is the greatest "imbalance" that any psychiatrist can hope to resolve, and it pretty much exists in everybody.

Also lack of biological test does not mean lack of biological basis...
giac01 4 months ago
@giac01
Back up your crap.
tien714 4 months ago
@tien714
The video is right that biological tests aren't always used, but just read my first comment to see what that means... cluck all!
giac01 4 months ago
@giac01

There are plenty of biological theories of autism... they aren't used in diagnosis though.
giac01 4 months ago
@giac01
The tooth fairy exist also. Don't the DSM because it is not backed up by science. Doctors also use "symptoms" to diagnose someone with cancer; that is how you sound like. Doctors don't use biological test because there aren't any. Using theories to diagnose someone is not ideal.
tien714 4 months ago
@tien714
Do you expect scientists to crack open your skull to find where the depression is and cut it out?
giac01 4 months ago
@giac01

You don't have enough proof for anything.
tien714 4 months ago
@tien714
There is plenty of evidence that people with autism have different brains, just look at the research done by Baron-Cohen (Borat's cousin). Its just a lot easier (and cheaper) not to scan every child's brain but to use the pretty reliable behavioural symptoms. If you think there is NO evidence then you just need to read a book.
giac01 4 months ago
@giac01
Brain scans are not a reliable source; anything can change brain scans. What test are available for people to take? Just read my past post.
tien714 4 months ago
@tien714
I'm sorry are you a scientist? Nope. There is plenty of evidence that some mental diseases are caused by changes in brain function, what else are they caused by? You say that i need to be educated, im studying this at university. Your some scientologist, I hesitate to use the words "brainwashed"!
giac01 4 months ago
@giac01
I don't agree with psychiatrist and drugs, however I have no interests in scientology. You have to have proof in order to at least diagnose if you don't have that than you have no business diagnosing people. These are not mental diseases; a disease is like cancer and aids/hiv. If your studying this at the university then you're being brainwashed.
tien714 4 months ago
@tien714
Well that's the crux of your arguement: you don't like psychiatrists. ITs not a scientific point, you are not trained as a biological/psychological scientist, there is a lot fo proof that people are mentally ill- go to a mental home and see for yourself! See the research! I'm not saying I support all things psychiatry does, for example the medication of children with ADHD, but not ALL psychiatry is bad!
giac01 4 months ago
@giac01
I don't agree with psychiatrist and drugs because there is no science behind it. I never said these "illnesses" don't exist; I'm talking about medical test and chemical test. Something to prove that it is there not by looking at behavior as proof. Psychiatrist do receive kickbacks from big pharma.
tien714 4 months ago
@tien714
What mental disorder is there not evidence that biological factors underpin it?
The psychiatrists are saying that there isn't a biological test which is 100% accurate... not that biological factors don't underpin mental disease. Also depends which "disorders" we are talking about!
giac01 4 months ago
@giac01
I never said there wasn't any evidence. What biological test are available?
tien714 4 months ago
@tien714
Biological tests aren't really used at all to my knowledge and according to what these say. The Brain is far to complicated to create an objective "test" to recognise disease, it is not like cancer or a broken arm in that respect. But that doesn't mean diseases of the brain aren't real...
giac01 4 months ago
@giac01
What biological test exist? They aren't diseases and I never said they weren't real. If you can't test it and you can't see it than it would be hard to diagnose. You just keep digging yourself into a deeper hole the more you respond.

Your hatred almost melts my computer screen! There is no criminal element to Scientology as you know very well. It was relaunched directly after the war to persecute and silence concentration camp survivors.

there are no cures or tests but there sure is a lot of money to be made by the drug companies and doctors who are prescribing the drugs to the mentally ill and who are being forced to take the drugs that are toxic to the diagnosed mentally ill; a lot of money.
highmountain0 1 year ago
@TheEvil0fScientology Regardless of who is behind CCHR, it is the INFORMATION you should look at, not the person/group that provides the information. I'm not a scientologist even though you'll probably label me as such. I'm a psychology student. The information presented is accurate. There are NO tests to check for 'mental illness'. The 'chemical imbalance' theory has zero evidence to support it. Psychiatry and psychiatric drugs have not cured anyone, but they have done a lot of damage.
Ragnarok187 1 year ago
@Ragnarok187 @Ragnarok187 I'm not arguing the psychiatry is perfect, not a single medical profession on the planet is, and I support any person.organisation that works to highlight any abuses/mistakes in any profession, however where CCHR is concerned, it has been proved time and time again that they lie, cheat, and distort facts purposely. There is not a single person in this video that says there is absolutely no biological/physical evidence for mental illness, watch it with more care.
TheEvil0fScientology 1 year ago
You are incorrect; there is research that shows a possible relationship between a chemical imbalance and certain forms of mental disease. I am not a proponent of psychiatry or the abuse of psychiatric drugs in some cases, however, making blanket statements such as "psychiatry & psychiatric drugs have not cured anyone" is at best ignorant, and at worst, a deliberate and outright lie. Remove psychiatry & psychiatric drugs and you will condemn millions to their deaths. Maybe that will please you?
TheEvil0fScientology 1 year ago
@TheEvil0fScientology Psychiatry and psychiatric medications are the CAUSE of thousands of deaths. These are not 'diseases' nor 'illnesses'. Please, cite me just one study that shows there to be a 'chemical imbalance'. Tell me just one single test that can check for any such imbalance. These are SUBJECTIVE tests, not medical tests. They use questionnaires, not tests. If psych drugs had CURED any mental illness, people would not still be taking these drugs.
Ragnarok187 1 year ago
@Ragnarok187 "Psychiatry and psychiatric medications are the CAUSE of thousands of deaths." You might be right, I don't know much about it. But I will say that I know a couple of people whom psychiatry and medication seem to have helped a great deal.
MrGazamatron 1 year ago
@MrGazamatron I've known a few that have been apparently helped by them too. But there are studies that show for example anti-depressants to be no more effective than placebo. So there is the very real possibility that it was the placebo effect that helped them, not the drugs. And placebo's have no side effects, like suicide. Psychiatric labels don't help. They categorize, stigmatize and separate. People often become their labels even if they weren't what they were initially labeled as.
Ragnarok187 1 year ago
@TheEvil0fScientology A cure means the disease or illness is gone. Taking drugs for the rest of a persons life is not a cure. That's a treatment, and an ineffective one if they must continue to take the drugs. If a person has cancer, they get kemotherapy (sorry can't spell it). When they are CURED of cancer, they stop taking the treatment. If they continue the treatment, it is not yet cured. If psychiatry had cured say depression, people would be off the drugs. They aren't, therefore, not cured.
Ragnarok187 1 year ago
@TheEvil0fScientology I don't agree with scientology, but the facts presented by CCHR are at least 80-90% accurate. I have watched it, and I've done the research outside of that which CCHR has done. The evidence points to the fact that psychiatry is based on lies and pseudoscience. There is no evidence to support the 'chemical imbalance' theory. There is no evidence to support any so called 'mental illnesses'. There are no tests to check for any of these illnesses or any 'imbalance'.
Ragnarok187 1 year ago
@Ragnarok187 What do you think mental illnesses are? Take schizophrenia and alzheimer's, for example. How would you refer to them if not as mental illnesses, and what might cause them?
MrGazamatron 1 year ago
@MrGazamatron They aren't illnesses, nor diseases. The 'chemical imbalance' theory was just that, a theory. There has never been any supporting evidence. No tests to check for any such imbalance. Alzheimer's is more physical deterioration of the brain, often with age. Schizophrenia is somewhat more complicated. You need to look outside psych and into quantum physics to understand that one. As for the causes they are 'problems in living' as Szasz said, and by exposure to a 'toxic environment'.
Ragnarok187 1 year ago
@Ragnarok187 Thanks for your replies.
MrGazamatron 1 year ago
@MrGazamatron Yup I have found proof of what I said, or I wouldn't have said it. Alzheimer's for example, can happen naturally from age, it can also be cause by a toxic environment. Our water supplies are now days being fluoridated. Look up fluoride. And in the US and other parts there are chemtrails which have a large amount of aluminum. Aluminum can bond with fluoride which passes the blood-brain barrier, and may cause alzheimer's and dementia. This is an exposure to a toxic environment.
Ragnarok187 1 year ago
@Ragnarok187 I see. But is there proof that things like chemtrails and flouride have actually caused cases of alzheimer's and dementia, or is it simply known that they could? And have chemtrails actually been proven to exist? Sorry for all the questions, I'm not expecting you to know everything lol.
I'm not talking about alzheimer's here, but if someone developed a mental problem as a result of toxins in their environment, why would you not consider it an illness?
MrGazamatron 1 year ago
@MrGazamatron Google 'fluoride +aluminum'. They can produce it, not saying they always or 100% will. And uhh, yes chemtrails have been proven to exist. If you're in the US go outside and look up. Those long white lines in the sky are chemtrails, not clouds. You can even see them in some movies.
If toxins are the cause of an illness it should be under real medicine, where they take real tests, not psychiatry. It may be an illness, but it would be a physical bodily illness, not a mental illness.
Ragnarok187 1 year ago
@Ragnarok187 I'm in England. Well, all I know about chemtrails is what I just read on wikipedia. Not that wiki is a particularly good source, but I'll have to look into it more to be convinced that they are what proponents of the theory think they are.
MrGazamatron 1 year ago
@MrGazamatron Chemtrails do exist in places, but surprisingly so many ppl just don't notice them because of all the lies they've been told, they think they don't exist. There are things called contrails which look like white lines trailing a plane. They are ice crystals, and fade in 20-30 seconds. Chemtrails last for 2-3 hours or more. Those crisscrossed lines in the skies are chemtrails, not contrails. Look up "What in the world are they spraying" if you'd like more information about it.
Ragnarok187 1 year ago
@MrGazamatron In almost all situations of 'mental illness' there can be traced back to a proceeding trauma or difficult experience/situation. Bullying for example can lead to 'social anxiety disorder'. PTSD is caused by a proceeding traumatic experience (war, rape, disasters). Depression has a greater chance of occurring after difficult life situations, such as a partner dying. Each one is generally a result of 'problems in living' or exposure to a 'toxic environment'.
Ragnarok187 1 year ago
@Ragnarok187 Out of interest, do you have any opinions regarding the kind of help and treatment a schizophrenic should receive?
MrGazamatron 1 year ago
@MrGazamatron If you know someone diagnosed with schizophrenia feel free to send me a private message. You need to understand what it is first off, and it's not what the DSM says. It's a lot more complicated, yet also far more simple than what psychiatry claims it is. Treatment can be trickier, because it depends on the person and what they experience.
Anti-psychotic medications are toxic. They can cause irreversible neurological damage, called Tardive Dyskinesia or Akinesia.
Ragnarok187 1 year ago
@Ragnarok187 "If you know someone diagnosed with schizophrenia feel free to send me a private message." I don't, but that's nice of you.
MrGazamatron 1 year ago
@MrGazamatron There are 374 'mental illnesses' listed in the DSM-IV-TR. There are 4 entries associated with caffeine. If you drink more than 2 cups of coffee a day the DSM defines you as 'mentally ill'. There's also at least one associated with marijuana. If you smoke a joint you have a mental illness... at least for 2-3 hours until the effects wear off. These and far more stupid labels are in the same book as schizophrenia and ADHD. They label behaviours & emotions as an 'illness'.

The flu, an infection, etc can be cured 100%.

None of these so-called sciences have any absolutes, it's all theory which are nothing but rhetoric based on opinion & assumptions, not observable evidence. The proof is in the fact that none of these people have a single case on file where there has been an improved condition much less a cure!
