nice model but a scenario would have been appreciated, going through a deck, stopping in a could room, changing deck in the turbolift (at least its shaft), visiting the bridge, ... all the stuff I'd like to do if I had the VRML file.
@DynVec I'm sorry - I know how you feel - it would be great to wander around the ship... check out @Havoc92 's work in progress too... we're both working on a virtual enterprise...
@HermionePinklady Thanks for watching! I created a database to track wall details (straight corridors & ringwalls), like doors and windows. I wrote Visual Basic programs to create the VRML text files from the details. I wrote VRML Prototypes in Javascript to make the working doors, control panels, and turbolifts. I didn't use a 3D modeling program, but I am trying to learn how to build all the stuff they have under the hood.
@brookestephen well german isn't my language so i can't respect yer wish...! in fact the graphic resolution yer pc has is very old-fashioned. sry dude but crap is crap
@RichardSalzmann Dude! You're dissing me! That's great news! Here I thought you were just some kind of savant... you live in Germany but don't speak German, and you're on YouTube but you've submitted no videos... Rather than ask for an explanation for the poor resolution for the video, you decided to diss me!
I'm still waitin for a sale at IKEA on bedroom (or in this case "cabin") furnishings.
And what kind of nick-nacks should you have in a spaceship cabin? I was thinking of TIKI Lamps... window blinds for the portholes (do they call them portholes?)
Yes, I've thought about it, making the TNG ship, but my problem with that is that I just can't make sense out of either of the two sets of existing blueprints for the Enterprise D.
While watching TNG, we never got to see very much of the inside of the ship - there was a great deal that we didn't see.
Why don't you take a look at the deckplans and let me know what you think?
i think it would be interesting if you could create/record flight paths, then replay them - i mean flight paths of the cameras, not of the enterprise :) though you could probably use it for both :)
I'll look into that - I know the quality is low with these, realtime screen capture recorded with something free, with huge vrml files, the rendering engine and the recording software fighting for Windows resources.
But I've been doing this in realtime - most other graphics packages require long rendering sessions to capture animation - one frame at a time - into huge files.
Hi Stephen, I LOVE IT !!!! Which is an understatement....
I would like to discuss a potential fun use for the 3D model.
Regards, Sander

if you think about it, there are alot of weak spots on the enterprise, most specifically the extremely thin neck.
But overall, pretty cool.

you haven't mention if the file is available (and where). btw, you can create an animated object and put a camera on it with VRML.

wow, nice job.
did you code the entire wrl file yourself or did you use a 3D program to model it?

BEWM MEH UP SHKOTEEH!
Nice replica though.
Never know the use of all those rooms since there's only about 5 people on the ship at a time.
