@JONAMELE he didn't die, he came back in the season finale. He was floating on a piece of driftwood and he was the reason they got off the island cause he knew how to fly the plane.

I reckon the title of the episode was a bit of a trick to make us believe that the only significance that it had was regarding Locke in hospital for the new surgery, BUT at the very end of the episode, taking into consideration what Sayid said, the candidate has go to be Jack.

Well Sayid did tell Jack, "Because it's going to be you Jack" so it could ilude to jack becoming jacob's ultimate candidate like you said so that was what I gathered from the episode. Oh and I think Sawyer is still a candidate I think.

I think they told us who is the candidate. I mean, Sayid did, like you said, he says "It's gonna be you". And the episode is "The Candidate". They told us something with that phrase.

Besides the episode is "Jack centric". And (this is going to sound fool) Jack's name is very similar to "Jacob". I think there is no doubt about that :D

@ninjawillow i agree with you i never liked charlie, mind you didn't mean i wanted him dead but it never affected me when he died. I think Juliet and jin and sun's death were much more depressing. plus we got to know them better then charlie.
