  • I'm from southen Philippines. I really don't know the origins of Silat but I met a Silat master from Sulu Island (southern Philippines). He gave us a demo at our MK headquarters. A very humble and skillful master. He said he learned it from his father. Sulu Island is near Borneo. Mabuhay po Kayo.

  • @predatorzi Our Indonesian nation feel proud of our diversity. not like you are only able to denounce the diversity of our country, Indonesia. your country does not have a diverse culture like Indonesia, then you envious with the diversity of Indonesian culture. your country is truly pathetic. Batik is Indonesian-owned, owned reog Indonesia, Indonesia's Angklung is, and what else would you admit of Indonesian culture?

  • @TheKusumahari I'm indonesian too, but you're way too arrogant.

  • @TheKusumahari why the fuck are you use the word '' diverse '' so much??

  • Silat with Bladed Weapons excel in the Malay Islands known as the Philippines , All throughout history the Great Malay Warriors from all the distant Islands have come to know that with the Kris or with the Kampilan or Barung Sundang

  • silat originally from indonesia,, not from malaysia, philipine, vietnam, etc.

  • @TheKusumahari well who cares coz indonesians can't stop claiming things to be theirs. LOOOL. even in batik, they claim it theirs but it is a worldwide clothing and not owned by anyone. so pathetic.

  • @predatorzi I dont agree with kusumahari, but about batik she is right...batik is indonesian heritage, you can check it at UNESCO, but the most important is every one can wear batik if they want to @coolwateerdvr ...if you think deeply things that we call: Indonesia,Malaysia,Philippine,Brunei are just modern day administrative country, many years ago while there are no borders that erect this countries ALL OF US IS THE SAME, thats why we can see silat in these countries.

  • look at that, there are pinoy and viet fighter

  • this doesn't look like silat, i guess there is a big difference in traditional silat compared to the silat most ppl do

  • soon i have to try pencak silat,i admire this type of martial arts

  • vidéo is nice but that s not legal to use that kind of music....

  • haha gelo bagus bagus!!

  • These guys hv the FASTEST KICKS in the WORLD no doubt and no questions asked !!

  • I like Jollie Bee girls at 2:58 Joke joke joke! ;)

  • silat should go olimpic stage!!!!

  • i admire this martial art. the way traditional Asian tribes fight or combat. tribal martial arts at its best. now fully embraced by the world and accepted as a formidable fighting art.

by the way, what's the name of the music track being played here?

  • One fact that you can't dispute Silat is definitely one of the most effective and dangerous styles. i got nailed with a half python and i definitely took a bad one on my jaw.

  • Take no thought of who is right or wrong or who is better than. Be not for or against.

  • Man, the living creature, the creating individual, is always more important than any established style or system.

  • Excuse me, could someone explain the rules of silat competitions?

  • THUMB UP IF U THINK SILAT SHOULD GO INTO OLYMPICS!!

  • song please?

  • This looks know different then semi contact karate tournament fighting The fighting begins to look completely amateur and sloppy. Like unskilled street fighters .

  • @TheChiFlows - semi contact karate only looks sharp because it's SEMI-CONTACT!!!any full contact fighting has can look a bit sloppy at times.

anyway it appears that semi contact is for people like you and full contact for people like me

  • @isitcosimwhite-- Reread what i wrote .Nothing was written about semi contact looking sharp . And i suggest you keep your limited martial arts abilities to yourself .You where not asked to make any statement pertaining to what a tuff guy you think you are in your own small mind .Those that talk shit can't do shit !.

  • Comment removed

  • @isitcosimwhite---- Why are YOU?.

  • @TheChiFlows - that's a very poor come back, i feel sorry for you

  • @isitcosimwhite-- Feel whatever you like !. .Your an ignorant PUTZ, with the mentality of a child I would suggest ,that next time you attempt to make any kind of intelligent comment. First learn how to read and write the English language .

  • @TheChiFlows - hahaha is that the best you can come up with? again a very poor comeback, not worthy of my superior being, as a matter of fact you're not even worth all the key strokes I have to make for this response - so bye bye idiot

  • @isitcosimwhite-- Hahahaha,,superior being ,Thats a joke . The only thing thats superior about you ,Is your ignorance and the fact that you think your a martial artist

.Your a CLOWN . Who needs a strong lesson in humility that i would love to give you .

  • @TheChiFlows - ok let's have it then - if you're such a tough guy and i', such a clown, let's do it. hey i'll even wear a clown's suit while i kick your behind

  • @TheChiFlows - man, you are sending me pesonal messages now!! I take it is because you have not enough self esteem and confidence to take me on in front of everyone. But hey, don't worry about it, I understand, I knew you were a loser from your first comment. If you're such an accomplished martial artist, what's happened to controlling your inner self? The arts you claim to have been practicing are all fancy display arts, none proven winning styles. Oh and well done on your spelling!! :)

  • @isitcosimwhite- You really have half a brain . If you where an adult you'd have appreciated & understood why i sent a personal message . But i see your a complete idiot who has to put his noise out there to make himself feel like a man . And at the same time make himself look like the child he truly is .Anyone here can see right through you .Your a sad excuse for a human being .Grow the fuck up ,all you've shown me is your an ignorant loud mouth dirt bag. And a braggart coward .

  • @TheChiFlows give it a rest, do yourself a favour

  • @TheChiFlows - now now - mind your language, so far I've been pretty courteous in the language used, why do you feel it necessary to start using foul language?? There are kids using this site you know. You have lost your temper and self control; behave yourself please

  • no matter where ever silat from..

enough for we all knew that silat was the best!

    btw,cool video.!.5* !

  • I never saw a silat combat before , just heard of. The fighters are really fast with their kicks! Also the woman-fights are really interesting!

    OSu from a karate-fighter

  • @Xberto83 yeah, look at the female fighter , she was bleeding but keep smiling and continued her fight @2:46 >.<

  • Silat exist since thousand years ago in thousand islands of Indonesia. This is native self-defense being the martial-art. Silat was created in that Equator Islands for sure,

  • i'm LO Belgium Team in World Championship 2007 at kuantan, Malaysia.. I Miss U all Belgium Team..

  • hey, i need the soundtrack of this video.. . rply asap. thnx

  • TheChiFlows, perhaps your teacher doesn't learn pencak silat by practicing but only theory or only boasting about it. please do not underestimate pencak silat. you are please to come to Indonesia to see the real pencak silat is. you can even ask the jeet Kune Do or other martial art instructor to come along with you.

  • correction.silat is a malaysian fighting style.

  • @Aydee2020

go back to ur cave and read the silat history. silat is indigenous to the malay peninsula where most countries in southeast asia belongs to. forms of silat is very muched practiced in southern philippines. instead of sowing brotherhood, ur comments are sowing hatred.. but it only shows how ignorant you are...

  • thats what i say you fuckface

  • hahaha... ur language speaks about your breeding...

i said pencak silat is the martial art of the MALAY PENINSULA ( that is.. the entire malay archipelago which includes Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Philippines and Souther Thailand) and not just of MALAYSIA. The Malay Archipelago isnt synonimous with Malaysia...

who is the fuckface now? or are u aware you are???

  • nope,u still the fuckface.the history books didnt mention thailand being included in the malay archipelago.not even the southern part of it

  • hahaha..

now u agree that Malaysia is not the only country in the Malay Archepelago ( that shows some improvement in ur IQ)

i wd suggest that if ur doin silat u ask ur teacher about this. Ur from Singapore.. ask PERSISI about this..

and with regards to being a fuckface hahaha i will just leave that up to u to say that to any person u like( including me) hahaha

after all we all know who really that fuckface is

    Hormat

  • and yep thats you...

  • whatever tough guy

    hahaha

  • @kulimman82 i fucking knew that you fucking douchebag.i mean like even a child would.it borders kelantan.but you know what?you fucking faggot know shit about demonyms.if you have a citizenship of thailand and you are of a similar race,YOU ARE A FUCKING SIAMESE!!!!!!!

  • @cbusilat correct, the word `malaysia` only express that: `we are malays` and thats it, while malays as race spread along: central and southern philippine, singapore, indonesia, malaysia, southern vietnam (former champa kingdom region) and southern thailand(especially yala and fattani province)

  • @MrSolitude14 spot on!

  • @cbusilat agree po ako jan! peace from team zamboanga!

  • @cbusilat silat is indonesian based every1. it orignated from wat is now indonesia, its not asian or chinese or japanese.

  • @babyface0514 so u saying indonesia is not part of asia

  • no offense but i really dislike these sort of competitions where you do kinda pointless stuff (in a real fight) and get points from it :S

  • well actually u have a point there... though..it is a sport tournament, and very less injury is needed. but observing from the moves released, could u imagine the impact to a person directly...

  • @waldomarek

poin taken. but martial arts practice is not only about killing and maiming others in a street fight. sports competition enables the practitioners to perform certain elements of the art in a much safer way. it is also used to propagate the martial art to the public. olahraga ( sport ) is just one of the elements that a pesilat goes thru in his silat education.

  • ye i know, actually i was more talking about competitions like TKD where people do those kicks and don't seem to care about defense... it's all about getting points.

just to rephrase my original comment: don't like point based competitions too much, cause then the fight turns out being who gets the most points instead of who beats who in a 'real fight', hope you understand my point :)

  • its came from the malay race you stupid aydee2020...

  • no it's not stupid ! it comes from palembang ! you are very much mistaken if ppl of palembang would call themselves malay ! stupid ass !

  • Stupid Vietnamese,Phillipinos and Thais or whatever. You guys should quit learning Silat. You people will never be good in this Malay art.Go back to your homeland, and go learn some Bokator,Muay Thai and Eskrima. You guys can do shit!

  • Thai, philip, viet, all were part of the malay family

  • you can that bcoz you have not yet fight w/ the traditional filpino silat of mindanaw islands......

  • that;s true kunderemp ! it's originally from Sriwijaya now known as Indonesia ! so it's from indonesia ! MALAYSIA TRULY INDONESIA !

  • indonesia is the best,,,,

    malaysia ke laut aj.......

  • Mlaysia can do it!!

  • go go malaysia................

  • go philippines... go for LAos sea games.i know we can beat other country like powerhouse indonesia and Malaysia

  • Not a very good performance of the Phils silat team in this SEA games...

  • indonesia philippines thailand vietnam malaysia are kings

  • I do Pencak Silat, and it doesnt look anything like this..

  • If you do pencak silat, you should know there are hundreds, if not thousands of different styles which looks beautiful in demo's, but when doing competition, anything style-ish gets thrown out of the window. This is definately pencak though.

  • Beautiful in Demos? i do the real thing. and it looks beautiful in real life. But yes competition does throw alot out the window. But to me this doesnt look like pencak silat. More like a Karate.

  • This is pencak silat :) And like Xiph1980 said, anything stylish is throw out! I also train Pencak silat Bongkot style, more modern style of pencak silat here in Holland. Our training's are more into competitions, so the real tradition is a little faded.. but we still do that :)

  • at compentoin's it seems like karate but in training its really differents

  • Cuz it's not the true learning of Pencat Silat, western country have adapted it to make a kind of hybrid pencak silat more accessible and easier to learn for people whose martial arts don't belong to their culture.

  • YOU KNOW VIETNAM RUNS THE SHOW!!!

  • fuck this music...good video

  • Nono not on the face!

  • looks like it follows karate rules... enlighten me fellows.

  • I don't understand the last 2 guys?? Did the black guy step out the circle? Is that what happened there? I like this style though, very fast ^_^

  • i dont get the rules, please explain what these pom poms are up 2

  • lol. don't know either. I'm assuming they don't allow kicks/punches to the face even since they don't block high at all.

  • no,in silat, we're not allowed to attack at the face, head n below the body protector, except the feet...

  • that one kick, threw the guy off balance just as he was beginning to move. cool timing. 2:40

  • pentjak silat is also very popular in Holland.. But thats kinda logic because the indonesian came here after the war! a lot of indos live here now! But the style has been changed compared to the original!

  • yup..old style like bongkot in holland. serak style in US. pencak silat (pentjak is old bahasa indonesia and penchak is pronounce) in euro brought by de vries and de thouars family

  • aliran bongkot origin from east java and aliran serak from west java. but bongkot and serak very hard to find it now in indonesia, both old old silat style.

Tsou Chin --> MMA ? or new concept like JKD ?

  • no.. you cannot compare it with MMA of JKD!! We only train little pieces from every art that are usefull in real life combat instead of in compatition fights where there are rules.. we also don't do compatitions but train for our selfs with a little group of 10 people :) not many people know that Tsou Chin excists! Maybe one day people will!

  • love the song! You should post the name of the song on your info to honor your video. Respect others' creativity!

  • you guys know where one can learn silat in the philippines?

  • u better learn JKD (kungfu, silat, kali).

  • yes most silat in malaysia and indonesia have roots from india...IMHO most indian in malaysia like to learn TKD and karate.

Non muslim in malaysia can learn kalari payat...silat originate from this...theres some resemblance...tiny resemblance to silat but..kalari payat is the mother of all MA.

  • Silat is al ready exist for the long time ago. Kalari has root from silat because silat is the only one true martial art in the world before it spilt to other martial art.

  • i stand corrected. thanks

  • i'm surprise, why silat in malaysia don't not welcome chinese, indian learn silat,

if silat want to get popular in world martial art arena, we have to take chanllenge and invite more others to join even train them become instructor...... no religion involve, otherwise this would be christion, buddha, hindu has not entry to this MA

  • i think there are other races learn silat, it just that most guru require the students to be muslims...because some of the ritual involving islamic praying.

  • Go Philippines!!! i wish, i can fight in this sport someday.

  • hey, anyone noes the songs???

  • it seems to be sthg like "Children", by Robert Miles, it's not exactly that, but pretty similar

  • Nooo!!!...the best is Vietnam that wons 11 gold medals in world silat championship last year.. Singapore only one gold medals.. 2nd is malaysia with 7 gold medals..

  • great job philipines and vietnam!

  • is it true singapore is best in silat?

  • in my opinion, it would be sumatra, indonesia

  • dont hate me coz im silat no.1 fan ur dummy jelous of pencak silat

  • whats the song title?

  • ur such LOL u didnt even know about martial art coz ur such a loser

  • yh an go lik ur dads balls while ur there.

  • parekoy anot! shot na!

  • The original silat predates immigrant influences so NOT religion-based although it focuses on inner spiritual development. Many young Malays are put off that non-Muslims are learning this art and becoming masters while the Malays are losing its inheritance and thus identity. Maybe to encourage more Malays, integration needed together with Malay youths and relax the close-door Islamic requirements. Mahagurus should take note of this because culture is being eroded by this double standard.

  • To me I don't care what your guys chat. The main thing is, as long as we learn martial art is important. Why? becoz in war or battlefield, enemy doesn't ask, U learn taekwondo or silat. They just wanna kill U. So, up to U to defend your country from invaders by using any martial art.

  • i'm not sure your background, mabye your from army teams, every martial art style should have their own special skills and cultures and most important is the spirit,

some mahaguru even go through spiritual level when practising martial art. we need to focus to one before mix up with others.

otherwise would be "rojak campur "

  • I agreed with U regarding the spirit of martial arts. In the battlefield, spirit n mental is the two key element while we at war. Yes. off course we have to focus one martial art when dealing with spiritual concept. I said like that previously becoz lots of people said their martial art is the best. To me, the most important things is training n the challenge that U faced. 2 element will make your mental n physical musch stronger. However, nice to have professional discussion with U bro.

  • malaysia silat fighter spar in silat and tkd, skills from tkd

  • I'm from Singapore and there's a community centre behind my home that teaches Pencak Silat, welcomes all races : )

  • me too!

  • i just dont how is the point count.i guess if one is down, the other get point.anyway.i love watching women in silat fight.they look lovely.but they r also dangerous..haipp!

  • Powerful. Trained with Rudy Terlinden, Ratu Adil school!

  • x de ke Video Silat Sukan Pahang2007(2007)?

korang letak r kat youtube ni...

  • at the end, MALAYSIA won? those guys with yellow shirts?

  • I'm a jiu jitsu marial artist. I like Pencak silat because it's a beautiful martial art. In the past I've practised taekwondo and the matches in the video look almost similar as a taekwondo match. A lot of kick techniques. These matches are different than the practical performance during a training. With pencak silat, you can develop your inner force. This makes pencak silat a very impressive martial art. Do not under estimate these people. They can hurt you without touching you.

  • ya you are rite.you know i am 11year pro silat and 3 times champion i know all these...If you wan to learn some tell me dont be shy

  • Thank you for your offer. Someone is going to teach me Satria Nusantara to develop my inner force. I also started pencak silat (Gerak Saka style). Is always good to learn new things and then combine it with your own background. Trying to develop new combinations. Anyways, I wish you a lot of succes with your career.

  • salam..my i know brother what kind of silat u'v practicing with...

  • lol wat?

  • did you know most of silat fighter is actually from tkd in malaysia, silat is just copycat from tkd, malaysia slogan "malaysia boleh" apply in malaysia only, when go oversea "malaysia takboleh" try fight in mma, i'm sure they will learn the lesson.

  • are you sure they copy tkd? to me there are many styles that have almost similar movements, and that's because the 4 limbs have only finite ways to move

  • army n police train tkd first, then later they developed silat sparring with rules and regulations, original silat practise for demo, their training not allow visitor to view with high fencing blocking the view during training section and some silat's branch train black magic.

there was once when malay guy train tkd n silat invite tiger spirit possessed spar in tkd tounament and banned from sparring.

that why silat not popular, even most malay join tkd or karate

  • lol where you get your dumb statement from? ur ass?

  • i agree..in the ring with rules, the pesilat migth be defeated.simply bcuz he cannot used what he or she learn to maim and kill.point system sparring is deferent from real fight, everyone who is trying to compare any form of martial arts must know that.

The Silat is not alowed in UFC? WHY?..i wonder...........,would any one there want to tell me why?....

  • its hard to find traditional martial artists in ufc, not just silat.

  • Ali is a great martial artist, but unfortunately he's not a shia.

  • i learn cimandean and cimacan pencak silat from a neighbour when i was a child .....now i mixed it with a lil of ju jit su and aikido......

but i dont learn the inner strenght becouse my mother forbade me that time......i miss you Guru Zainal, may god put you in his 7th heaven.......

  • pencak bongkot kontol bwahahahaaha

  • wei...ko bangang dan bodoh...org mcm ko baik mampos....jo ni babi anjing tau x...kalu ak jumpe ko, ak patah2 kan seme anggota bdn ko...dasar babi...ko igt 2 jahanam!!!!

  • hi i'm indonesian i admit pencak is deadly one of the reason why i never learn pencak is the inner power... coz i don't think i can control myself after i mastered the inner power and the breathing technique really hard. it is true pencak not allowed in UFC why?

    soory 4 my poor english

  • i'm indonesian too. there 2 inner power in silat. Tenaga dalam and Gaib (mystic). Gaib means your physic did not learn silat but your soul did. it's called silat gaib. and it can be deadly too :))

  • myspace . com/pencaksilatratuadil

  • Y'know? It's sad to see pencak silat sometimes being overlooked in it's own original country.

  • guys . silat is very deadly and silat is a malaysian martial art not thailand . thai people use thai boxing witch is very deadly as well :)

  • you are wrong man.....

pencak silat is a javanese martial art.....the rest of south east asia learnt in when their country is still in majapahit and singhasari kingdom domination(6th - 15th century)

  • i think women prefer to grab and hold faster than men, men prefer distance punching i think, its not ment offensive, think its somtething intuitive....XD respect 2 pencak silat! l8r

  • Christian jealousy

  • Hahahaah Pencak Silat is not Muslim's Martial Art but its the basic of Martial Art in Malayu area such Indonesia, Malaysia, Pilipina, Thailand ect......

Silat looks simple but sometimes really deadly, take care of inner power of it.

  • VENOMDUKA : Islam is the official religion of Malaysia.

  • and Indonesia

  • So i know that,

But Pencak Silat is not Muslim's only isn't it??

Pencak silat alread exist before Islam entered Malay...(Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunai)

  • Silat is already being practice by the malay before the ariving of Islam in Malay land. When Islam came, silat have being modified so that it will not wrong again Islam.
