I watched this whole debate and I have to say I would have remained 50/50 except it finally came down to one deciding factor... DEMEANOR.

In nature, when a mother loses her cub for example, she has a feeling of loss. It's seen throughout nature. Without emotions, we would not have survived, if humans lost their emotions today, we would not survive. Emotions are for survival, not a "gift from god"

Kirk's big lie is that he claims he was an atheist, but I bet was a christian who did not practice his religion. An atheist is not someone who does not follow the teachings of the Christian bible but a person who actively, to themselves or out loud says that they don't believe in any God, as a THEIST is the belief in a deity regardless of the name of the book or God. Kirk at 17 probably never said to himself or anyone, I don't believe, he just chose to live life as many hollywood teens.

When he calls himself an evolutionist it that doesn't imply that he knows anything about evolution and therefore the fact that he was an evolutionist is moot. His opinion isn't any more valid because his has doesn't know anything and never has known anything about evolution. I like how they are trying to build credibility in the beginning however they fail in the process.

@xIJOS3RAMOSIx indeed, that's probably what's going on (although one can be an agnostic and an atheist at the same time -- I am both: "I don't believe in God (atheist) but I don't know if there is a god (agnostic)". In the caes of Cameron, if he really was a non-believer, it was probably an agnostic theist, i.e. he thought there was one, but wasn't sure. He now would claim that he knows, that he is SURE that God exists.

@1Thompsonmusic let me give you a couple of examples: Fear: another way of saying survival instinct. Love: the instinct to reproduce. In nature, when a mother loses her cub for example, she has a feeling of loss. It's seen throughout nature. All humans are is a more advanced form of it, some may argue that we're not even more advanced. Without emotions, we would not have survived, if humans lost their emotions today, we would not survive. Emotions are for survival, not a "gift from god"

@1Thompsonmusic That's all love (as in marriage, not family love) between two people is biologically, like it or not buddy. Love to me means more than just reproduction, however, I am able to accept that reproduction is the sole aim of a species and that in humans, love (and admittedly lust,) is what drives human reproduction and hence the survival of the species.
Seriously, study a bit of biology and animal behaviour and apply that to human emotions, I think it will become very clear to you

Other colours, are usually because it's getting too much light . Colour variation for pollination is also handy, gets more attention. Roses were also select bred by humans to win competitions, for hundreds of years. When a wave breaks in a blue ocean, it's white because bubbles reflect ALL colours equally=whitelight

Ok. Now say it is evolution. How does 'evolution' put the colour into the rose, or the patterns onto a tiger, without having say a brain or an 'idea' to do it? Surely it must have some plan? Some intellegence. So that is another reason to believe in God. It makes sense. God IS evolution.

To say God is [a process that exists] therefore God exists is silly because God loses all his normal qualities when you define him as evolution.

@1Thompsonmusic Whilst I'm at it: Evolution puts the colour in a rose as it attracts insects to cross pollinate it. The stripes for a tiger are for camouflage, hence making them more successful hunters. Evolution is random mutations and the animals with better mutations breed more and eventually breed out the ones who don't have them. Survival of the fittest.
