  • Problem with this video is it is written by someone that has a passing thought not a real argument. First off believing is a choice and multiple choices come from that choice. Second, even if you don't believe you have knowledge of a god and so you can still speak to both crowds in that general sense and provoke thought. And lastly if you believe then you need not choose a god to believe in as you already have or you wouldn't believe in the first place.

Seems to be someone young in thought.

  • For me, pondering god's existence is better than not pondering it. This wager assumes God will punish the unbeliever based on false teachings. We must give God a headache with our nonsense"When our iniquities rise to heaven"(God's migraine).

  • actually this video is wrong pascal goes on in his journal and says follow the ones that believe and try to believe in god not pretend

hes just trying to help the reader to make a decision and then to follow that decision by believing in god

  • Keeping a perserved consiousness forEVER is just way too long heaven or hell. <100 years is kinda low too but still.

  • I posted a video response, I am sure you will approve it.

We can all use both views in any discussion.

  • Christianity is the only religion that promised eternal salavation (heaven) SIMPLY for believing in Jesus. Jesus said "whoever shall believe in me shall not see death, but receive eteral life". Zeus, Thor etc... don't even have such promised. Even Judaism and Islam don't have such promised, they all require you to be perfect.

Tell me of a religion that have the promised of heaven SIMPLY FOR BELIEVING?

  • All of them, they all say the same thing, make the same promises and none of them do anything but take money and time.

  • This only works if we aren't 100% sure if christianity is true or not.

Seeing as the god of the bble doesn't live up to the description of himself in his own word then we can be sure that christianity is false.

We don't need to wager, becuase it's a certainty that christianity is false.

  • "Tell me of a religion that have the promised of heaven SIMPLY FOR BELIEVING?"

    What if I invent one?

  • "simply believing"

    ok then

i promise you a dollar if you "simply believe" in the purple dwarf that lives in my closet.... i dont mean pretend you believe... i mean actually believe in him...

what you cant? oh ye of little faith....

  • But, I ask you, why not believe in God? Why not put your true, loving belief in something greater? Why not?

  • Because it is fake.

  • "But, I ask you, why not believe in God? Why not put your true, loving belief in something greater? Why not? "

why not believe in a giant panda that gives out candy? Why not put your true, loving belief in the candy panda? why not?

  • Benjamin Franklin said, "If there is this much wickedness with religion, imagine if there wasn't religion." Maybe the world started Athiest but a higher entity needed to be invented to keep people in line, Ha Ha Ha.

  • Pascal said that if you start pretending that there's a god - someday sooner or later you will not just pretend but actually also believe it.

  • Yeah, AA tells people that too, their numbers are LOWER than those who try to quit on their own.

  • which god? Pascal's argument is for ONE god... but if you incorperate other gods into the equation, it instantly negates any "penalties". What if zeus was the one true god, and by believing in the christian god you incur even more wraith?

  • Bingo, the whole argument is flawed from that perspective. I hate when my god damn proselytizing philosophy teacher pulls this shit, it's ancient, dead material which does nothing for the god case.

  • This is not Pascal's Wager. :o

  • That's because god(s) cannot be defined.

  • webster thinks they can...but that bastard thinks all words should be defined, so it would appear hes biased on this matter

  • Pascal forgot to define god...
