(Cross posted on Makezine): Designing this year's badge and running the badge hacking contest was an absolute blast. I'm honored and humbled by what Team Osogato pulled off in only a few short days . I'll have a bunch of details up on my website soon (grandideastudio dot com), along with pictures, schematics, firmware, development information, and links to the other hacks that were done on the badge. Thanks to everyone who participated in the contest and made it such an amazing event.
Alternatively, you can grab it off of osogato dot com/hacks/badgez.mp3
(I really thought finding someone to set that poem to rap would be the hard thing, but it turns out we had the final song less than half-way through figuring out how to load code on those bloody badges.)
Oh, hey! I didn't realize who you were at first. Thanks again!
BTW, I keep hoping someone posts a video of the closing ceremonies -- we handed in a copy of the song at the time we entered our hack into the competition, and they played it when we won.

BTW, when we entered our final entry into the contest, Kingpin asked for a CD of it, which they played when we won. I'm still looking for copies video of the closing ceremonies -- we had the ~ 4000 or so people who stuck around for the end of DEFCON all waving their badges in POV-mode to the beat.
Thanks! We're going to post a step-by-step How-to on building these. We did all our prototyping on a regular "human" badge, and hacking the press badge took less than an hour (most of that soldering with shanking hands.) So for people who still have their badges, making this (and extending the hack further) should be fairly easy.

Seemed OK to me; should I re-encode?

Not sure it would help, youtube might be at fault. you can here those extreme mp3-like blips and bloops from compression.
anyway, we get enough of the idea without flawless sound. no worries.
