Oh yeah, it's basically hearing the announcer through some people's headsets. I wasn't wearing my headset, meaning that all voicechat will come out of the TV, and you'll hear whatever's coming from the TV of someone else's headset as well.
That's not even the case, I can't even record with anything up. If I do, when I plug in my dazzle USB it takes forever to load up and I'd have to manually power off the laptop.
THIS is a natural downside of recording in 640x480. After some time, the video will no longer look smooth. I can lower the output, but the overall quality decreases and even though the video is smoother, I won't be able to read the text clearly in the video.
I see. Maybe try this... Close all apps (anti-virus etc) running in the background. And make sure you're not connected to the internet as you closed your security apps. Then plug in your USB Dazzle, and open your capture software. This will be less of a burden for your laptop. And also uncheck the preview box (I mean, don't preview your recording), because displaying preview costs processing power for your laptop.
Neither WMM or Instant DVD Recorder have options to turn off the preview box. However, what you said did make a lot of sense.
Only VDub lets me check off the preview box, but the thing is, even if I get a smoother video, I tend to get interlaced AVI videos (i.e. the video shows lines running through each frame) and I have to go through the trouble of de-interlacing it as well as destroying the vid quality in the end. But I'll give what you said a shot.
I also got lines if I watch my untouched videos (I record in mpg and render them as wmv). But after rendering the lines are not visible anymore.
Maybe you can record a test video (mpg or other video format) untouched for let's say a minute and upload it somewhere so I can render it for you using my settings to see how it looks like.
Just send me the upload link if you do so. O BTW, I remember that my first test video (untouched and in mpg format) didn't show any lines on YouTube while it did on my computer.
I still play this great game even since MW2's been released.

Idk, sometimes I hear the announcer echoing his voice. "We have lost the lead (...have lost the lead)"

Echoing? Not sure what you mean.

Close some unneeded apps running in the background before recording.
