  • droid has a bad keyboard

  • what, its true, droid does have a bad keyboard.....

  • i would say that the droid has the iphone beat. i cant keep it out of my hands

  • me with small hands, i find the droid's hardware keyboard very good, just that the keys are too close together.

and the droid has this lag when switching screens its very annoying,

i have a rooted mytouch3g with 5 screens and it goes blazing fast with no lag what so ever.

  • it's pronounced airess

  • i love my htc droid eris. :D

  • the keyboard on the droid is so bad. the only good thing about the phone is that it has a big screen and fast processor! and the onscreen android keyboard is bad too

  • Classy reply... Mr. "CEO".

  • ok someone here is really weird..

  • geek !

  • Too much movement in your mouth. Tone it down a little. Just a little. Looks like you are trying too hard. That or it looks like you're trying to be a Mr. Ed impersonator. Otherwise excellent review.

  • Plan on getting one a few months after December when people have used them and might sell them at a significantly lower price than the RRP. Also by then, they should improve up on the phones features and come out with a newer model. I'm just not rushing out to buy a new phone because it's a new phone. Get the newer equipment because you need it, not to impress your friends. If you need to impress people with stuff, then look for other friends. A gift would be a good idea for someone else.

  • I think Verizon knew that their pay to use service (VZ Navigator one example) is going to be phased out because of Google and the ability to use another programme for free. It goes against their marketing campaign for "open source". Which would be "it's open source, yet I am forced to use your expensive service". They're counting on sales of units, and projected sales of application downloads to make up for the cost of a gps unit, which they realise not enough people use.

  • Angelo i know ur the ceo of the company and ur in charge... but you look stoned...dont fire me!!!

j/k but u do look stoned

  • @avalino79 Haha, I'll work on it. Maybe I should be getting more sleep. Definitely not stoned. Those days are long gone. Lol.

  • ha ha I was going to mention how bout an expresso, or a monster...keep up the good work though. Good rest results in effective performance: speech presentation, making a vid....daily task. Those days are behind me too and I see a major difference.

  • hahaah dude i was thinking the same thing

  • u look tire get some rest cutie.!

"how does the aol instant messenging look"?

  • Hail Eris!

    All hail Discordia!

  • can i use the yahoo im on the driod? especially since it is powered by google can i use yahoo im on it?

  • Yes you can. There are a few apps in the Android marketplace for Yahoo IM as well.

  • cool do they work well? because everyone says i should just go back to using gmail and talk but thanks for the reply!

  • I haven't tried them, so I don't want to tell you that they work well. I would agree with your friends though. Gmail & talk are better in my opinion, but whatever works for you! I guess whichever most of your friends are on is the best way to go if you want to communicate with them.

  • yeah i guess its juts tat i really want a new phone and since im stuck with tracphone for now im looking for fones, bu for this fone it seems the plan is a it expensive, do u think i can get it unlocked? (will it work the same or what? like make it for att and or tmobile? or maybe even cricket?)

  • Motorola is dropping a GSM version of it so yes you can unlock it and use on a GSM carrier. Rumors are AT&T might be getting the phone because its GSM version has the same frequency bands AT&T uses. We'll see.

  • yeah!!! ok tat makes it better i saw one yesterday i believe so i didnt know if it was just a rumor and stuff its silver instead of gold and the one i saw was laggy so i hope they fix it, and it will work as good as the virizon one right? (thanks for all the reply's man!)

  • I've heard speculation as to the same, but undoubtedly VZW will have an exclusive for a period of time. The GSM version will most likely be targeted for South America and/or Canada.

  • verizon gave up ALOT when taking on Droid. ie. ALL verizon apps, they let it use wi-fi, which they didn't like, and paid services like vcast and vzw nav. have been comprimised. odds are in return they got an exclusive deal with motorola and google. Verizon lost all creative control with this smart phone.

  • @deadbass72 Actually end users will still have access to VZ Apps via the Droid. Charges for VZ Apps are applied to the end users bill while any charges for Android market are handled separately, not on the bill.

Moving forward, all VZW smart phones will have wifi...even the Curve2 for example.

Voice and data sales will more than compensate for any loss of revenue from the lack of Vcast and/or nav.

Embracing the Android OS is a very smart move on VZW's part.

  • @deadbass72 They didn't lose all creative control. They lost their stranglehold. I understand Verizon wanting to charge for some of their services but honestly, there are lots of companies that do it better. Verizon just needs to step back and let the pros take care of writing software while Verizon maintains the network on which it all runs.

  • Yeah, I have a Samsung Alias, you're stuck with their freaking services that fucking too much to use. I don't use anything besides texting since their applications cost a lot[Seriously, you'd be better off buying a netbook and a wireless card]

  • The name Desire is not a desirable name, lol

  • Does anyone know when the Droid does come out, because i really want one plz help, thanks

  • Nov. 6th

  • Nov. 6th. But supposedly Best Buy is doing pre-orders if you want to part with your money even sooner.

  • can you get apps on this phone like the iphone?

  • Yes :)

  • i hope it comes to Canada

  • I typically don't like "slider" phones due to the build quality, but the Droid's sliding mechanism is very crisp...almost stiff. You actually have to force it a bit, which is good because it doesn't feel like it is likely to loosen up over time.

OS is blazing fast. You can have up to 9 different web "pages" up at the same time. Multi tasking is a breeze. The browser renders pages very quickly.

With that said, I'm waiting until after the holidays to buy. I want to see all the new devices.

  • Can't wait to get my hands on one. I've used the OS because I'm a developer, although I haven't seen Android 2.0 running on a phone yet. I'm excited to see how it runs on the Droid.

  • As a developer, how much more difficult is it for you to develop apps where the core executable file(s) reside on the ROM and the pictures, video and other files reside on the microsd card?

I have heard varying opinions and thought I would see what you thought.

    Thanks.

  • For some reason the last comment I made didn't post. I posted that my specialty is CG art (concept art, 3d modeling, animation, etc.), not programming. However I am forwarding your question to one of our programmers, Craig, and should have an answer for you soon. From what I understand, having an engine process images (like file textures) on-the-fly from an external storage source can cause unnecessary lag. I'll get you a definite answer on that one though. Thanks for the question.

  • Well this is probably off topic but how much is a plan for the motorola droid where you have unlimited text and unlimited web?

  • For a single line plan it is an additional $50. $30 for the data and $20 for the text/picture messaging.

  • Thank you. Apparently the onboard 512MB on the Droid is drawing some ire. At first glance some are saying that 512 is way too small for larger apps/games, while others are saying the core exe files can reside on the ROM while the support files are located on the micro sd card without issue with linux.

Considering I don't progam I really have no idea as to the validity of either claim, but if 512 is the max available for the OS and apps/games with the Droid I would see that as a shortcoming. ty

  • DROID will be launched on Friday, the 6th of November. That date is firm.

Got my hands on one today and I'm impressed.

  • how you know

  • Yeah that's what I've heard from my contacts. So you like the device so far? Any thoughts on it you'd like to share?

  • Lots of good information. Would have like to see some pictures though.

  • If you click the Get Nerdy TV or Envisage Studios links in to the top right, you'll see a Motorola Droid Revealed video that will give you a look at what the device looks like. I haven't seen enough pics or specs of the HTC to post it. But stay tuned.

  • Thanks for the video! All your videos are very informative.

  • Thanks! I appreciate it!

  • Love the video! Great information!

  • cool
